Chapter Two

Looking around the room that I will occupy for the next 4 years of my life I realize I am alone for the first time in my life which is equally scary and exciting. On another note, I can’t believe all my furniture is set up and the bookshelf is clean and ready for me to organize all my books. It was like this room was made for me in the way it is simplistic in its elegance. Before I can get to putting all my books on the shelf that I brought along, I realize I am starving and have not had anything to eat since this morning when I stopped at the coffee shop in the airport before running to get on my flight on time, which means I only had enough time to get and eat a cheese Danish and finish off that with my ice mocha latte. I stand to go over to the desk to pick up the menus that Edgar laid on my there. I decided on a chicken taco salad and a large Starry.

I had to call my mama to get the login information for FataEats delivery services since this college is in a remote part of a small town, so you have to at least I don’t have to call in my order like I did in Edge Hill or drive 30 minutes to nearest large town to get a variety of foods. I have to admit that I miss delieverplus that a lot bigger cities have with a crap ton of good options, especially cheesecake yumm!!! That way I didn’t have to talk to or see people. I like spending my time with my mom or my books. Weird right? I don’t think so and maybe it is due to moving so much and never making lasting friends or being a quiet loner. Anyways, I decided to try a local place called Anna’s Cocina & Taco. It said my food would be delivered within 30 mins so I got busy with setting up my side of the room. The room is set up with two desks and on either side are queen beds. I thought the beds would be twin or full but this room seems to be bigger and even has its own bathroom unlike the other floors. My mama said they all have to share a bathroom between each floor. It also has two chairs for the desks and a dorm fridge and microwave on top in the middle of the desk. At the end of the beds on the walls has a closet and dresser for both students. The bathroom is off the right side of the rather bed from the room's main door.

By the time I was done with getting everything on the shelf and made the bed my phone notified me my order was here. I found a piece of paper that listed the numbers that I would need which included the guard desk in my folder the headmistress handed me earlier and called down there to have them let the delivery driver bring up my food. Not even 2 minutes after I heard a knock at my door and stopped my task of putting up my clothes to go to my door. The only boxes left to open and organize were the items for my desk such as my laptop, printer, picture of me and my mother, my drawing supplies, and my bathroom and hygiene supplies.

It took me a moment to get my bearings before there was another knock on my door. I stood up and went to answer the door and on the other side was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She is what I would imagine Aphrodite to look like with her long blonde hair down her back and curves of an hourglass shape and the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen, they were like a crystal ocean blue. We stood there just staring into each other's eyes and it was like the stars and the universe was held in her eyes, that she was what I needed to keep me grounded to earth.

Finally, everything came back to the here and now. I cleared my throat. Holding out the hand with my bag of food she was holding out. She handed it to me after shaking her head and said, “I have an order for Embyrson” I took the bag of food from her hand and as soon as I did there was the same shock I felt with Cyran, but this was different like I found my heart. “Thank you” I replied as she handed me my drink and then I heard a small “ your welcome” as she took off down the hall and I closed my door and took my food to my desk. What was going on and what is with all these strange feelings and sudden shocks when touching some people around here. This place is so weird. I take my food out and eat while getting everything fixed on my desk. I have been texting with one of my mothers old friends about a part time job. It is so strange that mama grew up here. This is where she met my father. I have not seen him since I was 3 years old. I still don’t understand why she took me and ran.

The taco salad was so good and by the time I was done eating and putting everything in its correct place and finished organizing the books I realized I was late to meet with mama friend, Tara Black. My mother had texted me her number and name while I was on my way here letting me know she talked with Tara to let her know I would arrive today and that I would probably like to get started before classes start. Once I was off the plane and took my phone off airplane mode I was bombarded with text from my mother, so I texted Tara immediately to discuss meeting today, after letting my mama know I arrived safely.

I got everything put up and my food containers in the trash. I text mama letting her know I was settled and about to leave to meet Tara. She texted back immediately and said that my present was in the student parking lot with a big blue bow on it. Mama told me I wouldn’t need to worry because daddy sent me a car for my birthday. I can’t believe I spent all day cleaning and setting up my room. I checked my text to make sure the time was correct and got the location to the clinic in my directions app set up to start when I go to leave. I’m to meet her at 10:00pm at the old mill which is now a vast building of different businesses.

After putting on my winter coat I bought just for ND winters, I walked out to the student parking lot which was off to the left of the residence hall building. As soon as I got to the parking lot there were like 10 cars in the lot and one with a blue bow was a 2022 Audi Spyder R8 Black. It was what I wanted for my birthday. I guess mama told daddy it was what was on my vision board. I found the key fob in my carry on bag. I took so much time looking at the new Audi that by the time I got the keys out of my bag and into my car, it said that it was 9:45 pm. It will take me at least 10 minutes to get there per GPS directions. So, I dial the number to Tara and on the second ring she answers in a sing-song voice, “Hello?”

“Hi, this is Embyrson. I wanted to let you know I lost track of time setting up my room and the GPS says I’m 10 minutes away, I'm just leaving campus”, I say in a hurried voice as I hit the push start on my car.

“Okay, sweetie no problem and take a breath, the clinic don't open till midnight so we have time. I just wanted to make sure you meet everyone you need to have you safely in the clinic before it opens back up. I'll let you go and see you soon. Just be careful driving this late at night and remember when you get to the parking lot, choose a spot that is as close to the building as you can. It is mandatory in your contract as the Medical Office Administrator working the night shift to wait for the guard on duty.” Then she said goodbye and hung up.
