CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED THIRTY-NINE - THE KINGSTONS AND THE BURKES

Cassy POV

I hang my head in shame.

It was not my intention to purposely keep them in the dark. It was just that things had been so hectic for a while that I had forgotten.

“Have you seen the magazine cover?”

That is the only explanation for why my parents found out. It filled me with regret that I had forgotten to tell them.

“Yes.”

Tensed silence descended upon us.

I bit my lip, not knowing what to say. My parents let me stew for a while before handing their verdict.

“We are coming over. We wanted to talk to your husband.”

Mom said after a while, putting me out of my misery.

Her words raised me in panic.

“Mom, Dad. Don’t blame Caleb, okay? This is my fault.”

My mother snorted.

“Even your brother kept things from us. Some children you are. You try to cover up for each other. Even when you are old and gray, we still want to be updated with your life. We never asked for anything, just that.”

“Sorry.”

Again, that word filled me with shame. How could I have been thoughtless?
