“So, how’s ‘the thing’ huh?!” kinikilig na tanong ng ka-officemate ni Trisha, even quoting with her hands when she mentioned ‘the thing’. Nasa cafeteria silang dalawa situated at the ground floor. It’s been a week since the incident at hindi pa sila nagkikita ni Drake dahil nasa Conference ito. He didn’t even contacted her nor she did to him. It just like both of them were avoiding the issue.
“Ano bang pinagsasabi mo?” Pilit siyang ngumiti para hindi nito mahalata that there’s something wrong.
“Ano ka ba! It’s your Third Anniversary, don’t tell me nothing happened?” pangungulit nito.
Actually, something happened. “I’m not ready yet!” pagsisinunghaling niya dito.
“Hay naku! Alam mo ba kung gaano kagwapo ‘yang boyfriend mong ‘yan? Everyone wants to do him, except me of course, and that’s because you’re my friend. Here I am respecting your relationship and here you are denying me the pleasure of knowing how really good he is in bed!” panunukso nito not realizing the agony she’s feeling right now hidden behind the smiles she kept plastered in her face.
Yeah, everyone wants to do him especially my cousin. Nakaramdam siya ng inis, “Why don’t you ask them, maybe they knew.”
“Seryoso ka ba?” gulat nitong tanong.
Nang marealized ang sinabi agad siyang ngumiti, “just kidding!” She bit her lower lip to control her emotions. She can’t blame Abby for asking questions. Before, she actually liked it when she asked about things with Drake. She talked and asked bold questions that would really embarrassed you and those who can hear would be scarred for life. Yeah! Medyo sikat silang dalawa as couple amongst all employees here in the Central Office. Drake is the ideal boyfriend material, handsome with a happy go lucky smile yet having an intelligent aura because obviously he is an attorney. He also played basketball like a pro since his college days.
“Hey Trish, are you okay?” pag-aalalang turan nito. “I’ve been meaning to ask you these past days, you don’t look well, may problema ka ba?”
Nginitian niya ito to assure her that everything is all right. “Opps! Minamadali nga pala ni madam ‘yong report na hinihingi niya sa akin. I’m done and I need to go. Seeyah!”
Dumaan muna siya ng powder room in the 8th Floor where the Financial Offices are located. She keep on telling herself not to think about it too much yet she can’t control herself everytime someone asked her about Drake. Thankfully, no one saw what happened at the airport. Just thinking how she would handle things when she and Drake finally met after the unofficial break-up is unthinkable. After composing herself she went out at muntikan ng may makabangga, mabuti na lamang at mabilis siyang napatigil to avoid the collision.
“Sorry!” Aalis na sana siya to avoid the woman.
“Hello Trisha! I’ve been wondering lately where you were, I haven’t seen you for a while.” Nakangiti ito so sweetly that Trisha wanted to rip the woman’s teeth.
Humarap siya dito with a fake smile of her own. “Jade, it’s nice to see you, mauna na ako.” She doesn’t have the strength to talk to Jade, who was a close friend of Chelsea.
Nagpatuloy pa rin ito, still having that annoying smile. “I heard some news, a very good one by the way, that you and Drake broke-up.”
Hindi siya makapagsalita. Chelsea must have told her friend or friends what happened on Sunday. She felt humiliated by the insulting look Jade was giving her, they must be pitying her. She can’t think of a come back and just stand there letting Jade see the pain that must be showing in her face.
“Poor girl, it must be hard realizing your boyfriend’s betrayal. Well, I guess he deserves someone better…in bed!”
Nanghihina siyang umupo sa kanyang cubicle and massage her aching temple. She doesn’t have the luxury to be weak especially when words come out regarding their break-up. She needed Chloe right now but she’s still out of town with her boss in a Conference. Suddenly, the memory of the guy named Marsden came to her and the picture of their kiss surprised Trisha. She doesn’t expected how clear the scene was. Like it totally astounded her how thinking about a stranger calmed her nerves and lightened her emotions. Siguro dahil sa friendly aura nito or the fact that he took good care of her when she badly needed someone to cry on. Albeit his an arrogant beast.
Huminga siya ng malalim and optimistically started working, “I owe that guy big time!”

“Thank you for finishing these reports so soon Trisha. You’re a God sent to make my life easier,” turan ng Senior Accountant nila na si Mrs. Lauricio nang ibigay niya ang reports dito.
“Wait!” pigil nito nang akto na siyang aalis. “LUCIANlympics is on the weekend and the Red Lions’ Volleyball Team is counting on you.”
“Ma’am, our Volleyball Team has excellent players, surely we will be number one again,” she humbly replied.
“Yup, we have a lot of players whose abilities are amazing but your positivity and sportsmanship hold the players together plus you’re one of our best. You always cheer them up so keep it up dear,” ngumiti ito with a motherly love. It seemed like even Mrs. Lauricio detected the troubles and pains she’s enduring right now.
LUCIANlympics ang yearly gathering ng mga employees in all branches of the LUCIAN Group of Companies nationwide in celebration of their Foundation Anniverary. It was sub-divided into six clusters because of its locations. The Cluster 1 where the main office and all branches within central Luzon belong will be held at Manila Grand Recreational Center on the weekend and everyone is looking forward to it.
Si Trisha ang captain ng Red Lion’s Volleyball Team. Sila ang champion last year kaya kailangan nilang panatilihin ang kampeonato. She wanted to be cheerfull and be excited about the Sportfest but it seemed so hard to do. Gotta put my head on the game and shove my heart into my pocket! Trisha keeps on reminding herself.

Wearing her team’s red T-shirt with a Lion print, nakatayo si Trisha in front of the stage together with her teammates and the other three competing teams. There are atleast 50 employees in one team. Everyone’s wearing an excited smile in their faces but Trisha annoyingly felt like she had eaten dozens of butterflies that keep on flying inside her stomach. She keeps on remembering her encounter with Drake a while ago outside the Center before the program starts.
On the way to the entrance when she arrived, nakita niya si Drake na papalabas din ng Center talking to someone in the phone. Pareho silang natigilan, mabuti na lamang at maaga pa at maliit pa ang tao na nasa labas.
“I’ll call you back,” ibinaba ni Drake ang phone at itinuon ang atensyon sa kanya.
“Can we talk?” Lumapit ito sa kanya.
Trisha can’t look at him in the eyes so she kept on looking beyond Drake. “Ano pa bang dapat nating pag-usapan?”
Aalis na sana siya nang hawakan nito ang kanyang braso to stop her. When she looked back and met his pleading eyes, she almost lost it. She still wanted to see him, talk to him despite what happened.
“Let’s talk.” Hinila siya nito papunta sa likuran ng Center where a lot of trees scattered and could gave them privacy.
Trisha didn’t know if someone noticed them, she can’t even see the people around, just focusing on what she’s feeling right now.
His face contoured into anger.
“That guy you kissed, he’s just a random guy right?”
Natigilan siya sa sinabi nito. Will she be honest and admit it or continue the lie to spite him?
“Kilala kita, you’re not that kind of woman and I love you for that.” With pleading eyes and hope in his voice, mas dumiin ang mga kamay nitong nakawak sa mga balikat niya.
“Stop it! You betrayed me Drake and I so desperately wanted you to feel the same. So yeah, I acted on impulse and kissed him, pretended that you’ve been cheated too.” Trisha hated admitting it but she’s not good at lying. She’s too honest for her own good.
Drake smirked and his face lightened like he was relieved at aktong yayakapin sana siya nang itulak niya ito and distanced herself. She hated the arrogance in his face as if he haven’t done anything wrong. With finality in her voice she composed herself. “It’s over Drake. This is the end of us, go back to your lover and don’t you dare act again like you’re the one being cheated,” at tuluyan ng umalis si Trisha finally having the closure she deserves.
Maybe the friendship they’ve created was still there and deep inside Trisha wanted to preserve it no matter who made mistakes.
As the hours stretched on Trisha realized she was enjoying the sportfest for real. She’d forgotten the pain for the moment and focused on winning the game and contributing to the best of her abilities for them to be victorious again.
She admitted na mainitin din ang ulo ng ex-boyfriend kapag pressure sa laro and tended to show his superiority sometimes, one reason why she did everything just to avoid getting him angry. Awarding and acquaintance will be on Friday Night. It is the most awaited event where everyone is given the previledge to enjoy socialization, with wines, beers and everything that a five star hotel can offer. One way of the company to ensure loyalty and commitment from their employees is to give them the feeling of importance. Lucian Group of Companies believe that…what you give, is what you get.
“Kainis naman oh!” with pouty lips the girl was annoyed nang h
Marsden was busy reading through the reports for the new expansion in Mindanao when his bestfriend and company lawyer entered his office. Kakabalik lang nito from Davao. Napangiti siya when he saw his annoyed face. “You should get over it man.” “Erase that smile bro, I haven’t forgiven you yet.” “Come on Max, it’s been a week since I got home and let me reminds you you’re out of town if you forgot.” “You should have called me or even just a text from you would suffice. Learning from someone that your bestfriend finally came back without even telling you hurts bro.” Para itong batang nagmamaktol but he can’t blame him, afterall he is like a brother he never had. Every year Max would tell Marsden to visit the Philippines even for just a while so they could party together and be wasted together just like the old days but he always reasoned that their branch in New
“Trish?” Biglang napalingon si Trisha sa kanyang likuran and something within her changed, like her heart was being wrung out and her tears were pooling at the corner threatening to fall. Nakatanga lamang siya habang nakatingin dito. His saying something but she doesn’t care. Looking at the man who have helped her twice already made her realized how she desperately needed comfort right now. She remembered to glanced at her back and thankfully no trace of Jade. “Hey!” protesta ni Marsden when she suddenly grabbed his hand and hurriedly looked for some place to hide before Jade could see them. Thankfully may nakita siyang pintuan at the corner situated just outside the hall where the girl she bumped into came from.
Surprisingly, she felt calm and safe with him and at the moment she doesn’t want it to end. Kinuha niya ang kanyang cellphone at muntik nanaman siyang maiyak nang makita ang 20 misscalls from different numbers, marami rin notifications for text messages, nakasilent ito at ngayon niya lang naalalang echeck. Trisha closed her eyes, so her friends must have seen the photo even Chloe. “Trish, Oh my God! Finally, sinagot mo rin…Nasa’n ka ba? We’re so worried, akala namin nasa Ladies’ Room ka lang nang puntahan ka ni Abby but you’re not there. Where are you? Okay ka lang ba? Kung tungkol do’n sa kumakalat sa social media, huwag kang mag-al
Dinala siya ni Marsden sa isang up hill park. Heaven’s View Park ang nakalagay sa sign nang masilayan niya ito at the park’s entrance. Gabi na kaya wala ng tao pero madaming pathway lights illuminating the whole place and Trisha liked the place already. At the center there’s a playground with slides, seesaws and swings. Trisha glanced at Marsden observing his manly built stealthily. The skinny boy was no longer there but he is still tall as she remembered at the storeroom. Trisha just reaches his chin with her 5”4’ height. “We’re here,” lumabas na ito and opened the passenger door to help her out. Nag ala-gentleman in a date ito offe
Tanghali na nang bumangon si Trisha and lazily went to the kitchen to prepare something to eat. Ginising siya ng kumakalam niyang sikmura. She was yawning when the front door opened and revealed her bestfriend. “Chlo!” sabay takbo ni Trisha and affectionately hugged her bestfriend. Minutes passed, Trisha was still clinging to her. “I’m so glad you’re here,” prolonging the so. “So how are you?” Chloe asked as she pulled Trisha towards the sofa. “I’m fine,” hinawakan niya ang mga kamay nito. “Really, I am,” pangungumbinsi niya dito nang mapakunot-noo ang kaibigan. She really did feel fine. Remembering Marsden’s help last night, she told her friend everything that happened. “That Jade I would really skin her alive, bruha talaga. Friends with the same feathers really flucks together,” galit na galit na turan ni
When she got home from the market, agad siyang naligo at nagsimula ng magluto. She already baked a chocolate cake last night and also marinated the chicken in her special sauce. She wanted to make it special that’s why she searched the internet for additional tips. After two hours, she was almost done and just preparing the salad dressing when a knock came at the door. She took her apron but remembering how she looked, agad niyang inayos ang kanyang loose ponytail. When she opened the door, she was stunned for a moment. May artista ata sa bahay ko! Kinurap niya ang mga mata. “Hey!” she said smiling at Marsden. “Hi!”
Trisha and Drake were both putting their relationship behind. Once in a while nagpapadala ito ng chocolates from Pixies which her friends really love to eat. Ngayon nga may delivery nanaman siya from Pixies, one dozen of mini chocolate cupcakes na may chocolate frosting on top. “Oh my God Trisha, huwag mo munang sagutin si Marsden para may rasyon pa rin tayo from Pixies,” saad ni Abby na sarap na sarap ang kain. Nakaupo ito sa kanyang cubicle habang busy siya sa pagphotocopy ng kany
After a while, she raised her head, blew her nose with her handkerchief and looked at him. He wiped a drop of tear upon her lip. “What happened?”“It’s because of me…it’s my fault, I killed an innocent child Mars.”“What are you talking about?”She retold Chelsea’s accusations and it angered him.“Nothing happened that night, I just let him kiss me to show him I don’t feel anything anymore, to have a closure, for him to leave me alone.”“Hey, hey, listen to me,” gently palming her cheeks with both hands. “It’s not your fault, it was an accident.”“I know, yet I’m so afraid…what if karma befell me. I know I shouldn’t because God won’t be that cruel pero kasalanan pa rin ‘yun. She lost her child because of me, because I let Ash kissed me that night. I have the choice to stop it but I didn’t–““And what are you afraid of? That someday it will also happen to you?” Napansin niyang natigilan ito. “We all have our sins Trish and what you think you’ve done is not even your fault at all.
It’s been a week since Trisha heard Chelsea’s reason for hating her and no matter how much she tried to be optimistic and stop herself from feeling guilty, she can’t. Because she was there, and Ash did kissed her and she let him, to show him that she’s not affected anymore, there’s no spark, that things have changed for months of being apart after she transferred to a public school. And also to close their relationship properly, to say goodbye, so Ash would stop those childish acts that forced her to come to him. Chloe was in Davao with her boss and Marsden was in Bacolod to close a big deal. She missed him so badly especially now that she’s feeling down. They talked over the phone yet being together physically is different. She can’t eat properly, she can’t even sleep for fearing of the nightmare that came to her that night after she and Chelsea talked. She woke up crying, feeling the pain of losing someone, her heart cried and ache for someone. Her baby, her own baby. Most
Weeks passed and Marsden and Trisha enjoyed every moment spent with each other. They read books together, do joggings together at the park Marsden usually do joggings. Marsden stayed with her in her apartment, together they went to the office and when Marsden needed to extend his time at work, he always asked Gareth, one of his trusted employees to drive her home using Marsden’s car.Trisha knew her friends noticed the change in their relationship but she always denies it. They both agreed to keep it secret and asked Chloe and Rudy to do the same. In the eyes of the others who knew them both they were just friends. Everyday, waking up with Marsden was like livin
When Trisha woke up the next morning, she felt like someone who had finally woken up from sleeping for years. She just lay there and closed her eyes again to thanks God for this another day. Last night she thought it would be her last or if not, Arnel would definitely left her devastated and surely ruined. She wanted to cry again, not of fear this time but thankful and relieved to have her guardian angels. “Marsden,” she whispered as his face appeared on her consciousness. She can’t stop the blush traveling over her face as she remembered something else that happened last night. Naitakip niya ang mga palad sa mukha as the events played before her eyes. Feeling giddy for the words he’d uttered and guilty, definitely guilty for sleeping on him. When finally she decided to clean up and went down to the kitchen, her stomach growled with the delicious smell coming from there. Trisha thought him gone but she heard his voice singing along with the music on his phone. Nakita niyang b
Jade was calling Arnel for the hundredth time but it’s always out of coverage. She was anxious to know what happened and even excited to hear her enemy’s downfall. A sly grin slowly appeared over her face. Finally, if Trisha get devastated and change her positivity, Jade’s beloved Ash wouldn’t like the bitch anymore, and she will have him for good. Finally! Finally! But the bastard Arnel can’t be reached and it’s disturbing her nerves. She was about to leave and go to the bar where Arnel wasn’t banned when someone knocked on her bedroom door repeatedly. Her dad is in congress and her mom visited her friends. Who could it be? “I’m coming, I’m coming,” aniyang naiinis at padabog na binuksan ang pinto. “A-Ash!” Jade was a little bit shocked to see him and a sudden burst of anxiety dwells in her rapidly beating heart. What if Ash realized what she’d done? But he looked calm, maybe he is here to ask her out. She pasted her sweetest smile. “Hey, come in.” She led him to her sof
“We should terminate the contract to avoid being caught up with his illegal deeds,” Marsden said in anger. “But sir–“ “Your department is the one whose responsibility is to check the credibility of the people we get into contract with. How come, that this problem is here now taunting our patience.” He looked at their eyes one by one. “Don’t make me caught you receiving commissions from our clientele just for their papers to pass the screening.” They just looked down and received his scolding. This is a serious matter. These men are in the company even when his grandfather was still the chairman. He trusted their loyalties but someone is surely having his loyalty bought. “Sir!” bulong ni Hans sa kanya. “Nasa office mo si Trisha at Drew.” Napangiti siya nang marinig ang pangalan ni Trisha pero nagulat siya ng marinig na kasama nito si Drew. Worriedly, he excused himself at pumunta sa kanyang opisina. He saw Drew outside of his office. He was angry and worried while Drew re
“Mag-oovertime ako ngayon, I have a deadline which I think, is impossible to meet.” “I already explained it to her, pero hindi siya nakikinig and after the meeting she just left. To start, Chelsea was having an indefinite leave. Unfortunately, as Chelsea is leaving, the staff are required to finish monthly reports this week and other necesarry reports for their new boss. Trisha handles four large branches and it’s defin
“God! She’s killing me!” Marsden whispered to himself when he got inside his car. It’s getting harder to control himself around her. He wanted to give in, he wanted to feel her, embraced her, wrapped himself with her heat. But his mind, the one who keeps on reminding him of his promise not to let his heart rule again over his head, waking him like a drench of cold water. He snorted with the thought that she wanted to learn flirting. She’s already a killer and he’s not sure if he can survive the next time. He tried to keep it cool, everytime this crazy attraction pulls him like a magnet and every day gets harder and harder to resist. Tomorrow, he should tell Trisha to stop what she feels because he doesn’t feel the same, such a big lie. He should stop this and if being far from her is the only solution then he had no other choice. ‘*** “Teka, ang aga pa ata nangangapitbahay ka na?” aniya
Days passed and Trisha and Marsden renewed their friendship. Eating together at breakfast and sometimes at dinner. But one thing that change is that he never sleepover anymore. Even when the rain never stop pouring, he always had reasons to go. Sometimes it makes Trisha laugh to think he was afraid that she would lose into temptation and ravish him at night. But then, reality also makes her sad that even though their friendship was returned, he was still careful and maybe just trying to spare her feelings…he might not have directly told her to stop but she felt how much he avoided her failed flirtations. It was not easy really, because Trisha don’t know how to flirt. With her previous relationships, she wasn’t actually into flirting, was not motivated or doesn’t have the chance or maybe theirs were different with how she felt with Marsden. However, she is quiet enjoying it. Everytime he looked at her in a way that to
