Chapter 006

Dane:

"Who the hell is in charge here?!" Maggie yelled right after slapping Savannah and the latter just stood there, face in her palm as she rubbed it soothingly.

"Who is the boss around here, you fools!" She yelled again and I kept silent, curious to know where her blind boldness would take her to. I wanted to see where that smart mouth of hers would lead her to, while I mock her for it respectfully.

"I am, ma'am" another woman strolled in. I didn't miss the disappointed look the lady had in her face when she saw Maggie and I.

I frowned, wondering what the disappointed gaze meant. The woman was probably in the same age range as Maggie and Savannah. She looked young and classy even with the glasses she had on.

"Is this how you train your staff around here?" Maggie questioned, glaring at the woman wide enough to have her eyeballs pop out.

"I'm sorry, be careful ma'am. Your eyes might actually pop out. We only cook eyeballs here not actually treat a fallen one" the lady responded as she adjusted her glasses. Her face held no expression and it was hard to tell if that was mockery or just concern. Either way, it sounded so insulting.

"Was that supposed to be an insult? It looks like all of you here were trained very badly! And what? Ma'am? Like I'm some granny?" Maggie chipped in and the lady licked her lips.

"She probably didn't mean that as an insult, ‘ma'am’ but it's okay if you see it that way. Besides, only older people tend to get terrible mood swings like this, it's no different to refer to you as one now" Savannah added, stressing the word ma'am and Maggie raised her hand to slap her again.

I raised my hands to stop her but the lady who claims to be the one in charge beat me to it and stood in front of Savannah, taking the slap to her own face.

Was she dumb? Why would she get slapped for someone who works under her?!!

Everyone watching the scene gasped and Maggie scoffed. "I want her punished for being rude to me and I want her punishment issued right away while I watch" she dictated and the two women exchanged a certain look I couldn't pinpoint.

There was something about them that seemed fishy…

"I will definitely punish her, Miss Linderson. I will see to it that she is punished myself, so please let the case go now" the woman said and Maggie sprang up on her feet again.

"I want her fired, little miss lowlife. You had better announce her loss of job before I make things harder for you and the other workers" Maggie pinpoints and the woman stood defiantly while Savannah just had a plain look as she stared at Maggie then at me, a mocking smirk settling at the corner of her lips.

"Well then, Miss Linderson, would you mind doing her job here after I fire her?" The lady suddenly responded, her voice cold and at the same time polite.

The way she talks irks the hell out of me...

"How dare you disrespect me? Are you even the boss here? Looking like an unripe tomato!" Maggie retorted and the lady bowed again.

"It was just a harmless question, Miss Linderson. As I've said, I will see to it that Savannah is punished for disrespecting you, so you don't have to worry or inflict punishments on your own. I. am. in. charge. here!" the lady responded and I placed my hand on Maggie's shoulder when she took a threatening step forward.

"It's fine..."

"Brittania" the lady completed and I nodded in affirmation.

"It's alright as long as she will be punished. I'll trust you on that, Brittania" I told her while I pressed my fingers into Maggie's shoulders gently to keep her still.

"But Dane..." Maggie whined in protest and I tucked a strand of her hair behind her ears delicately before bending to whisper in her ear.

"That's enough, Maggie. There are lots of eyes watching us right now. This is a five-star restaurant. This would get us into more trouble than fighting workers from a random restaurant" I whispered into her ears and dismissed the two women in front of us.

I didn't miss the smirk on Savvy's face as she walked away. She really is fearless now, isn't she? I just have to find out who it is that she's messing around with and face-slap the dude with our marriage certificate! because the Savvy I knew back then would be begging on her knees and pleading desperately to not be punished at all, but here she was completely expressionless and unaffected by the fact that she has committed a crime of being rude to a high society person and is about to lose her job.

"You had better punish her thoroughly, because I wouldn't tolerate this sort of nonsense the next time I come here" Maggie scoffed before storming out of the restaurant.

I sent one last look at Savannah who also met my gaze briefly before turning away, as if repulsed by having me in her sight.

Of course, I do not blame her for being spiteful that I refused to give her any attention back then but I hated her just as much because that doesn't give anyone a reason to murder a child. An unborn child! Not just any child but mine. My bloodline. The Walker's bloodline.

She has to pay for it and I will make her do so, very dearly...

She should be grateful to have only me after her and not my entire family because my mother would not stand a murderer to stay alive. She would never stand to watch the murderer of her grandson staying alive on her watch even if it was Savannah.

Mother would be disappointed to think she was a good judge of character but Savannah had her fooled so easily. She hated being deceived and as much as she liked Savannah, she would make sure she spent her entire life rotting away in jail.

I could get rid of Savannah that easily but she wasn't someone you could let go easily as a sane man and even as a boss of a fashion company.

Savannah is a beautiful woman. Not just beautiful but also talented and intelligent. She had all it takes to wrap a man around her fingers but she was too naive and guilty to do so around me.

She owed me and I planned to exploit her in more painful ways until she had no one else as her shield except me. Besides, the losses we had in the last few years started only when I got a new secretary and advisor.
