Chapter 5

Damaria

"Today, we resume the games! for the starting match, we have the Legend herself, our undefeated Queen! Our Greatest Mage with an astounding amount of mana since her birth! Damaria Beatrice Revoltoir!" The so-called announcer said I went out to the arena and I looked towards Father and of course, he looks cold and distant as usual. I went to the middle of the Arena to wait for my opponent.

"Next, for her opponent, the 14th daughter of the family! The daughter of Davina the 8th wife of our great lord! Emily Alrosa Revoltoir!" the guy announced, I saw a little scoff on his face that annoyed the hell out of me. I made a huge chunk of ice and I launched the Ice making sure that it will hit his legs.

"You're starting to annoy me, even if she is the daughter of the notorious 8th wife, she is still a noble and you are just a commoner, so what gave you the right to have that attitude towards her?" I asked as I exude my aura looking him straight in the eye, he is holding his left leg because that's where the ice went. Cold sweat running down his face.

"M-my apologies miss," he said. Then Emily went out to the arena holding her sword. I looked at Emily and I used my telepathy to connect with her.

"Are you sure about your plan Emily? Is that what you truly want? What about your lover?" I asked while clenching my fist. That's right, among Davina's children, Emily is the only one we ever liked. She has a special skill with agriculture, she has a green thumb as you call it. Emily smiled sadly as she nodded. 

"Let the match begin!" Said the man.

Emily charged at me with her sword running straight, I evaded the attack and I stabbed her heart. I at least would like to kill her without any pain I thought as I stabbed my sword deep enough so she would die instantly.

"Thank you..." she whispered and she fell on the floor. And with that, our match ended with my flawless victory. I went towards father and I knelt in front of him. 

"Your Grace, please allow me to properly bury Emily's body. Please just allow that and I shall work harder for the duchy" I said. The Grand Duke looked at me for a few minutes before talking.

"I shall allow it. You can do whatever you want with the body" he said. I stood up and I bowed before leaving the arena and going to our private waiting area. I looked at Allein and Louissa who doesn't have any expression on their faces. 

Because of my quick victory, two more matches were held before they called it a day. After that, I went back to my room to change my clothes. I am currently wearing a simple gray gown with long sleeves, then I tied half of my hair in a bun and I used a Lavander hairpin to decorate my hair then I went outside.

"Halt! who goes there?" asked the guards. But when they saw that it was me, Allein, and Louissa they opened the gates of the Manor and we went out. That's right if you are considered as an asset, then going in and out of the manor is easy.

We went towards the village and then we stopped at a certain house. If you're guessing who it was then you're probably right. This is the house of her lover, well they often wrote letters at first, then I would Emily sneak out to meet him.

I knocked on the door and a man answered it. He looks confused at first, but when he finally figured out who I am, he held my shoulder as he looked at me desperately.

"My lady! E-Emily, where is she? she is fine, right? she won her match didn't she?" he asked as his grip on my shoulder tightened every question, it didn't hurt though. I touched his hand that was holding my shoulder.

"We should go inside first right? It'll be a disturbance here outside if we talk here" I said as I turned towards the busy street. He opened the door and we all went inside. 

"Please listen carefully to what I have to say," I said. He looked at me calmly and then I opened a portal to a dimension where I kept Emily's body there. I took it out and I handed it to him.

"Emily, wasn't able to survive the match, her opponent is a strong one and she died instantly," I said. He fell on his knees and he hugged Emily's body as if that is the only possession he has. 

"Oh, Emily, my Emily what has happened to you," he said as he cried while hugging Emily. I looked at him as he cries.

"My Apologies, I should've stopped her from going," I said as I lowered my head at him. His mouth widens because of what I did but then he looked at Emily and he caressed her face as tears started pouring from his face once more.

"Please, raise your head. I-I'm sure knowing her personality, I'm sure Emily also wanted this" He said. He carefully laid Emily's body on the floor as he stood up then he lowered his head towards me.

"Please, let me at least keep Emily's body, I would like to bury her here in my land so I can be with her after her death," he said. He even kneeled as he lowered his head enough for it to touch the floor.

"You'll really go that far for my sister?" I asked as I stare at him. This time he is not crying nor does he have any expression on his face even. He's just there, kneeling and begging for me to at least give him her body.

"Of course, Emily is someone who is irreplaceable to me, she already took my heart with her to her death, after all, even doing this much is probably not enough for all of the sufferings that she's gone through," He said. I closed my eyes as I smile for relief. I touched his shoulders gently.

"I brought her body here so I can give it to you. Also here, this is her last letter for you" I said as I gave her Emily's letter. He held it dear to his heart and then he went to Emily's body to hug her one last time.

The three of us started heading for the door. But we were stopped when he asked us a question.

"You're leaving? Why won't you stay until I bury her?" He asked. I turned to him as I smiled bitterly.

"Someone like doesn't have any right to attend her funeral. I don't have the qualifications" I said. I was about to leave when someone held my hands and when I turned around, it was him.

"Please, do not say that, I know that it was you who Emily fought. I know that Emily planned for all of this to happen. So do not blame yourself any longer" He said. Then he let go of my hand. I nodded before turning around towards the door and we left. To give him some space.

Flashback

"Eldest sister, do you have some time?" Emily asked as she sat beside me on the training grounds. I wiped my sweat with my towel and I sat beside her.

"Of course, do you want to say something?" I asked her. I was thinking that she would ask me for help so she can escape this place and be with him.

But I was wrong...

"Dear sister, please give this letter to Julian after I die," she said as she handed me a letter. I looked at the letter for a little while before returning to her with a serious face. 

"What? Why do you want to die instead Emily? I can help you escape this house so you and Julian can live together! You don't have to die like this" I said as I held her hands. Emily and I might not be super close but she is still my sister.

"I would go to him and what? Let him die with me? Sister, I can't do that, my heart won't be able to take it. I don't want to take his future away from him. I would rather die alone than die with him" she said as she gave me her letter. She looked down as she was enduring not to cry in front of me.

"Do you not want to be with Julian anymore?" I asked with a serious face. Emily quickly shook her head and she looked at me with tears forming in her eyes.

"No, of course not. It's been my lifelong dream to be with him and you know it, sister, I've always dreamed of living peacefully in a quiet land with him and our children" She said while smiling bitterly. She then looked at me.

"But it seems that I won't be able to do that in this life," she said. I held her trembling hands, I sighed then I took the letter from her hands. 

"Alright, I shall do what you wish, but if you change your mind, then call for me and I shall take you to Julian," I said. She smiled and she shook her head.

"I won't ever change my mind sister. Thank you for granting my last wish" She said then she left. I went back to my room and I placed the letter in my drawer so it will be safe.

End of flashback

I gave it to him, Emily. I sincerely pray and hope that you're in a safe place now I thought as we walked back to the estate.
