“So Trisha, you’re an Accountant?” tanong ni Rheanne.
She talked to everyone but her.
“I’m a Junior Accountant at Lucian Group,” nakangiting sagot niya dito.
Nakita niya ang slight grin nito, warning her to be cautious with her before the attack. “So you were just an accounting staff?” saad nito at ngumiti kay Myrtelle when she silently laughed at the insult.
“Rhey!” saway ni Suzette.
“I am an accounting staff.” Trisha proudly said. “I am actually proud to be one. You see, we are the heart of any business especially the big ones,” kalmadong dagdag ni Trisha. She smiled, “without us…there will be financial chaos, so I’m suggesting you should give time to thank them, they will help you succeed…someday,” sabay kindat kay Rheanne. Pero she’s not intimidated.
I’m so hungry.”
Trisha sighed after she realized what she had done.
“Nicely done!”
“I’m really sorry.
“Oh my God! That was so funny. You’re so feisty,” saad nito matapos huminga ng malalim upang kalmahin ang sarili.
“We’re just not used to seeing Marsden hanging out with other women aside us. Rhey and Merth are kind of possessive. Can you forgive them?” paliwanag ni Suzette.
“I understand, huwag kayong mag-alala. Well, my pride was raising its ugly head now and I’m sorry,” aniya.
“Hey ladies, hungry for me?” nakangiting saad ni Drazen habang nakangiti at dala-dala ang isang malaking plato ng chicken and pork barbeque.
Elise just laughed and started to eat the chicken thigh. “He won’t mind, he endured a lot of it already.”
“Hungry?” nakangiting tanong nito.
“Famish!” sabay kagat sa barbeque.
Marsden chuckled and ate his own food. He was thankful that he did actually enjoy their reunion. Trisha was a big help. He can see the enjoyment in her eyes everytime their eyes met which was actually often. She blended with them easily and he was very touched by the effort. She’s really a good friend.
After eating they played, talked and laughed. When it’s already midnight they went to their respective rooms to rest.
Hinatid siya ni Marsden sa kanyang kwarto and bid her goodnight with a kiss in the cheek.
It’s bad! Naibulong niya sa sarili. They are friends and she wanted for them to remain this way but she’s feeling something within her that were asking for more. “Nahuhulog na ba ako?”
★★★
Marsden was leaning over the railings while drinking a bottle of beer.
“So, paano kayo nagkakilala?” tanong niya kay Max nang bumalik ito from the kitchen bringing more beers.
“Drake and I were colleagues in some cases and I met Trisha when he brought her in a thanksgiving party.” Ngumiti ito at tumabi sa kanya. “She’s so beautiful in a sparkly black dress and with those curves man you can’t blame me if I…” natigilan ito nang makita ang nakakunot niyang noo. “Well I flirted a little when I saw her at the garden alone. I didn’t know her yet and I’m getting tipsy so I…” tumingin ulit ito sa kanya.
Napalunok si Max. “I accidentally touched her butt and she doesn’t like it and punched me at my eye,” mabilis niyang turan sabay turo sa kanang mata.
Natawa si Marsden. Mas lalo siyang bumilib kay Trisha. “Serves you right bro,” sabay tapik sa shoulder ni Max.
“Well, unfortunately I was the second one who tried to put a hand on her,” pailing-iling na saad ni Max.
“What?” galit na turan ni Marsden. “The bastard!”
“Bastard you mean the old man or the boyfriend?” nangingiti ito.
“Both!” aniyang naiinis.
Max looked at him curiously. “All the attention was on him, he’s good at his job, I give him that.”
“He’s bad as a boyfriend. If I were him, I wouldn’t left her alone. If I were him, I’ll be too happy to–” Marsden realized kung anong nasabi niya. He didn’t meant to say it aloud o kahit isipin man lang. Trisha can never be his.
Max smiled knowingly. “How about you? How come you’ve been caught kissing at the airport if you’re not dating?”
“You saw it? She was unfairly accused. His boyfriend was the one who cheated.”
Marsden relayed the incident to Max who seconded his opinion of Drake as a bastard!
“Wow! What a small world,” anito nang matapos siya.
“So you mean Trisha was your friend when you and your mom live in San Juan?”
“Yup!” Marsden was now casually leaning his side at the railings and looked at the dark horizon. His mom. He still miss her even after 17 years.
“Did the nightmare visit you again. Your memories with Trisha could trigger it?” pag-aalala nitong tanong sa kanya.
“It came back the first time when I helped her with the scandal…We reminisced a lot of the past. Actually, I enjoyed it. Other memories reminded me of mom but the pain was lesser because we laughed so hard. I’m starting to fully remember those times with them.” Nakataw pa rin siya sa dagat.
“But the nightmare came back…and it didn’t disturbed you at all?”
He grinned. “I’m used to not sleeping well,” aniyang pabiro. The nightmare only visited him when he was tired. When he was feeling low. As if it can only fight his mind when he was in his weakest.
“Really Mars…if you needed anything just tell me bro. Are you really sure furthering your friendship is good?”
“Don’t worry I’m handling it well. I’m not the broken boy I used to be,” aniya assuring his friend.
Sa ibaba ng terrace sitting at the front step was Trisha. Nightmare, the thought that she can trigger it and the question if it is good to further their friendship remain in her mind especially the broken boy Marsden used to be. She silently sat at the higher step. When they were together palagi itong nakangiti, palagi siyang tinutukso at palagi rin siyang may nababanggit na alaala noong mga bata pa sila. Without knowing when he was alone he was fighting a battle brought by just being with her.
Bago paman may makakita sa kanya dahan-dahan siyang bumalik sa kanyang kwarto at malungkot na humiga sa kama. Is it really good to further their friendship or is it better to stop? She wanted to cry because for almost two months their friendship has already became a big part of her life.
Siyempre maliban kina Rheanne at Myrtelle. “Good morning! “Good morning!” bulong nito sa kanya while grinning. “Don’t worry, kakagising lang din namin.” He poured a hot coffee sa cup niya at nagpat
“Oy beshie bakit reregaluhan mo ako?” excited nitong tanong. “Bakit naman kita bibigyan, ano ako mayaman?” pag-iinis niya. “Umalis ka nga sa harapan ko. Bruhang to paasa.” Tumawa si Abby. “Hindi seryoso talaga, ano bang gusto mong mataggap bukas?” “’Yong boylet mong kasama noong sabado sa mall pwede?” “Sira! Pinsan ko ‘yon. He’s a Noli Me Tangere sis. Touch Me Not, okay?”
“Sayang naman, we’re looking forward to meet him. Oy! May kaibigan nga itong artista, negosyante, artist, heiress at model
She wanted to thank him personally and perhaps to say sorry for the ultimatum. They might not see each other again but atleast they separated in a good way. “He knew me, baka pwedeng itawag mo muna?”
“Miss you too dearest!” aniya.
“Mars?!” Hindi siya makapaniwalang ito ang kumakatok. Pero hindi siya maaring magkamali. Boses ito ng kaibigan. “Are you okay?” nag-aalala nitong tanong at itinigil na ang pagkatok. She took refuge in his embrace. He hugged her tight and slowly caressed her back and head for comfort. “Everything is fine…the
Mag-isa siyang kumakain, natutulog at naglalaro.
Trisha opened her eyes and swiftly looked at the door, still feeling the sensation of fright in her nerves. Huminga siya ng malalim and calmly looked at her side. The lampshade was dim but when her eyes adjusted with the dark, she felt before she saw the deep and rapid breath Marsden took. Umupo si Trisha at hinawakan ang noo nito to check if he was having a fever but a cold sweat touched her palm and Trisha knew he was having a nightmare. The nightmare he was trying to fight alone. “Mars?” sabay mahinang tapik sa pisngi nito. “Hey stay with me,” saad niya ng marinig ang mahinang ungol nito. His eyes were closed and brows were furrowed showing a troubled face. Trisha shoke his shoulders but he seemed so in deep that he can’t break free. Worrily Trisha touched his cheek smoothly and partially lay down on top of him. She heard the
After a while, she raised her head, blew her nose with her handkerchief and looked at him. He wiped a drop of tear upon her lip. “What happened?”“It’s because of me…it’s my fault, I killed an innocent child Mars.”“What are you talking about?”She retold Chelsea’s accusations and it angered him.“Nothing happened that night, I just let him kiss me to show him I don’t feel anything anymore, to have a closure, for him to leave me alone.”“Hey, hey, listen to me,” gently palming her cheeks with both hands. “It’s not your fault, it was an accident.”“I know, yet I’m so afraid…what if karma befell me. I know I shouldn’t because God won’t be that cruel pero kasalanan pa rin ‘yun. She lost her child because of me, because I let Ash kissed me that night. I have the choice to stop it but I didn’t–““And what are you afraid of? That someday it will also happen to you?” Napansin niyang natigilan ito. “We all have our sins Trish and what you think you’ve done is not even your fault at all.
It’s been a week since Trisha heard Chelsea’s reason for hating her and no matter how much she tried to be optimistic and stop herself from feeling guilty, she can’t. Because she was there, and Ash did kissed her and she let him, to show him that she’s not affected anymore, there’s no spark, that things have changed for months of being apart after she transferred to a public school. And also to close their relationship properly, to say goodbye, so Ash would stop those childish acts that forced her to come to him. Chloe was in Davao with her boss and Marsden was in Bacolod to close a big deal. She missed him so badly especially now that she’s feeling down. They talked over the phone yet being together physically is different. She can’t eat properly, she can’t even sleep for fearing of the nightmare that came to her that night after she and Chelsea talked. She woke up crying, feeling the pain of losing someone, her heart cried and ache for someone. Her baby, her own baby. Most
Weeks passed and Marsden and Trisha enjoyed every moment spent with each other. They read books together, do joggings together at the park Marsden usually do joggings. Marsden stayed with her in her apartment, together they went to the office and when Marsden needed to extend his time at work, he always asked Gareth, one of his trusted employees to drive her home using Marsden’s car.Trisha knew her friends noticed the change in their relationship but she always denies it. They both agreed to keep it secret and asked Chloe and Rudy to do the same. In the eyes of the others who knew them both they were just friends. Everyday, waking up with Marsden was like livin
When Trisha woke up the next morning, she felt like someone who had finally woken up from sleeping for years. She just lay there and closed her eyes again to thanks God for this another day. Last night she thought it would be her last or if not, Arnel would definitely left her devastated and surely ruined. She wanted to cry again, not of fear this time but thankful and relieved to have her guardian angels. “Marsden,” she whispered as his face appeared on her consciousness. She can’t stop the blush traveling over her face as she remembered something else that happened last night. Naitakip niya ang mga palad sa mukha as the events played before her eyes. Feeling giddy for the words he’d uttered and guilty, definitely guilty for sleeping on him. When finally she decided to clean up and went down to the kitchen, her stomach growled with the delicious smell coming from there. Trisha thought him gone but she heard his voice singing along with the music on his phone. Nakita niyang b
Jade was calling Arnel for the hundredth time but it’s always out of coverage. She was anxious to know what happened and even excited to hear her enemy’s downfall. A sly grin slowly appeared over her face. Finally, if Trisha get devastated and change her positivity, Jade’s beloved Ash wouldn’t like the bitch anymore, and she will have him for good. Finally! Finally! But the bastard Arnel can’t be reached and it’s disturbing her nerves. She was about to leave and go to the bar where Arnel wasn’t banned when someone knocked on her bedroom door repeatedly. Her dad is in congress and her mom visited her friends. Who could it be? “I’m coming, I’m coming,” aniyang naiinis at padabog na binuksan ang pinto. “A-Ash!” Jade was a little bit shocked to see him and a sudden burst of anxiety dwells in her rapidly beating heart. What if Ash realized what she’d done? But he looked calm, maybe he is here to ask her out. She pasted her sweetest smile. “Hey, come in.” She led him to her sof
“We should terminate the contract to avoid being caught up with his illegal deeds,” Marsden said in anger. “But sir–“ “Your department is the one whose responsibility is to check the credibility of the people we get into contract with. How come, that this problem is here now taunting our patience.” He looked at their eyes one by one. “Don’t make me caught you receiving commissions from our clientele just for their papers to pass the screening.” They just looked down and received his scolding. This is a serious matter. These men are in the company even when his grandfather was still the chairman. He trusted their loyalties but someone is surely having his loyalty bought. Worriedly, he excused himself at pumunta sa kanyang opisina. He saw Drew outside of his office. He was angry and worried while Drew re
“Mag-oovertime ako ngayon, I have a deadline which I think, is impossible to meet.” “I already explained it to her, pero hindi siya nakikinig and after the meeting she just left. To start, Chelsea was having an indefinite leave. Unfortunately, as Chelsea is leaving, the staff are required to finish monthly reports this week and other necesarry reports for their new boss. Trisha handles four large branches and it’s defin
“God! She’s killing me!” Marsden whispered to himself when he got inside his car. It’s getting harder to control himself around her. He wanted to give in, he wanted to feel her, embraced her, wrapped himself with her heat. But his mind, the one who keeps on reminding him of his promise not to let his heart rule again over his head, waking him like a drench of cold water. He snorted with the thought that she wanted to learn flirting. She’s already a killer and he’s not sure if he can survive the next time. He tried to keep it cool, everytime this crazy attraction pulls him like a magnet and every day gets harder and harder to resist. Tomorrow, he should tell Trisha to stop what she feels because he doesn’t feel the same, such a big lie. He should stop this and if being far from her is the only solution then he had no other choice.
Days passed and Trisha and Marsden renewed their friendship. Eating together at breakfast and sometimes at dinner. But one thing that change is that he never sleepover anymore. Even when the rain never stop pouring, he always had reasons to go. Sometimes it makes Trisha laugh to think he was afraid that she would lose into temptation and ravish him at night. But then, reality also makes her sad that even though their friendship was returned, he was still careful and maybe just trying to spare her feelings…he might not have directly told her to stop but she felt how much he avoided her failed flirtations. It was not easy really, because Trisha don’t know how to flirt. With her previous relationships, she wasn’t actually into flirting, was not motivated or doesn’t have the chance or maybe theirs were different with how she felt with Marsden. However, she is quiet enjoying it. Everytime he looked at her in a way that to
