CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

Evvie’s POV:

I stifled a laugh as the beta got up, avoiding my gaze at all costs as he marched his way towards the door. He did not stop to so much as look at me, ignoring me as I called after him.

“Where are you going? Come back!”

He turned a deaf ear, slamming the door then locking it.

When I knew I was alone, I didn’t bother to fight the snicker tickling the back of my throat.

“How rude.” My wolf commented, and I rolled my eyes at her.

“Come on. It was funny though, right?” I taunted, but her silence told me she wasn’t on my side.

“Party pooper.” I mumbled, which finally triggered a reaction from her as she released a low growl.

I felt my wolf take her leave, again withdrawing to the back of my mind.

I let my gaze drop to the tray scattered on the floor. Scanning the area, I searched for the fork I purposely threw somewhere close while I used my mouth. I found it lying on the floor two meters away from my side.
