Chapter 67

“Did you really summon me to talk about marriage?” Richard asked an elderly man who had his eyebrows raised and his mood calm.

Richard scoffed again, glaring at the man and back at Barbara, who was mute and sort of uninterested.

“Listen Richard, marriage is a beautiful and yet, strange place to be. You would experience several hurdles on the way, but it is left for you to shove it aside or allow it swallow you”, the man said, adjusting his glasses that seemed to be falling off his eyes.

Richard gulped down hard again and shot a dead glare at Barbara.

This was not the first time he attended such a meeting with the old man. As a matter of fact, he knew that the man did not summon him on his accord, rather on the request of someone.

“Barbara, did you tell him to call us?”

Richard was glaring at her furiously, with his eyes burning in wild rage.

“You wouldn’t tell me why you suddenly decided to go on a trip and with the maid”, Barbara whispered, without an iota of guilt.
