CHAPTER FORTY-FIVE

Logan’s POV:

TWO HOURS EARLIER

“Any news about that missing link?” I asked Carlos, who is leaning against the wall in my office with his arms crossed.

He shook his head.

Sighing, I sat back in my swivel chair across a thick pile of papers I needed to go over and be done with by tonight.

However, the escape of one of the inmates I imprisoned five years ago was making it nearly impossible to focus.

I groaned, rubbing my temples with my fingers when I heard my wolf, Tristan, growl.

“How could they let this happen?” He was livid, that I could tell.

I looked at my beta. His eyes were focused on something else, making me squint at him.

“What’s going on with you?” I asked, and his distant gaze snapped to me before he blinked.

“Nothing. It’s aching again.” He replied, clearing his throat but I doubt that was the case.

Still, I cannot believe he’d let himself be taken out by a woman. I smirked, feeling proud as I envisioned what that scene would look like.
