KARA

“Where is Alpha Kieran? I have something important to show him and it could only be tonight to make tonight worthy” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. My heart fluttered with excitement—tonight, I had great news to tell him. It was going to be the highlight of the ceremony.

Aria, my most trusted Beta, glanced up from the scroll she was holding. “He could be in his quarters getting ready, Luna, you two have to be ready before the time runs out, go check on him while I wait in the hall for you” she replied, her voice steady and reassuring, though I could see the faint glimmer of concern in her eyes.

I nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. It was supposed to be a night of celebration. A night when our pack would come together, marking the beginning of a new era under Alpha Kieran’s leadership and my position as his Luna. But something in my gut twisted, an unease I couldn’t shake off.

“Thank you, Aria, help me sort things out in the hall, I will be there soon, I just have to show Kieran some good news to make our day” I said quickly with a wide smile, then turned and made my way toward Kieran’s quarters.

As I walked down the long, dimly lit hall, I felt the cool breeze of the evening air brushing against my skin, the silence enveloping me like a heavy blanket. I had to tell Kieran, I had to tell him that I was pregnant. It was the most precious news, and I couldn’t wait to share it with him. But as I approached his door, I heard muffled sounds. At first, I thought it was just the wind, but then it became unmistakable—the unmistakable sound of… moaning, sounds of body tapping, and kisses, I could hear them very well.

At first I thought it was my imagination. Then I froze.

The air thickened around me, suffocating my thoughts. This couldn’t be happening. Not tonight.

I stepped closer, my heart pounding in my chest, and peered through the small gap in the door. And what I saw made my blood run cold.

Alpha Kieran, my mate, the man I had loved and trusted with everything, was lying naked on the bed, tangled in the sheets with none other than Izzy—the woman he had always assured me was nothing to worry about.

Izzy… the one who had tried to come between us before the party, the one lady who said she would be in charge of the hall preparation, the lady who Kieran told me to hand over everything too because she was good at it.

I gasped, the papers in my hand slipping from my grip and falling to the ground with a soft thud. My knees buckled, but I steadied myself against the doorframe, refusing to let myself collapse.

“Alpha Kieran,” I called out, my voice trembling, barely audible in the tense silence of the room.

Kieran didn’t even flinch. He didn’t look startled, didn’t seem guilty. He didn’t care that I had just caught him in the most intimate moment with the one person I had feared the most.

Izzy hissed, her eyes narrowing with contempt as she straightened up, her body still bare. “Your Luna knows no boundaries, doesn’t she?” she sneered, pulling on her dress with a smirk, then walking past me without a second glance.

I stared at Kieran, my body shaking, a mixture of disbelief and rage rising inside me. “How could you?” My voice was barely a whisper, but it carried the weight of years of trust shattering in an instant.

He looked at me, his eyes cool, almost detached. “Let’s enjoy tonight’s moonlight ceremony, Luna,” he said, his tone icy and indifferent. He flashed me a sly smile, as if he had no care in the world, as if everything that had just happened was nothing more than a trivial matter to him.

I wanted to scream. I wanted to slap the arrogant look off his face. But instead, I turned away, my breath hitching as tears stung my eyes. I couldn’t even look at him anymore.

With trembling hands, I wiped away the tears and walked toward the hall, my mind spinning with disbelief. How had this happened? Was everything we had built, everything I had sacrificed for him, nothing but a lie?

The hall was buzzing with energy as pack members gathered, eagerly waiting for the ceremony to begin. The excitement in the air was palpable, but it all felt like a cruel joke now. I forced a smile, not wanting to show anyone what had just happened. I couldn’t. Not here. Not now.

And then, it was time.

Kieran stepped onto the stage, the crowd falling into an expectant silence. He stood there, looking every bit the perfect Alpha, confident and commanding, a sharp contrast to the cold emptiness I felt in my chest.

“I have an announcement to make,” Kieran said, his voice booming through the hall, capturing everyone’s attention.

The pack members looked up at him, nodding with eager smiles. They all believed in him. They all trusted him. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that something terrible was about to happen.

I stood at the back of the hall, my heart racing. Kieran’s eyes scanned the room, his gaze finally landing on me. And then, without warning, he spoke.

“Luna Kara isn’t fit to be my Luna,” Kieran said, his voice steady, as if delivering the most casual of statements. “She isn’t fit to lead this pack. I have my reasons for that.”

The words hit me like a slap to the face, what had happened? This wasnt why we called for a party. The room fell into stunned silence.

“What’s happening, Alpha? Was this the reason you called for a party tonight?” one of the pack members asked, a look of confusion on his face.

“Luna has been unfaithful,” he said, his words dripping with venom. “She has been cheating on me with a lowly guard in this pack and I have been waiting for the right moment to reveal it, Tonight, the truth comes out” Kieran continued, his voice cold.

I had hoped, at first, that the pain would subside, but it didnt. My body had endured the change, the slow progression of time and nature was it prepared for the arrival of a new life.“I think it’s time to give birth,” I muttered through gritted teeth, clutching the mossy ground beneath me. I wasn’t sure whether it was the quiet of the forest or the anticipation of meeting my son that soothed me. Either way, there was no going back now.I had prepared myself, as best I could. I gathered soft leaves to lie on, feeling the coolness of the forest floor against my skin. There was no doctor, no healer.
