Gabi na kaya wala ng tao pero madaming pathway lights illuminating the whole place and Trisha liked the place already. At the center there’s a playground with slides, seesaws and swings. Trisha glanced at Marsden observing his manly built stealthily. The skinny boy was no longer there but he is still tall as she remembered at the storeroom. Trisha just reaches his chin with her 5”4’ height.
“We’re here,” lumabas na ito and opened the passenger door to help her out. Nag ala-gentleman in a date ito offering his hand. “My lady?”
Trisha chuckled. “Thank you my lord,” sabay hawak sa kamay nito. When Trisha saw the view beyond Marsden’s shoulder she was momentarily stunned by the beauty of it. The only light that shined upon them are the headlights of Marsden’s car. Trisha went ahead and saw a wide lawn between trees. They are in a hill and below are the most refreshing view Trisha saw her entire life. The different color of lights in the city below are like stones beneath the earth. Glimmering in the dark. Shining the busy city, giving life.
She smiled at him before he sat on the grass. She can still feel the heat left in his coat from his body and the warmth was good. Hindi niya alam kung anong sasabihin niya, she knew thank you is not enough.
“Thank you Mars, ang ganda dito, sariwa ang hangin,” she take a deep breath. “So refreshing.”
“You’re welcome, what friends are for,” he chuckled and said, “we’re still friends right?” He offered the burger and drink to her and ate his own food with gusto.
“At tsaka you’ve seen the worst of me already.” And then reminding him of her previous drunken state when she slightly did a puking gesture.
Marsden guffawed at what she did. Looking at her right now he remembered the Trisha he knew back then…she knew just how to make him laugh (unconsciously), always trying to be one of the boys, innocently funny at gumaganti kapag tinutukso nilang dalawa ng kuya nito. He chuckled when he remembered something then drank the soda in can.
“What? What’s so funny?” curious na tanong ni Trisha.
Marsden gave him a one sided smile and one dimple winked at her. “I just remembered how funny you were.”
Trisha pouted. “Really?” She felt a little insulted.
“I think innocently funny was the right word. You did things clumsily even that time when you wanted to get back at me for not letting you play with my favorite truck,” natatawang saad ni Marsden.
Trisha vaguely remembered the scene in the pool when the three of them were playing at their backyard beside it. Marsden and her kuya Marco were racing their remote controlled moster trucks at the lawn.
“Well whatever happened after was all your fault,” nangingiting turan ni Trisha.
“My fault?” Marsden laughingly said. “Sabagay, kasalanan ko nga siguro... but wait! One thing for sure, I didn’t pushed you and you knew it.”
Trisha bit her lower lip to stop her amusement. “It was the first time in my life that I thought of an evil deed, planning to push you into the pool,” tumingin siya sa itaas, “and God chastised me right away.” They both laughed.
Trisha was known for her clumsiness kaya naman bago pa man niya mailapat ang mga palad sa likod ni Marsden, she slipped directly towards the water.
“Oh my God, I thought I was going to die,” saad ni Trisha. Natatawa pa rin sila as they reminisced that day.
“Believe me I was really trying to save you. I just jumped without thinking and forgot I can’t swim.” He laughed harder.
Napapaluha na si Trisha sa kakatawa, she was holding her stomach to ease the quivering that tingles her whole body. “I remembered how I gripped you but still drowning,” sabay pahid sa luhang nasa sulok ng kanyang mga mata.
“At that time, you’re heavier than I was, kahit anong gawin kong pagkampay pumapailalim pa rin ako.”
Trisha punched him lightly at the shoulder while still laughing.
Huminga siya ng malalim to compose herself. Humiga siya sa damuhan to relax her nerves, “nakakapagod tumawa.” They faced each other, still smiling. “Those were the days I wanted to go back to.” She gazed at the stars above them. “I never hated you for real back then. I was so embarassed to admit na kasalanan ko ang lahat that’s why I acted like you pushed me, as if I can’t forgive you.” She looked back at Marsden and seriously said. ”Deep inside, you’re still my friend even though si kuya ‘yong palagi mong kalaro.”
Marsden propped his arms behind his head. “His the brother I never had, I always enjoyed playing with him so even if I wanted to play with you, I was always ready to do what he said and not to negate him. Besides at that time, he just wanted you to play with your own sex.”
He always do what’s best for her. He became the parent she needed even though he also needed a parent to lean on. They were so young back then to fend for themselves but Marco supported Trisha on his own. That is why Trisha was so upset when she saw the picture and the comments in f******k. She covered her eyes with her arm when she felt the tears dripping down her ears. She bit her lower lip to stifle her sob.
A moment passed bago nagsalita si Marsden. “What happened back there in the hotel?” Pinipilit niyang kalmahin ang sarili so that Trisha would relax and will feel comfortable to share.
Ibinaba ni Trisha ang braso na nakatakip sa mga mata and rest both arms over her stomach. She looked at the sstar. “Chelsea, my cousin, planned it all. Hindi coincidence na ando’n ako sa airport and catched them together. She called and told me that Drake was waiting for her at the airport that very moment. We’re celebrating our 3rd Anniversary, you see!” Huminga siya ng malalim, she realized the betrayal of trust was more painful than seeing them together. “May kumakalat…na picture sa f******k.” She looked at Marsden, nahihiya siya dito dahil pati ito nadadamay. Nakahiga parin ito sa tabi niya, he looked relax but when Trisha stared at his face, his forehead was furrowed and there’s a flicker of anger in his eyes when he looked at her. “I’m really sorry for dragging you to this mess, remember when I k-kissed you, Chelsea must have someone in the airport to take photos. Someone posted it and I’m afraid kuya Marco had already seen it. A-All those comments will hurt him for sure.”
Marsden can’t control the anger that was surely showing on his face so he sat up and opened his knuckles to relax them. He wanted to punched the guy and he hated the cousin. Deep within him was smoldering. Trisha was like a sister, ever since she accepted him as her friend. When he found out that this woman was the Trisha he’d known in his childhood, he started to missed them. God knows how he avoided things that could remind him of her mother’s death so he resolved to forget the past but now the memories were gradually coming back and surprisingly reminiscing with Trisha eased the bad memories.
He took a deep breathe. “Show me the picture, I knew someone who can put it down.”
Agad napaupo si Trisha, her eyes were full of hope. Agad niyang kinuha ang cellphone sa kanyang purse and disregarded the notifications, afraid to confirm if his kuya Marco had already seen the picture, she directly opened her f******k account. Nang makita niya ang picture posted in her wall, ibinigay niya ang cellphone kay Marsden na ngayon ay may kausap na sa cellphone.
“Yes, I’ll send you the link right away. Thank you,” he chuckled. “Let’s have a drink sometime, my treat.” Nang ibaba ni Marsden ang phone, kinuha niya ang cellphone kay Trisha and looked at the picture. He smirked, “hmmm…not bad!”
Trisha chuckled at his reaction, but she can’t help the blush instantly warming her face.
When everything was settled Marsden drove Trisha home.
“Coffee?” Offer ni Trisha ng nasa labas na sila ng car ni Marsden in front of the gate.
Marsden was leaning at his car door with his hands inside his trouser’s pockets and one of his ankles crossed over the other. He felt relaxed now that Trisha’s problems were lessen a bit and she too looked relaxed and prettily smiling at him despite the redish eyes and nose. “I’ll pass, you should take a rest but next time you owe me one,” sabay kindat dito.
Trisha smiled and waved goodbye pagkatapos nilang magpalitan ng numbers but before he could open the driver’s door, Trisha went to him.
“Wait! May nakalimutan ako, here,” sabay lahad ng kanang kamay kay Marsden.
Marsden smiled and took her hand for a handshake. Alam niya kung anong balak nitong gawin. He remembered it, he dreamed of it.
“I’m Trisha Lee M. Fuentes,” nangingiting saad nito.
Marsden chuckled. “Marsden Fonacier.”
Hindi nila binitawan ang kamay ng isat-isa because they were both anticipating what will happen next.
“Okay, so this is a renewal of our long lost friendship–“ she chuckled “–and it was already established that I never really hated you. And I wanted to say sorry for accusing you of pushing me before.” Marsden laughed and looked at Trisha with amusement in his eyes. “And of course for hating you then when you left without saying goodbye. I know you have your reasons and I wanted us to start all over again. I wanted to welcome you back…so…please! be kind to stop my rumbling,” they both laughed heartily.
When Trisha looked up at the wall clock in the living room after she freshened up, it was already one in the morning. She lazily lounge over the sofa. She took her cellphone and decided to text Marsden.
Hey! Safe ka bang nakauwi?
A minute passed ng tumunog ang cellphone niya for incoming calls.
“Yup! Actually preparing to sleep,” saad ni Marsden sa kabilang linya.
Trisha smiled, “okay, goodnight then!”
“Goodnight.”
Tanghali na nang bumangon si Trisha and lazily went to the kitchen to prepare something to eat. Ginising siya ng kumakalam niyang sikmura. She was yawning when the front door opened and revealed her bestfriend. “Chlo!” sabay takbo ni Trisha and affectionately hugged her bestfriend. Minutes passed, Trisha was still clinging to her. “I’m so glad you’re here,” prolonging the so. “So how are you?” Chloe asked as she pulled Trisha towards the sofa. “I’m fine,” hinawakan niya ang mga kamay nito. “Really, I am,” pangungumbinsi niya dito nang mapakunot-noo ang kaibigan. She really did feel fine. Remembering Marsden’s help last night, she told her friend everything that happened. “That Jade I would really skin her alive, bruha talaga. Friends with the same feathers really flucks together,” galit na galit na turan ni
When she got home from the market, agad siyang naligo at nagsimula ng magluto. She already baked a chocolate cake last night and also marinated the chicken in her special sauce. She wanted to make it special that’s why she searched the internet for additional tips. After two hours, she was almost done and just preparing the salad dressing when a knock came at the door. She took her apron but remembering how she looked, agad niyang inayos ang kanyang loose ponytail. When she opened the door, she was stunned for a moment. May artista ata sa bahay ko! Kinurap niya ang mga mata. “Hey!” she said smiling at Marsden. “Hi!”
Trisha and Drake were both putting their relationship behind. Once in a while nagpapadala ito ng chocolates from Pixies which her friends really love to eat. Ngayon nga may delivery nanaman siya from Pixies, one dozen of mini chocolate cupcakes na may chocolate frosting on top. “Oh my God Trisha, huwag mo munang sagutin si Marsden para may rasyon pa rin tayo from Pixies,” saad ni Abby na sarap na sarap ang kain. Nakaupo ito sa kanyang cubicle habang busy siya sa pagphotocopy ng kany
“Do you love her still?” It took a while bago ito sumagot. “I don’t know. I haven’t think of her for quiet some time. I don’t think the feeling is still the same.” A flicker of discomfort pricked Trisha’s heart. She can’t explain the sudden tightness she felt when she heard his answer. It’s not right, she doesn’t want to dwell on it. “You’ve been asking yourself why he haven’t said sorry when he betrayed you right? Maybe the reason why the anger returned when he finally said it is that all along you were asking yourself, did I deserve what happened? Don’t I deserve the sorry? I’m not a psychologist pero minsan kasi we asked ourselves kung deserved ba natin ang masaktan. If all along ako pala ‘yong may kasalanan kaya nagkaganito–“ Natigilan si Trisha nang mahinuhang nakatitig ito sa kanya. “Shoot!” “What?” Nagug
Friday night Trisha was preparing to sleep and scanning her f******k account when she got a chat from Marsden. Ganito sila palaging nagcha-chat… kahit na ano lang ang topic, about their work and other nonsense. »Hey pretty! Whats up? She laid in her bed and replied: »Hey pretty!😝 Still getting prettier each day. »Same here girlie.hahaha »Hahahaha. Hey man how’s your day? »I’m not going to reply until you call me handsome. »(rolling my pretty eyeballs here) »Com’on I’ve called you pretty (I’m sulking here) Trisha laughed, para talaga itong bata. »Okay fine Mr. Handsome, how’s your day? »Yeeh! I
Hinihintay ni Marsden si Trisha sa loob ng sasakyan while searching a good music on his phone to play in the car radio. She radiated light in every turn and Marsden can’t stop the sudden sensation caressing his heart. She wore a yellow floral beach minidress. It surrounded her like a petal in bloom. He was attracted to her. No matter how he refused to admit it, the attraction lingered there whenever their together. Remembering their almost kiss and the urge to kiss her yesterday when he saw her playing with her lip took a lot of his self control. He sighed. I needed to date, and fast. She’s a friend Marsden, always remember that. Paalala niya sa kanyang sarili. “Hey!”
“Yeah, she makes him laugh.” “You knew her?” “Just an acquaintance, I knew his ex-boyfriend. Why all the questions Elise?” tanong ni Max with a mischievous smile. “Nothing! I’m just curious, they looked good together. Do you honestly believe na wala talagang namamagitan sa kanila?” curious na saad ni Elise. She was itching to know because if this girl was the one who could break Marsden’s wall then she wanted to make sure she was worth it. Max thought of the picture and mysteriously said. “I don’t know but it’s for them to find out and for us to wait patiently dear,” sabay tapik sa pisngi ni Elise at tuluyan ng umalis para magpahinga sa sarili niyang kwarto…he was also travel weary. Max knew Trisha had already cracked the outer shell Marsden had built to protect himself from the hurt again. Hopefully
“So Trisha, you’re an Accountant?” tanong ni Rheanne. She talked to everyone but her. “I’m a Junior Accountant at Lucian Group,” nakangiting sagot niya dito. Nakita niya ang slight grin nito, warning her to be cautious with her before the attack. “So you were just an accounting staff?” saad nito at ngumiti kay Myrtelle when she silently laughed at the insult. “Rhey!” saway ni Suzette. “I am an accounting staff.” Trisha proudly said. “I am actually proud to be one. You see, we
After a while, she raised her head, blew her nose with her handkerchief and looked at him. He wiped a drop of tear upon her lip. “What happened?”“It’s because of me…it’s my fault, I killed an innocent child Mars.”“What are you talking about?”She retold Chelsea’s accusations and it angered him.“Nothing happened that night, I just let him kiss me to show him I don’t feel anything anymore, to have a closure, for him to leave me alone.”“Hey, hey, listen to me,” gently palming her cheeks with both hands. “It’s not your fault, it was an accident.”“I know, yet I’m so afraid…what if karma befell me. I know I shouldn’t because God won’t be that cruel pero kasalanan pa rin ‘yun. She lost her child because of me, because I let Ash kissed me that night. I have the choice to stop it but I didn’t–““And what are you afraid of? That someday it will also happen to you?” Napansin niyang natigilan ito. “We all have our sins Trish and what you think you’ve done is not even your fault at all.
It’s been a week since Trisha heard Chelsea’s reason for hating her and no matter how much she tried to be optimistic and stop herself from feeling guilty, she can’t. Because she was there, and Ash did kissed her and she let him, to show him that she’s not affected anymore, there’s no spark, that things have changed for months of being apart after she transferred to a public school. And also to close their relationship properly, to say goodbye, so Ash would stop those childish acts that forced her to come to him. Chloe was in Davao with her boss and Marsden was in Bacolod to close a big deal. She missed him so badly especially now that she’s feeling down. They talked over the phone yet being together physically is different. She can’t eat properly, she can’t even sleep for fearing of the nightmare that came to her that night after she and Chelsea talked. She woke up crying, feeling the pain of losing someone, her heart cried and ache for someone. Her baby, her own baby. Most
Weeks passed and Marsden and Trisha enjoyed every moment spent with each other. They read books together, do joggings together at the park Marsden usually do joggings. Marsden stayed with her in her apartment, together they went to the office and when Marsden needed to extend his time at work, he always asked Gareth, one of his trusted employees to drive her home using Marsden’s car.Trisha knew her friends noticed the change in their relationship but she always denies it. They both agreed to keep it secret and asked Chloe and Rudy to do the same. In the eyes of the others who knew them both they were just friends. Everyday, waking up with Marsden was like livin
When Trisha woke up the next morning, she felt like someone who had finally woken up from sleeping for years. She just lay there and closed her eyes again to thanks God for this another day. Last night she thought it would be her last or if not, Arnel would definitely left her devastated and surely ruined. She wanted to cry again, not of fear this time but thankful and relieved to have her guardian angels. “Marsden,” she whispered as his face appeared on her consciousness. She can’t stop the blush traveling over her face as she remembered something else that happened last night. Naitakip niya ang mga palad sa mukha as the events played before her eyes. Feeling giddy for the words he’d uttered and guilty, definitely guilty for sleeping on him. When finally she decided to clean up and went down to the kitchen, her stomach growled with the delicious smell coming from there. Trisha thought him gone but she heard his voice singing along with the music on his phone. Nakita niyang b
Jade was calling Arnel for the hundredth time but it’s always out of coverage. She was anxious to know what happened and even excited to hear her enemy’s downfall. A sly grin slowly appeared over her face. Finally, if Trisha get devastated and change her positivity, Jade’s beloved Ash wouldn’t like the bitch anymore, and she will have him for good. Finally! Finally! But the bastard Arnel can’t be reached and it’s disturbing her nerves. She was about to leave and go to the bar where Arnel wasn’t banned when someone knocked on her bedroom door repeatedly. Her dad is in congress and her mom visited her friends. Who could it be? “I’m coming, I’m coming,” aniyang naiinis at padabog na binuksan ang pinto. “A-Ash!” Jade was a little bit shocked to see him and a sudden burst of anxiety dwells in her rapidly beating heart. What if Ash realized what she’d done? But he looked calm, maybe he is here to ask her out. She pasted her sweetest smile. “Hey, come in.” She led him to her sof
“We should terminate the contract to avoid being caught up with his illegal deeds,” Marsden said in anger. “But sir–“ “Your department is the one whose responsibility is to check the credibility of the people we get into contract with. How come, that this problem is here now taunting our patience.” He looked at their eyes one by one. “Don’t make me caught you receiving commissions from our clientele just for their papers to pass the screening.” They just looked down and received his scolding. This is a serious matter. These men are in the company even when his grandfather was still the chairman. He trusted their loyalties but someone is surely having his loyalty bought. “Sir!” bulong ni Hans sa kanya. “Nasa office mo si Trisha at Drew.” Napangiti siya nang marinig ang pangalan ni Trisha pero nagulat siya ng marinig na kasama nito si Drew. Worriedly, he excused himself at pumunta sa kanyang opisina. He saw Drew outside of his office. He was angry and worried while Drew re
“Mag-oovertime ako ngayon, I have a deadline which I think, is impossible to meet.” “I already explained it to her, pero hindi siya nakikinig and after the meeting she just left. To start, Chelsea was having an indefinite leave. Unfortunately, as Chelsea is leaving, the staff are required to finish monthly reports this week and other necesarry reports for their new boss. Trisha handles four large branches and it’s defin
“God! She’s killing me!” Marsden whispered to himself when he got inside his car. It’s getting harder to control himself around her. He wanted to give in, he wanted to feel her, embraced her, wrapped himself with her heat. But his mind, the one who keeps on reminding him of his promise not to let his heart rule again over his head, waking him like a drench of cold water. He snorted with the thought that she wanted to learn flirting. She’s already a killer and he’s not sure if he can survive the next time. He tried to keep it cool, everytime this crazy attraction pulls him like a magnet and every day gets harder and harder to resist. Tomorrow, he should tell Trisha to stop what she feels because he doesn’t feel the same, such a big lie. He should stop this and if being far from her is the only solution then he had no other choice. ‘*** “Teka, ang aga pa ata nangangapitbahay ka na?” aniya
Days passed and Trisha and Marsden renewed their friendship. Eating together at breakfast and sometimes at dinner. But one thing that change is that he never sleepover anymore. Even when the rain never stop pouring, he always had reasons to go. Sometimes it makes Trisha laugh to think he was afraid that she would lose into temptation and ravish him at night. But then, reality also makes her sad that even though their friendship was returned, he was still careful and maybe just trying to spare her feelings…he might not have directly told her to stop but she felt how much he avoided her failed flirtations. It was not easy really, because Trisha don’t know how to flirt. With her previous relationships, she wasn’t actually into flirting, was not motivated or doesn’t have the chance or maybe theirs were different with how she felt with Marsden. However, she is quiet enjoying it. Everytime he looked at her in a way that to
