I sprinted home. Finally, the school year has ended, and we are on vacation. Yay! I am hoping that Dad would come out of his room today. I want to show him my test results.
As soon as I step inside our home, I shout, “Dad!” Mom is probably at work. I called out to him once more, but nothing. I felt a chill come over me. The atmosphere in the house is gloomy, as if something terrible is going to happen. Shaking off the unease, I sprinted toward my parents’ room and flung open the door.
“Dad!” I cried, rushing to his motionless form sprawled on the floor. I tried shaking him, but to no avail. He was lying on the ground with his mouth open and foam oozing from it. I tried to shake him, but he lay there lifeless, with no soul visible in his eyes.
As tears ran down my face, I trembled as I reached for my phone and dialed my Mom’s number. “Amy?” my mother’s voice made me sob even harder. “Amy, what is wrong, sweetheart?” She inquired, obviously alarmed by my situation.
“Mom! Dad isn’t waking up. I’m trying. He isn’t waking up,” I sobbed.
My mother exhaled sharply and responded, “Stay with him. I’ll be home in 10 minutes. Call 911”
“Please hurry,” I pleaded, my voice breaking. With shaking hands, I dialed 911 and gave them our address. I tried to give my father chest compressions as recommended. I knew he wasn’t breathing, but I could not give up. Maybe, just maybe, Dad would wake up. Please, Dad, please.
Soon, a police officer and two paramedics rushed into the house. The police officer instructed me to wait in another room, but my pleading eyes softened his resolve, allowing me to stay. They had been attempting to revive him when my mother rushed in and realized what was happening. Her eyes filled with dread.
In a heart-wrenching moment, the paramedics closed my father’s lifeless eyes. My mother crumpled to the floor, sobbing, and I clung to her tightly. She screamed in agony, clutching her chest, “No. No. Oh my God, no.”
The officer kneeled and said, “Mam we are so sorry for your loss...”
My ability to understand what he was talking about was lost. I could see his lips moving, but my mind couldn’t absorb what he was saying. I was paralyzed as my eyes remained fixed on the lifeless body. Dad was gone. He left us.
We lost him.

AmyKeys. CheckedWallet. Checked.Id card. Checked. Finally, the checklist is done. I walked out of my apartment and towards my car. Just as I was about to close the car door, I remembered something. Shit! I forgot about the assignments. I rushed back to my room, grabbed them, and then hurried back to my car. I took a careful seat to preserve the formal dress I was wearing today. Usually, I opt for semi-formal clothing, but today was an exception. I needed to look sharp.I arrived at my school room early. Organizing my classroom and making preparations for my students are some of my favorite tasks. I always ensured that my students received my best efforts. As I worked, I couldn’t help but smile, thinking about how happy my fourth-graders would be when they saw the upcoming project. When the bell rang, I was just about to finish organizing the papers when I stepped outside the classroom to let my students in. Some of them squealed and yelled, ‘Good morning, miss!’ It was adorable! The
RyanI closed the door to my office and plopped into my plush leather chair, feeling the weight of frustration and fatigue bearing down on me. I rubbed my tired eyes and threw my head back against the headrest. I am so sick of this nonsense.“That bad, huh?” Mark’s voice broke through my thoughts. When did he show up?“What are you doing in my office? I gave you access for an emergency only, not to wander about at will,” I growled.Mark pouted like a child and said, “Aww! Come on, dude. I was bored and figured you would need some company after getting that call from Liam’s school. What happened?” I reluctantly started to recount the events from earlier.Three hours ago, I had been in the midst of preparing for an important meeting with investors when my phone chimed, displaying Principal Dan’s number on the screen. Panic surged through me, and I couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Is Liam okay?’ I answered the call with a sense of urgency.“Hello. Principal Dan here. Am I talking to Mr. Crawfor
AmyI sat nervously in the plush waiting room of RC Enterprises, feeling the weight of anticipation bearing down on me. My hands were sweaty, and I couldn’t stop fumbling with the files in my lap. The interviews hadn’t even started yet, and I was already sweating like a pig. I glanced around at the grandeur of the lobby, utterly awestruck. I had never seen anything so grand in my life. The top floor was vast, easily the size of two football fields, and it seemed to contain only two offices at the far end corner. Everything else appeared to be meeting rooms or additional waiting areas. I was sitting in the waiting room on a sofa that was so comfortable that I could just slide down and sleep on it. The decor of the whole floor was a soothing light beige, bathed in soft, inviting, and illuminating. It looked like something straight out of a magazine. I was so captivated by the surroundings that I didn’t even notice someone clearing their throat.“The interviews will begin immediately. Mi
RyanI reviewed Amy’s resume again. It was quite impressive. She had a degree in child development and, as she said, she minored in child psychology. The confidence in her voice and the way she answered were both excellent. I may have pushed a few buttons, but I do not want to risk anything about the future of my child.“So, who do we like? I think we can agree that Amy is the one.” Mark barged into my office before I could delve deeper in my thoughts.“Are you following her like a puppy dog now?” I asked, arching an eyebrow. He smirked, “Well, no, I was just getting acquainted with Liam’s future nanny.”“Who said that she was Liam’s nanny? Nothing is final yet,” I replied, trying to maintain a professional tone.“Oh please, if you did not prefer her as Liam’s nanny, you would throw her out of the interview like the previous one. And you know you are a little impressed with that spitfire. You cannot lie to me,” he replied.I squinted my eyes at him, giving him a warning, “Mark, don’t t
AmyI sighed as I plopped down on my bed after returning to my small apartment from the interview. I found the experience to be somewhat strange. Nannying was never part of my career plan, but when Mara approached me about it two weeks ago, I couldn’t help but feel perplexed. I probed her for more information, wondering how she even got wind of this opportunity. It appeared like the kind of position that required exclusive connections. To enter the building for the interview, I had to provide a mysterious coded message that Mara had given me. It all felt rather clandestine.I knew I should be grateful for the opportunity, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that Mara was keeping something from me. I mulled over the job offer, and there was no denying that I desperately needed it. My attempts at landing a teaching job elsewhere had been futile, as the entire district was grappling with severe budget cuts, resulting in countless layoffs. With a sigh, I reluctantly agreed to the interview, a
RyanThe hot water soothed my sore muscles. I was so engrossed in exercising today it had completely slipped my mind that I had asked Liam’s new babysitter to report at 9 am. I squirted some body wash into my hands and rubbed it all over my body. It is said that the Himalayan salt in the body wash would ease any muscle fatigue. As I lathered up, my phone chimed with an incoming call. Fink, my home voice assistant, informed me that it was Jim calling. I reluctantly answered, knowing that this interruption meant I had to wrap up my shower quickly.Jim informed me that Miss Castello had arrived at the gate, and I granted her entry before rushing to finish my shower. With the hot water and stress momentarily forgotten, I dried off and wrapped a towel around my waist. I vigorously rubbed my hair with another towel to dry it before checking my phone for any important notifications. As I was about to reach for my phone, I sensed someone’s gaze fixed upon me. Raising my eyes, I found Miss Cast
AmyI quickly exited Mr. Crawford’s room, my heart pounding from the awkward encounter. I couldn’t help but berate myself for my blunder. I’m such a fool, I thought as I sank onto the living room sofa, absently toying with the straps of my bag. The question looming large in my mind: Was this going to cost me my job on my very first day? My nerves were getting the best of me, and I struggled to calm my racing heart.Amid my spiraling thoughts, I suddenly realized something crucial. Where was Liam? Panic surged within me. I had been so preoccupied with the earlier incident that I’d lost track of the little boy. I was about to launch into a search when a handsome man approached.“You must be Miss Amy Castello, Liam’s new nanny,” he said, smiling politely.I blushed. “Hmm... I am. And you are?”“I am Jim Perry, Liam’s bodyguard,” he introduced himself. My mouth formed an ‘O’ of realization. So this is the man who was in the bathroom. And also a 5-year-old has a bodyguard. Well, not that I
LiamI huff and squeeze Mr. Snowbell to my chest. When Daddy told me about a new nanny, I was sure she would be the same as the others. I have not been able to sleep thinking about what happened today. Maybe Miss Amy is different. No!I cannot think like that. Miss Amy looked different from the other nannies, but deep down, I knew she’d turn out the same. The old nannies always put on a show when they saw Daddy, getting all giggly and excited. What did Jim call that... umm... flirting? They always flirt with daddy. I don’t like that. I scrunched my nose. I even saw one of them take something and sneak it into her purse. Daddy and Jim say stealing is bad.So I have to protect Daddy from those women. I make them run away. It was easy since all I had to do was pull up some prank, or little mischief, or just I had to act out a little. And they would run away, leaving me and Daddy alone. But today had been different. Miss Amy hadn’t acted like the others. When I tried to run away from her a
RyanI let out a frustrated huff, my irritation rising as it became clear they were dragging this out on purpose. “Just get us home. Liam is sleeping,” I bit out, my teeth clenched to prevent any further outbursts.“Ryan,” Amy’s voice was soft but firm, gently cradling the sleeping Liam in her lap. “Watch your language.”“Sorry,” I murmured, shooting a warning glance at my brother through the rear-view mirror. The scoundrel merely smirked. “Why the rush, oh mighty winner?” he taunted, prompting a chuckle from Mark.“Do you need a fu-ducking,” making a sorry face at a glaring Amy and then looking back at my stupid brother, “dissertation on why my child should not sleep in the back seat of your car?” I snapped.“Nah,” Mark chimed in, turning his attention back to Amy. “Hey, beautiful, care to join me for dinner? I...”“Drive us home, or rest assured I’ll provide your squeeze of the month with your home address, personal phone number, and a few choice tidbits she could use against you. An
Amy“Wake up, buddy,” I whispered in Liam’s ear, my fingers tracing gentle circles on his back. He grunted, sinking deeper into his blankets, and I couldn’t help but smile.“Come on, baby,” I coaxed, leaning closer. “We have to be at school today.”He stirred, his eyelids fluttering open reluctantly. “But it’s Saturday,” he whined, his voice still heavy with sleep.“But Mrs. Perry’s note says you have to be there,” I murmured, brushing a lock of unruly hair from his forehead. That got his attention. His eyes widened as he sat up, rubbing the sleep from them. “But I don’t… I can’t.”“Why not, baby?” I asked, feigning innocence.“Because… because...” His lower lip jutted out in a pout, and he clutched his left leg dramatically. “My owie hurts, and my leg hurts too.”I wanted to pull his cheek so hard. Suppressing a laugh, I mirrored his expression. “Oh, that’s bad,” I said, my voice dripping with mock concern. “I thought you, Daddy, and I could have some fun in the competition. But since
RyanSinking into the plush leather chair of my home office, frustration and concern swirled in my mind like a tempest. Caleb’s impulsive act gnawed at my thoughts—fuck what reckless demon had possessed him? And how would Amy react to his stupid move? All I wanted to do was talk to Amy and show her...A firm knock on the door snapped me out of my reverie, and as I glanced up, there stood Amy, her demeanor tentative, lips caught between her teeth.“Hmm.. Mr. Crawford...” she began, but I cut her off.“Let me stop you there, Amy,” I said, rising from my chair and stuffing my hands into my pockets. “I’m sorry for what Caleb did. He had no right to pull that stunt. I’ll talk to him about it.”Amy’s eyes widened fractionally, but she remained silent, her expression inscrutable. Pressing on, I continued, my voice heavy with remorse. “And as for the competition, you needn’t feel obligated to participate. I’ll speak with Ms. Perry and sort things out with Liam. I apologize for the chaos Caleb
Amy “Hello,” I said as I picked up Ryan’s call. It was a rare occurrence for him to contact me directly from his office, so I couldn’t help but feel confused. “Hello, Amy,” his deep, husky voice sent a shiver down my spine, and I quickly composed myself. “Mr. Crawford. What can I do for you?” I responded, my tone professional despite the slight flutter in my chest. Our recent encounter on the gazebo lingered in my mind, a reminder of the unspoken tension between us. He mumbled something, barely audible, prompting me to request, “Hmm.. I am sorry I did not get that. Can you repeat it, please?” “Nothing,” he sighed, his tone heavy with an unspoken weight. “Can you do something for me?” Considering Liam’s impending school pickup, I proposed a delay. “Hmm... Alright, but I have to pick up Liam in an hour. Can it wait until then?” I asked, multitasking as I organized Liam’s lesson plan for the week. Liam’s insatiable curiosity and thirst for knowledge always kept me on my toes. “Jim
Ryan“Okay, so we’ve resolved all these bugs?” I leaned forward, addressing my team with a hint of urgency in my voice. The beta phase of our project was nearing its end, and there was no room for errors.“Yes, sir,” Mr. Martin confirmed, his brow glistening with a sheen of sweat. Most of the team, including Paula, our project lead, had been tirelessly working to iron out the kinks. “We’ve also made significant progress on the client reports and deliverables. We’ll be fully prepared for the launch.”“Keep me updated.” I nodded, acknowledging their efforts, before concluding the presentation.“Mr. Crawford,” Caine interrupted, sliding a stack of documents across the table. “These require your signature.”He turned the pages as I took a cursory reading and signed them absentmindedly. My sleep-deprived eyes stung with exhaustion, a consequence of the restless night I’d spent haunted by thoughts of Amy standing alone on the gazebo. Her sorrowful eyes and melancholic smile had etched themse
Amy“Good job, buddy,” I smiled and patted Liam’s back. “Do you want some juice after you are done with the amazing tower?”Liam’s brow furrowed as he looked at the enormous tower he made of Legos. He looked so cute, all concentrated on his task. He looked just like.....“Liam,” I called out a bit more firmly, hoping to draw him out of his Lego world.“Hmm?” he hummed, placing the block man on the tower, still ignoring me.“Liam,” I pouted. “Are you still angry at me?”“No, I am not,” he said in a snippy tone.“No?” I arched an eyebrow playfully, attempting to hide my amusement. “Does that mean we can go grab some juice now?”Liam scowled and crossed his arms defiantly. “No juice. I’m not talking to you. I’m mad.”My expression shifted to one of mock shock. “But you just said you’re not angry with me,” I teased, trying to suppress a laugh. I knew I shouldn’t laugh, but he was so cute.Liam huffed again, but I couldn’t hold back any longer. Rising from the sofa, I enveloped him in a hug
RyanWith my eyes half-closed and my mind still clouded with sleep, I reached for my incessantly ringing phone on the nightstand. The sudden glare of the screen made me groan in annoyance.“What now?” I grumbled, answering the call.“Did I just wake up the great under-the-wire asshole who made me rise at seven in the morning for a meeting he didn’t bother showing up to?” Mark’s voice came through, laced with sarcasm.“Fuck, was that today?” I muttered, rubbing my eyes and trying to muster some alertness. “I’ll be there in a few minutes.”“A few minutes? It is already 11 am, dude. Are you okay?” Mark said.“What?” I exclaimed, the fog of sleep lifting abruptly. “Damn it. I overslept.”“Are you still the punctual Mr. I-am-never-late, or did aliens swap you out for a newer model?” Mark started chuckling while I got up, trying not to be annoyed at his stupid voice first thing in the morning.“Cut the crap,” I retorted, ending the call and ignoring his amusement.Running my hand through my
AmyI should be running to the hills, but here I am, spread wide on Ryan’s soft bed. The red flags are waving furiously–his obnoxious and rude behavior, and recent date with another woman–yet my brain waves goodbye to rationality.Yes, I danced with another guy, but this... this connection with Ryan feels like he’s sizzling playing with my body, soul, and spirit. Nerves and excitement course through me.I stared up at him as he gazed down at me and I tried not to have a stroke. He stands there, a formidable force, resembling a God of malice and mating. The dimly lit room enhances his dangerous aura. The room itself is virile, lacking any touch of softness, but right now, my focus is solely on the man before me.“Open your legs, baby. Take off your panties, but leave everything else on,” he commands, his voice a low, commanding rumble. His eyes darkened, a storm brewing within them, filled with an unmistakable hunger that sent a shiver down my spine.“Don't make me repeat myself!” he gr
RyanMy body came alive as I felt her skin on mine. It’s like a live wire sparkling and dancing. Fuck! Thoughts in my mind were a chaotic swirl, making it impossible to make sense of anything. The thumping music and kaleidoscope lights of Vengeance faded away as we departed from the club, leaving me with a singular focus—Amy on my shoulder, her soft form pressed against me, her tempting ass close to my face, and the rhythmic drumming of her fists on my back.“Put me down,” Amy demanded, her body squirming in my grasp.I tightened my grip on her hip as I held her in the fireman’s carry. “Stop moving before I pinch this sexy ass.” My threat emerged through gritted teeth.“Don’t you dare,” she shot back, squirming once more and delivering punches to my back that felt like a fucking massage on my back.My mind popped up, an image of her massaging me sitting on my back of course both of us are naked. My already hardened cock responded with a twitch.“Put me down, Ryan, or I swear.....”Her
