Chapter 007

Dane:

The drive with Maggie back home wasn't the least bit peaceful. She was endlessly murmuring and throwing tantrums. One would think I had her kidnapped and hauled into my fucking car.

“You should see the looks on the driver's face and reconsider your endless tantrums, Maggie. You've embarrassed yourself enough for today” I told her, but it came out a little more mocking than I intended.

Instead of venting on me, she turned to the driver.

“What the hell are you looking at, you moron? How dare you mock me?” She demanded and I couldn't help but roll my eyes inwardly.

“I - I'm really sorry, miss” James stuttered and at the same time tried to focus on the road.

“Why does it feel like you were excited to see that lowly bitch again, Dane?” Maggie suddenly asked and I frowned.

“I wouldn't call it excitement, Maggie. I was only surprised to see her and I was only relieved that my revenge against her would be as easy as pouring a cup of water from a water dispenser. She's a fucking chef at a restaurant!” I said and she bit her lips hard, trying to keep her face straight.

“You keep taking their sides and not mine. I wanted her to be punished but you simply didn't mind if you embarrassed me by saying you agree that she is punished by her equally rude boss!” Maggie complained and I blinked my confusion.

Does she really have no idea what could have happened if she kept up the fucking bravado at the restaurant?

“I did that for your sake Maggie. Your sake!” I thundered and she flinched but didn't back down.

“Yes, my sake. Good riddance, you even yell at me now?” She questioned but waved it off before I could even apologize. Not like I was going to anyway.

“My point is no matter what happens, as long as there are lots of people around, you should have taken my side. I am your fianceé, we'll be getting married as soon as you divorce that bitch!” She continued and I nodded tightly, sighing in frustration at the fact that even now, she was still so clueless.

“There were lots more people than you saw around, Maggie. Lots with clicking phone cameras and dirty looks on their faces. I did that to save your reputation, and mine!” Dane replied sternly and she blinked.

“We are public figures, and those people were hell bent on causing a very ugly scene that's why I intervened” he continued.

Although it was vice versa. She was the one hell bent on making a very ugly scene, but I sure couldn't tell that to her face. What if she suddenly changes her mind about informing her father about the company's financial status and the low income rate? I couldn't risk that. My new advisor was just as useless as every other ones I had since Savvy's disappearance.

“We're here, Beta” James muttered and I nodded once, but didn't bother getting off. I was busy trying to look Savannah up on the internet.

She wasn't the internet type while they were married… but alot about her changed, maybe I'd be able to find her this time.

“Aren't you getting off, Dane?” Maggi asked.

“Oh, I will. I just got a little distracted trying to finish up something important” I told her and she smiled gently before getting out of the car.

“Okay, I'll go up first” she said and I nodded in response. Of course, not without smiling in response.

If only she knew what I was doing…

Maggie might have an undeniable temper but she's still a gem any man in the business world would wish for. She has the influence and she wasn't only my first love, but also my lifesaver many years ago. I was just a fifteen year old beta's son who couldn't swim but she had saved me from drowning to death. Literally, I owed her my life as well as my heart.

If it hadn't been for Maggie's family's influence on my father's company three years ago, it probably wouldn't even be in existence anymore.

“James, I need you to get every information you can on Savannah before the end of today. Since she left with spite, she'd probably go back to her maiden name. So check Savannah Harris” I ordered James and I didn't miss the small frown that creased his forehead.

“Discreetly.” I added and he nodded still, swallowing the questions that ate at his guts.

I got out of the car after giving James the simple order, then I made my way into my office, realizing finding Savannah on social media will be harder than I thought.

Maggie was smiling adorably when I walked into the office. It was something she didn't normally do unless she was in an exceptionally good mood.

“Did something good happen?” I asked and she shrugged.

“Well, I just called father, and he said to give him two weeks to stabilize things at Linderson’s and he will stop at nothing to bring Walker's Fashion back to its two strong feet” she said and for the first time in the last three weeks, I felt genuinely happy.

I walked up to her and pulled her into a kiss.

“You always make me happy, Maggie” I told her sincerely and she giggled, pulling my face in for another kiss and I was more than happy to oblige.

A knock came on the door and I broke the kiss before telling whoever it was to come in.

It was James. He walked in with an invitation card.

“This came in through the mail, Sir. It says ‘Mystery’ on the envelope” he said and I took it from him then dismissed him.

Maggie rushed to my side to check the content of the invitation and it was the launching ceremony of the mystery designer of three years about to reveal herself.

We only found out recently that this mystery designer was a woman and it was said that she will launch her official design by 8am, tomorrow.

"The mystery woman is about to show herself? How come we are getting a very late invitation?" Maggie half yelled and I shrugged.

"Everything about her is mysterious, I guess," I replied and she smiled.

"It doesn't matter though. What matters now is attending that launching program and getting a collaboration with that woman. Then, even the Hayes Group will be nothing compared to us" I added and her eyes widened in realization. It was obvious she didn't think of that.

"You're right. Great, I have to go prepare the best cloth that will definitely get the mystery woman's attention. As they say, she has a keen eye for fashion and designing and I do too" she said before heading out of the office.

"James! Come drive us home" she yelled and I shook my head before heading out to join her.

I wonder what she was going to buy for the occasion this time. I just hope it'd be a little more decent than her usual preferences.
