Tony POV
After the two orderlies transferred Tory to her suite, I thanked them and closed the door.
I sat beside Tory on her bed, careful not to press on her but very much wanting the nearness to assuage the need in my heart.
I held her hand – the one without the IV drip - enclosed it with both of mine and watched the pallor on her face. It has not receded until now.
Her eyes were puffy from too much crying.
“Ung…” She whimpered, and I quickly patted her hand to offer comfort.
Fear still engulfs my heart until now. There was a
Tony POVTory slapped my hand away after she delivered those words that rocked my world. She said it with so much finality that it left me in despair.I never claimed to be a good person. I had my heart broken in the past and broke hearts in the process, including the heart of this woman before me. But I never felt so much desperation and regret as I feel now.“Tory…” In a fit of desolation, the only thing I did was call her name softly.I closed my eyes, trying to control my raging heart. Fear has overtaken my senses, but I cannot force Tory. I can only make her see my point.
Cassy POV“Adam, where have you been? I have been trying to call you, but your phone’s off.”“Sorry, something came up.”There was an odd inflection in his tone that made me nervous.“Did something happen? Tory? Where is she?”Adam sighed. “I think I overdid it. Tory is in the hospital. She might lose the baby.” I heard him groan and felt scared.Adam was never like this. He was my bulwark, my strength. But now, I could feel like he was feeling lost.
Cassy POV“Adam, you know you can't. You do not love each other. Marrying Tory would only create a bigger mess.”“But I want to take care of Tory.” His insistence was admirable, especially when he juts his chin like Joachim.“Do you love her?”Adam was silent. He sighed, and I understood the turmoil churning inside him.“You know I don't believe in love. Not anymore. I don't trust any woman either, except Mom, you and Tory.”I bit my lip at the bitterness in my brother's voice. I knew how he had been hurt in the past, and
Adam POVI watched the twins as they ran to their parents and smiled. I was about to follow them, but then my phone rang.“Jared. Sorry for not taking your calls earlier.”“Sir, I sent you a document.”“What about?”“Former Mrs. Kingston, mother of Mr. Caleb Kingston, went online and debunked Mr. Caleb’s claims about his family. She said that the only daughter-in-law the Kingstons recognized was Amanda Hayes.”I was silent for a while.“How’s it going? Was it bedlam on the internet?”“No, sir.Mr. Caleb imposed the necessary measures. I just wanted you to know in case.”I nodded. “Good job, Jared. Thanks.”When I ended the call, I watched my sister and her husband interact with each other and their children. I saw that they were taking the recent complication calmly and realized that their relationship was now on solid ground. It was all because Caleb tried his best to win her back. He let Cassy heal and then came back to win her over.“Daddy! I see Grandpa and Grandma!” I hear
Adam POVWhen I first spotted her, suspicion was foremost in my mind. Amanda's appearance at the airport has something to do with Caleb. I am sure of it.She must have wound up on the news that Caleb was here.If she aims to make another problem for my sister and her husband, then she had better think about aborting her plans because I won't let her.I will not let Amanda Hayes break my sister’s newfound happiness. It was also then that I dropped any intention of marrying Tory.Cassy is right.Let Tony and Tory settle their differences within them. I would only muddle the situation if I came right between them.
Adam POVWithin seconds, Amanda was lying on the bed while I hovered over her. Our hot breaths mingle. My hand lifted and clutched the neckline of my shirt from the back, hurriedly pulling it off me, wanting skin-to-skin contact.Amanda must have felt the same. She was pulling at the buttons of her dress when my hands replaced hers.“Don’t.”Confusion swirled in her green eyes when she looked at me.And I was quick to explain. “Never undress for a man. Make a man undress you.”Color filled her cheeks, eliciting a satisfied smile from me.Slowly, I tackled one button after another. My eyes widened every time I uncovered her skin until her pink brassiere peeked out from my view. It barely covered her twin globes and I stared at the swell of her bre*sts remembering the last time I saw her like this – bared for my satisfaction.Without conscious thought, my hand lifted as I let the tips of my fingers roam over her nude alabaster skin.Heaven!I took a heavy sigh, trying to rein in my em
Adam POVWe ended the call. Oakley said goodbye and made smooching sounds. I laughed despite the predicament I was in, ignoring my blue b*lls. If my friends were to get wind of this, they would be laughing their heads off.I was so near, but then Oakley’s bad timing for a call c*ck blocked me.I walked back to the bed, conscious of Amanda's stare. She was studying my body. I stood proud, noting the admiration in her eyes.I propped my knees on the bed and crawled to her.“I guess this is it, huh?” She asked, biting her lip.“Sorry, I have to leave,” I told her regretfully, but she was one step ahead.
Tony POVStay. That was what Adam said, but how can I when Tory kept pushing me away? One big word, but why is it so hard?“Is the water too hot?” I asked after Tory took a sip from the glass of warm water I got from her.She shook her head but did not say anything more. She was just looking into space. I have wanted to be inside her brain to know what she was thinking. She cupped the mug with both hands and subconsciously ran her thumb over the side. Finally, she looked up to me.“Why are you still here?”I shrugged my shoulders.“You are here.” I pointed out, hoping to get a reaction from her, but she did not respond. She stared long into the mug like she was investigating its contents. Then, she lifted her head to look back at me.“You have patients to attend to. Why stay here with me? You are busy. Get busy and do your thing.” She was trying to shoo me away, but I held my ground.I promised I would stay, and I will. Even though Tory pushes me every time.“I already applied for

Cassy POVCaleb spun me around in excitement, and I squealed in delight. When the children noticed what we were doing, they abandoned the toys scattered in the playpen to run toward us. “What’s happening?” Oakley asked. From the background, I could hear my mom tell her. “You and Joachim will have a baby brother or a sister soon.” “Oh!” Oakley sounded surprised.By this time, Caleb had already put me down, and I was watching the enraptured emotion on my little girl’s face. A grin worked its way to her face, making her more beautiful in my eyes. She took her brother’s hand excitedly. “We are going to have a baby! Yay! I am going to be a big sister!” Oakley and Joachim jumped at the news. They were clapping, and so were everyone around us. Even Rosalie Kingston Pierre looked at us with a wistful smile. Greg and James, Caleb’s friends, proposed a toast.“Congratulations on the baby!” They both shouted and tapped their glasses with spoons. It created tinkling sounds that gave off
Cassy POVDuring the party, I could feel that something was bothering Caleb. It's not that I was suspecting him of anything. It was more like I was just puzzled at the antsy behavior. From time to time, he would leave me to talk on the phone, and my lips formed a straight line in displeasure. I am sure it was business, but can’t he postpone business for a while to enjoy the children’s party?“You look lonely, babe. Where is your husband?” Reynold approached me when he noticed I was standing alone in the corner, watching the event while my husband was out of sight. Caleb just stepped out of the room, purportedly to answer Gordon’s call, and it is honestly pi*sing me off. I shrugged my shoulders and looked murderous. The day began magnificently. Caleb and I rose before dawn and tiptoed our way to the twins' bedroom to spruce it up with birthday decor. We wanted to surprise the twins, and we did!The smile on their faces was priceless. Caleb and I could not contain our tears whe
Caleb POVWe started milling around, stopping by some tables to talk to some parents. From the happiness wreathed on the children’s faces, I could see that everyone was having a good time. My two best friends arrived, and I immediately snaked an arm around Cassy’s waist when I noticed Greg smiling at her. I still hadn’t forgotten what he told me before - that he had a crush on my wife. Cassy was surprised but did not remove my arms around her waist while we talked to my best friends. This alone made me shoot Greg a gloating look. If I didn’t need them for my proposal later, I wouldn’t have invited them, especially Greg, but they are the only people I could rely on.A crowd gathered around us, and my two best friends entertained them, allowing Cassy and I to extricate ourselves from the circle to welcome Adam and Cassy’s friends as they trickled in one by one. Martin Crest, Cole Higgs, and John Collins came in one after the other, bearing boxes of gifts for the twins. When Joach
Caleb POVWarmth filled my heart as I listened to Oakley divulge their wish for everyone to hear.My chest felt stuffy when I learned that their wish was me.Even though they did not know me or had no idea about me, my kids longed for me like I longed for them the past years.“I am happy, too,” I responded before grabbing them to kiss the top of their heads.Oakley climbed into my lap. Her little hand started caressing my face.“Thank you, Daddy! I love you!” Oakley declared. My shoulders started to shake. I don’t know what I did before to deserve these children, but I was so happy.“I love you, too, Oakley. You, Mommy and Joachim, are Daddy’s treasures.” I admitted and realized that my voice sounded guttural, even to my ears.I looked at Cassy and saw her smiling through her tears.I don’t think I will ever
Cassy POVDays passed by quickly, and before we knew it, it was already the kids' birthday.“Shhh!”Caleb said when I giggled because, for the first time, it was us barging in on them, not the other way around. The kids were still sleeping soundly.Oakley slept with her arms spread wide. She had kicked off her blanket to the foot of her bed.On the other bed, Joachim slept on his side, facing the wall.“I could not believe they were four years old.” I gushed.Caleb walked to the bed holding the cake we ordered at Felicity&rsq
Cassy POVUnfortunately, thechildren’splan to spend the weekend with their grandparents did not materialize because Mom and Dad told me they were leaving the next day.“Why? Thekids’birthday is only days away?”I could not hide the disappointment in my voice. The children look forward to having the family on their big day. They
Cassy POVI watched my parents, and the happiness radiating on their faces was enough to put a smile on my face.“Now, we can eat,” Oakley interjected. Her declaration broke my embracing parents apart.“Sorry, my little darling!” Mom said awkwardly, chucking Oakley on the chin.Oakley giggled and ran to the dinner table with Joachim in tow.The elder Burkes followed them and helped them with their seats while Caleb and I looked on with smiles painted on our faces. Then, I nudged him. “Tell me, how did Dad manage to order the flower arrangement this fast?&rd
Cassy POVThe children giggled, but they didn’t protest. They wallowed in the attention Mom gave them.“Come on, grandma, let’s eat,” Oakley said after a while. She scooted to the edge of the bed, her feet dangling.Dad took her little hands to hold her while she slid down the bed and her feet connected to the floor.“Wax, let’s go!” Oakley turned around and beckoned for her brother to do the same.Joachim followed Oakley. Dad helped him, too. They both ran to the door, trying to open it. They both jumped, hands touching the knob, but since they were not tall enough, they could not turn the knob open.
