AURORA’S POV
My stomach was in knots. Why the hell did Tyson want to have dinner with me!?
I had taken special care to stay out of his way for the past week. It had become very awkward to be around him, after the kiss. But, today I had no option but to face him.
I bumped headlong into the pillar as I walked into the dining room. If Tyson hadn’t caught me on time, I would have kissed the floor.
He led me to the table, even pulling out a chair for me to sit. His extraordinary behavior was driving me to the edge. I stole a glance at him to find that he was dressed in a brown, formal suit. It brought out the color of his eyes.
Sensing my stare he looked at me. My face flushed and I instantly lowered my eyes.
I decided to sip on the water just so that I could have something to do. My hands shook so much that I ended up spilling the water on the table.
“Why are you so jumpy?” his voice with a tone o
AURORA’S POVI was so sick of this place. The violence, bloodshed, and constant chatter about plots and killings made me feel suffocated. How I wished I could get out of this wretched place!“You know it is possible, right.” A voice sounded right next to me. Startled I spun around and almost bumped into a middle-aged lady.I hadn’t seen her in the palace before. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the locked door from the corner of my eye. How the F*** did this lady enter? She chuckled at my stunned expression and said, “Just the way you materialized in front of Caleb…”“You know about that!”She winked and said, “I even know how you did that. I can show you if you want.”I narrowed my eyes and asked, “How exactly are you going to do that?”“I can show you my memories…”“You can what?”She
AURORA’S POVI looked around the hall, everything was exactly where I had seen in the memory; my favorite horse, slide, swing, the couch… except for my parents…I exhaled deeply and sat on the couch. I tried to remember playing here as a child. The only thing that came to my mind was Celeste’s memories.“Glad that you made it.” Celeste’s voice sounded as she walked into my view. I stood up respectfully and smiled at her. After we were seated comfortably I fired the question that was disturbing me the most. “Why can’t I remember anything about my parents?”“We decided to wipe your memory to keep you safe.”“Why would you do that?”“Those were dark times for witches. The king of the dragons had issued a decree to kill all the powerful witches.”“Damn! But… I was just an infant Celeste.”Cele
CALEB’S POVI drew in a deep breath and walked into my bedroom. It was time for penance. Peeling my shirt, I looked into the mirror. In the faint light of the candle, I could see the marks on my back.Clenching my teeth, I picked up the hunter layered with silver and lashed against my back with as much force as I could conjure. The crackling noise of the whip echoed in the room as I struck myself again and again. One… two…three…four…five…I was about to strike for the sixth time when someone grabbed my hand.“Why are you doing this, Caleb? How will this help?”“It reminds me of my failure against those flamers, Meridith. It keeps the flame of revenge alive….”Her soft hands cupped my face and her lips crushed against mine. I found myself responding with ferocity.Aurora’s face flashed before my eyes and I pushed her away.&ldqu
ASLAN’S POV“Do you have to go, Aslan?”“Aurora is like my sister. I had left blood only to last her a month. I have to go and meet her.”“But, You promised to stay by my side,” Zarina said with teary eyes.“I am just going to meet Aurora. I am not going to stay with Tyson.” I explained, placing my hand on her shoulder.“What if he tries to keep you there by force?””I will use this locket to teleport back.” I said smiling.“I don’t have a good feeling about this, Aslan…”Damn! This girl was persistent. She didn’t expect me to stay with her like a prisoner, did she?Her face fell and she said in a low voice, “I never wanted you to feel like that brother.”I let out a deep sigh. This was the problem when you are living with a witch sister. You can’t even think freely. I was
CALEB’S POV “You have to decide quickly Caleb. The Dark Lord is getting restless by the day. He has left a reminder for you.” Meredith said entering with a huge box.I took the box from her and opened it with trembling hands only to shut it back quickly.“What’s inside?” Meredith asked, opening the lid of the box but I grabbed her hand and shook my head, and whispered, “Vondur…”“No!! How can he do that?” Meredith said massaging her head.Exhaling deeply, I said, “He is famous for his ruthlessness…”“Does that mean we have no choice in this matter?”“Don’t worry! I will think of a way…” I reassured her but the fact was that I was stuck with him unless a better choice presented itself before me.“Alpha Caleb, Ummm….”“Speak up! I don’t have all da
AURORA’S POV I gasped for air as the clenching sensation in my lungs magnified. I tried to kick and thrash but my body remained suspended in the air.My head hurt so much that it was difficult to form even a single coherent thought. My body felt drained of power and my lips were chapped due to dehydration. In my haze, I sensed a few drops of liquid drip on my lips. I ran my tongue around my lips and gulped the saliva that formed in my dry mouth greedily. I don’t know what the liquid was but my mind cleared instantly. Cracking open my eyes, I saw Logan standing in front of me. I tried to smile but it was like all the muscles of my face were locked in place. His eyes darted across the room warily. Once he was sure we were alone, he moved closer and whispered into my ears, “The only way to escape this place is to find which object represents you.”I was trying to process what he said when I
AURORA’S POV I couldn’t have imagined such a death even in my darkest fantasy; suspended in the air, surrounded by candles with weird fragrance. My death meant the return of someone very evil. It also meant the death of my little girl. I tried to use my magic but it was all in vain.My body was drained of all strength. Despair had taken root in my heart and had grown like Cuscuta engulfing my heart; draining it of the tiniest bit of hope that was left.I was on the verge of giving up when Tyson and Caleb appeared before me, I was sure that it was just an illusion. So, I didn’t bother to respond and closed my eyes.A few drops of warm liquid dripped on my face. My eyes snapped open, hoping that Logan had found some way to save me.My eyes met copper brown ones instead of the blue ones. Bloody Hell! Tyson was here for real.He caressed my forehead and croaked out, “I thought I had lost you
ASLAN’S POV “You should have gone with them. How will I find out where they are and how they are?” Zarina said with a scowl.“Sister, didn’t you say that you hate our brother? Why are you worried about his whereabouts?”“I am not worried about him Damit! I am worried that my plan will be ruined by them.”She already had plotted something? During my stay at her place, I figured out that Zarina was very cunning and secretive. If I wanted her to share her secrets with me, she had to believe that I was dedicated to her. I had trained myself to control my reactions around her.“Psst! Shall I tell you a secret?” She said leaning closer.I raised my head and looked at her expectantly. Her eyes were aglow with such cunning determination that I was taken aback.“Today we will meet our mother again.”“Are you alright, Zarina? I know you have b
AURORA’S POV Three months later…My lips spread into a wide grin as I watched Tyson play with the keys nervously. “What the hell is taking so long?”Bumping my shoulder against Tyson’s, I said in a teasing voice, “Is the great Dragon King afraid of being spotted at the clinic of Gynecologist?”His face turned red and he almost shouted, “How can you joke about this, Aurora? I am worried about our baby.”“Excuse me, mister! Is this your first time at a hospital? Please keep your voice low!”I burst out giggling as I saw the nurse chastise Tyson and storm away. I gasped his hand before he could pursue the nurse.“Do you not want to see our baby?”“F***! Aurora. If I wasn’t so tempted to see our baby on the screen, I would have never come to this wretched place.”Exhaling deeply, I said in a rueful voice,
AURORA’S POV I watched in horror as blood gushed out of the wound. It took me a few moments to realize what he had done.“Why the hell did you do that?” I shouted, making him lay in my lap.I was about to use my magic to assess him when he held my hands and shook his head.He gasped for breath and muttered, “I… I have to die…”“NO! I am so sorry I blamed you earlier… I… I was just angry with myself…I…”He struggled to get up as he said, “You don’t understand… My soul is linked to The Dark Lord… Till I am alive, he can come back for you… for Tiara…”I felt like someone had punched me in the gut. I grasped his hand and said in a panicked voice “You don’t have to die… I will find a way to unlink you…”He groaned in pain and managed to mutter, “It i
TYSON’S POVI was stunned when I didn’t find the stone in the locker. “I… had kept it here…” I stuttered.“I know you are not lying but where do you think it is?” Adam whispered a few inches from my ears sending shivers down my spine. It was too comfortable and dangerous to stay here alone with him.I gasped his hand and teleported back to the previous location before he could realize it.“If you want to save your daughter, tell me where the Heart of Magic is?” He gritted out grasping my neck.My eyes widened in surprise when I saw Aurora behind him. Without any warning, she thrust a dagger inside him. “Ahhhh!!!” His bloodcurdling scream sounded as he dropped to the ground.“Are you okay? Where is Tiara?” I asked jumping over Adam’s body to reach Aurora.Adam’s evil laughter sounded as he jumped to his feet. He pull
AURORA’S POV I closed my eyes and focused on the place I had seen in my memories and tried to teleport there. A few minutes later I had fallen on the ground, drenched in sweat and panting with exertion. My magical powers weren’t enough to penetrate the dark shield. There was only one way now…Teleporting to the sanctuary, I took out ‘The Heart of Magic’. I shivered at the currents of power coursed through me by just holding it.I was about to use it when my mind veered to the Old Lady’s words. ‘Every time you use this stone, you will lose a part of your soul. It will suck you of all happiness, love, kindness and all that will be left in a dark, cold corpse devoid of any feelings.’My hands trembled and my heart raced faster than horses. Aslan, Tyson, and Zarina had already taken their positions as per the plan.If I didn’t save Tiara on time, I would risk all of their l
AURORA’S POV We sat on the four sides of the map and joined our hands together.“When we give you the signal you all have to cut your palm and let the blood drip on the map. No one speaks in between. Is that clear?”We all nodded our heads and held hands forming a circle. Zarina and I closed our eyes and started chanting the spell.A first everything was dark but as the spell advanced, I could see glimpses of visions between the darkness but it was all hidden behind some haze…Sensing the tug at my hands, I opened my eyes and slit open my palm. The others did the same. All the blood trickled to the center and then nothing…“Damn! I had so much faith that this spell will work!” Zarina said tearing her hair.“It did work… Not the way locator spell works but I saw visions. Tiara is on Earth. We can’t sense her because she is shielded by some dark magic.&rdqu
TYSON’S POV “I went to the Roxiant today.”“What the F***! Why did you go there personally? You should have sent me or Zarina. Don’t You know how dangerous that place is? It is the meeting point of the most powerful seers in the world. What if someone decides to put a hex or a spell on you?”“You both were busy. Someone tipped me off about it and the lead was too good to wait.”“Tell me at least you found something useful, brother.”“I must say that the risk was worth it. I have a blueprint of The Dark Lord’s plan now. His plan is divided into phases. Phase one involves kidnapping Tiara.”“Damn! Is that why you sent Aurora to the sanctuary hastily?”“Hmm… I plan to keep them safe from this mess.”“If we don’t let him complete phase one, we could win easily,” Aslan said in a hopeful voi
CALEB’S POV It had been six months since I saw Aurora. On a whim I texted her to meet me near the bar. I didn’t know if she would come but I couldn’t stop myself from waiting for her.I paced up and down the sidewalk waiting for her. Ten minutes passed then twenty. When she didn’t come even after an hour’s wait, I decided to leave.I had just turned to walk away when Aurora materialized before me. Startled, I took a few steps backward.Smiling at me, she said, “Sorry for the delay, Caleb. Tyson insisted that I should wait till you start leaving just to make sure… you know how paranoid he is…”“I am surprised that he even let you come to meet me.”She snorted and said, “I am not his slave. I don’t need his permission.”“Alright… alright… by the way where is our little angel?”“I left her with As
ASLAN’S POV Aurora touched my soul once more through her kindness. There could be no one else like her. I was determined to help her find all the happiness in the world.“How the hell did you switch the babies though…” Aurora’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.“Aslan gave me the locket to his sanctuary. I put it around Tiara’s neck when I took her from you and teleported to the sanctuary. Raina was already waiting with our baby there… If only I knew Zizi could kill…”“Don’t you think we should tell her about Tyson before he burns the whole forest down?” Raina said abruptly.Letting out a deep sigh I said, “Tyson took whatever you said to his heart. He wanted us to give you Tiara and tell you that he is dead.”“Why would he do that?”“He loves you, Aurora. He doesn’t want to be the one who brings pro
ASLAN’S POV My heart sank when I saw Aurora leave. Did that mean Zarina had truly killed the baby? My heart beat like thunder as I moved to the front of the cage.“Zizi, Don’t tell me you killed the baby… You just wanted to use her as leverage right…” I asked in a shaking voice.“So what if I killed her… What do you care?”My knees gave way and I fell to the ground. Tears rolled down my cheeks and a scream erupted from my soul. This had to be a lie… She couldn’t do this…Tyson kneeled beside me and pulled me into a hug, “I am so sorry, Aslan. I… I am such a failure… I should have come up with something better…”“No, Tyson you didn’t fail… I was the one who failed.”Jumping to my feet I grasped the bars of the cage and roared, “I should have listened to Tyson. I should have let h
