The next moment, he walked straight through me like I was made of air.

I was once again propelled to his side by an unknown force, and I watched as he paused, then slid to the ground, clutching his chest. His bloodshot eyes were narrowed, and he was whimpering, "Rosie, is this how it feels like to have a heart attack? Is this your way of punishing me?"

I shook my head, smiling. "Now you can finally understand how I've felt, right? Too bad for you. This punishment is still nowhere near enough to compensate for your actions."

Connor clung to the wall and slowly got to his feet. "Rosie! I don't believe it! I won't believe this until I see it for myself! This can't possibly be true! There's no way you're dead! The news must be lying!"

With his fists clenched, he turned and sprinted out of the building.

I was forced to follow him, and hatred seethed within me as I watched him trudge along the pavement, looking small and lonely.
