It was the darkest part of the night as the rain poured down on the roof creating a haze which hid the woman in dark clothing. She was crouched on the roof, wrapped in her dark cloak, the hood over her face, making it impossible to see her face in the light of the night's Moons. There were no lights on in the streets below and it was dark and quiet in the small Village. It seemed to the woman; no one was up, although it was around midnight.
The woman in the dark clothing moved to the edge of the roof. She looked down in the street below seeing no one below or near her. On the wall below her was an open window. The woman dropped down from the edge of the roof catching the edge of the roof with her hands and entered through the window feet first. She cast her eyes around the room seeing no one. She then headed towards the shut door across from her. She slowly turned the knob on the door hearing the turbines turn in it, opening. It was unlocked.
She slowly pushed the door open, wincing when the door made a soft creak but she continued onwards. She glanced into the hall beyond the door then, slowly entered the small hallway of the house. It was quiet and empty as she looked around. She headed for one of the doors on the right side of the hallway. She turned the knob but the door was locked.
The woman reached into her pouch at her hip and grabbed her lock picking tools and started to work on the lock. The lock soon gave in and she quietly turned the knob as she put her tools back into the pouch on her hip.
The woman slowly opened the door, relieved that it made no sound. She looked into the room and saw her sleeping target. She already had the layout of the house from her client. She slowly entered the room and stalked across the floor softly making no noise. There was a glint of light and the soft sound of a blade leaving its scabbard as the woman took out a simple yet beautifully handcrafted dagger.
The blade was made out of a silver like glass and curved at the tip. The blade had never seen blood before. The handle was made out of some kind of brass and it was wrapped in a soft, tanned leather. It was well made, it being from one of the best blacksmiths in the land of huskarian.
The woman went to the edge of the bed and her arm with the dagger moved swiftly as she slit the man's uncovered throat. The man woke instantly, his eyes wide but he soon died unable to do anything but gasped for a few flickering moments. The woman then skillfully left the man's home from the same window she had entered from and was now going from roof to roof headed back to the inn she was staying at.
The sunlight streaming into the inn was what woke Leanunya, she sighed sitting up in her bed. She scratched her cheek yawning. She was a light sleeper but, as it was, it often came in handy to her. She was the best in her job and with the highest bounty on her head. So, she often had unwanted visitors at night trying to kill her but so far all of them had failed. She got up and got dressed.
Leanunya was a cattagon. She had soft silky silver fur which was rare by the cattagon standards. She had large tufted black cat ears that added to her catlike appearance. Her nose was pink while her muzzle was silver and black. Her eyes were a beautiful blue and silver adding to her beauty and rare appearance. Her tail was almost twice as long as any normal tail and it was tipped black with some spotting on it. She had black spotting all along her arms and her claws were long and black. She had mostly fur and little to no scales which was rare for a cattagon. She had large silver dragon wings rimmed black.
Leanunya pulled her clothes on then slipped her fingerless black gloves on. She had no shoes on, that was normal for a cattagon and cattrina. Good for her as she was posing as a cattrina. She then threw her black cloak over her silver dragon wings hiding them from view.
Leanunya gathered her stuff up and walked out of the inn's room. The woman at the counter of the large inn's main room smiled at her saying “good morning Nuluna want some breakfast?” Leanunya smiled walking over “yes I would love some before I leave” she had given the woman her fake name Nuluna. The woman smiled as she gave Leanunya her breakfast.
“Thanks” Leanunya smiled as she finished the food. She stood up and headed out saying farewell to the woman. Leanunya was now headed out of the town. She was headed for Rynion, the town of thieves, crooks and cutthroats. But there was also another reason she was leaving the town she was currently in. She was being hunted.
Leanunya walked out of the town using their gate to leave. It was safer this way to keep her cover as a traveler. She walked along the road, her tail swaying from side to side as she walked. She walked fast but not fast enough to rouse suspicion that she could be running from the town.
After a few hours, as she walked Leanunya noticed some wolves were starting to follow her. She didn’t react to them at first but when they neared her; she turned to face them hissing at them with her brand new blade out. It was clear the wolves were lean and desperate. She scared them off and then she continued on her way now unbothered.
Leanunya walked for several miles and barely even stopped the whole day. She finally stopped for the night and made a quick camp. No fire. She never lit one mostly because she could see just fine in the dark and so not to give her location away. She yawned and laid down next to a tree for the night before falling asleep.
As dawn rose Leanunya woke and gathered her stuff before making her way back on the road and continuing on her way. Up ahead she spotted a town and headed for it she knew it was the town lynotin. It was a town between her and Rynion. As she entered the town she spotted someone watching her from the shadows for a while before disappearing. She ignored the person thinking nothing of it.
She then continued on her way and bought a few bread rolls before sitting down to eat one. As she sat she noticed a few town guards heading her way. She quickly looked around and cursed. She had been surrounded because she let her guard down. She knew what it meant to be surrounded. She had been found out.
She quickly tucked the roll she had been eating away and stood. She was about to start walking away as if she didn’t notice what the guards were doing; when she saw him. It was Wolferan, the best of the best bounty hunters. She cursed her bad luck. She knew she could only get away by going up then down to try and avoid him.
Wolferan was a dracion and Leanunya knew he had been tracking her for years. He never gave up even though she had outsmarted him every time they had crossed paths. He was very stubborn, more so than a mule. Once he picked a target he would either catch them or they would die; he never gave up on a target he had chosen. He was a black and gold scaled dracion with black dragon wings and it was rumored he was immortal.
Leanunya turned and swiftly scaled the wall of the building behind her before she was on the roof and running away. Leanunya heard the sound of beating wings behind her and she knew wolferan was after her. She jumped down from the roof and ran through the maze-like alleys of the town ducking and weaving till she found what she was looking for; an entrance to the sewers. Leanunya quickly darted into it and continued to run, moving swiftly through the sewer system.
As she ran, she could hear the sound of followers; most likely wolferan and the city guards. She ran along avoiding traps and others in the sewers. She stopped and listened, her large ears great for detecting the smallest of sounds. She could hear nothing except the sound of her own quickened breathing. She glanced around and saw no one. Leanunya sighed in relief she now just had to make it out of the sewers and the town and she would be safe for another long while before wolferan tracked her down again, if she was lucky.
Leanunya started to move off, her tail flicking in irritance as she walked. She avoided the people in the sewers till she ran Into a man in black clothing. She stopped and watched the man who was close to an exit of the sewers. She could tell it was an exit because of the fresh air and light coming from it. She was unsure if the man was friend or foe. She waited watching the man, until the man swayed slightly on his feet as he turned and then walked off. He seemed to be drunk but with the stench of the sewers she couldn’t tell.
Leanunya waited for a while after the man left before she went to the exit and looked out. It was an exit she had been looking for, one that led outside of the town and into a forest. And it had no guards near it; it was her lucky break. She cautiously crept out of the sewers, slipping between the metal bars, tail flicking in nervousness. She heaved a sigh and left the sewer and entered the forest. She was safe for now.
Leanunya made her way through the forest. She had been traveling nonstop since she left that town behind her. It was starting to get dark but she didn’t even pause in her steps. Leanunya would be traveling the whole night tonight. She wanted to get as far from the town as she could. She was in a large forest and that suited her just fine. She could easily hide in it for months or even longer, if need be.
Leanunya walked in silence, her eyes adjusted to the already dark forest. She flicked her silver tail remembering the day she earned her bounty. She had a bounty of five-hundred thousand gold coins . The highest bounty any man or creature had ever seen before. And on her bounty paper it said “Wanted; only dead” she was the silver eyed demon. The king wished for her death ever since that night.
Leanunya was young; she was only ten at the time. But she knew everyone would try to kill her if she took her cloak off. She was an outlaw, her people the Cattagon had been banned. The king had given the order to kill any and all hybrids. Leanunya was a hybrid; she was a Cattagon. Her people were a mix of Cattrina and dracion. She was wanted dead already at the age of ten just because of what she was born as. But she was going to do something that would make her the most wanted criminal in the land of Huskarian.
Leanunya snuck past the guards of the castle and sneaked around looking for the man she wanted to kill. She found him, “the king”. She snuck closer to him drawing a black dagger out of its scabbard. When she was close enough she lunged at the man who was talking with another man from their sides. The king didn’t see or do anything until she had already stabbed him in the back. Leanunya cursed silently as she realized she had just barely missed his vital point but smirked in satisfaction as she heard him cry out in pain.
Leanunya pulled her dagger out and was about to stab him again when she was yanked back by the hood of her cloak. She turned to the man who the king had been talking to; the one who yanked her back, her face showing. She darted at the man with her dagger but before she could reach him she saw him pull a sword so quickly and skillfully that she could barely see it. Before she could even react he had slashed downward cutting her cleanly across the chest.
Leanunya half gasped and screamed as a wave of pain hit her. She stumbled backwards putting her free hand to her wounded chest. But she kept her dagger up even though it was shaking. She was backing up; she knew she had to leave now. She glanced at the king who was scrambling in pain on the ground now yelling for his guards. The man saw her look and stepped between her and the king, his sword in front of him. Leanunya growled, then turned and ran, escaping the guards and castle. She was now a wanted criminal.
Leanunya sighed as she walked in the dark forest remembering that day six years ago. She was now sixteen and had just about broken every law in the land. She had the largest bounty on her head and was on the run. One thing Leanunya liked about her bounty was that they had said a silver eyed Cattrina had done the deed and not a cattagon. It would prevent more hate to be pointed at the cattagon.Leanunya continued to walk in the forest. She was headed east and even though it was so dark she could still tell where she was going by the red emblem star it always pointed east. There were also the purple, blue and green emblem stars each one pointing in a direction. Leanunya sighed as she followed the Red emblem star. She kept her ears perked for both followers and predators, that might think her an easy meal. She quickened her pace and made her way into the dark forest.
Leanunya woke up early the next morning and she grabbed her stuff then headed out unnoticed. She headed towards the house where she was going to pick up the boy Nagos. Her tail was flicking; she felt something was off as she stepped onto the street the house was on. Leanunya pinned her ears when she saw Nagos's house door open. She swiftly crept to the door and heard the steps of heavy men as they walked around in the small home. It sounded like they were looking for something or someone.Leanunya peaked inside and saw two large and rugged men as they were looking around moving things around. She entered the home and narrowed her eyes at the men saying, “what are you looking for?”, her voice had a slight hiss to it.The two men turned to her and scowled; one with red hair and a scar a
Wolferan sighed looking at a map of the territory. He had lost track of the silver-eyed demon a day ago and was trying to figure out where she was going. He had been following her through the forest but hadn’t caught up to her or had any sign of her after finding that camp. He knew it had been the camp of the silver-eyes demon because of all the body’s she left behind. He knew her killing style by now and knew it was her who killed them. The thing that mystified him was the fact she had a child with her. He knew this by the fact that there were child sized shoe prints.Wolferan was confused by this as he had never once seen her travel with anyone. He was wondering if she had kidnapped him but no one from Rynion was reporting a missing child. Wolferan sighed, mulling this matter over in his mind. It never once crossed his mind that the child’s parents could have asked the silver-eyed demon
Leanunya woke the next morning and looked around, having barely slept any. She stood up and stretched looking at the sleeping Nagos. She sighed softly and worked to make them some breakfast. They had run out of the food she had bought a week and a half ago. She had since found food they could eat mostly fruits, berries and mushrooms. Rarely did she start or make a fire so she didn’t hunt but since they were so close to the forbidden forest she was willing to have a fire. Leanunya made a fire pit and using her dragon's fire breath, she started it. She then stood from her squat she was in to start the fire and went to hunt something down for them to eat. She moved silently into the forest around them and looked for any signs for prey. She walked silently looking and soon noticed the tracks on a
Leanunya ran to the shack swiftly and drew a knife in the process. She covered the hundred yards in a matter of seconds and reached the shack. She could see a pack of zarowls outside the shack. They were giant wolf-like creatures who’s fangs and claws were stronger than steel. Leanunya hissed at them, gaining their attention. A few attacked her and she dodged before stabbing one through the base of its jaw and through its throat killing it. She then swiftly attacked the other that attacked her stabbing it through its eye and into its brain killing it.She hissed once again her ears flattened to her head, her wings spreading wide and her tail fluffed up lashing side to side. She then darted forward attacking another zarowl killing it just as swiftly as the other two with a dagger to the throat. She needed to get inside the shack and to Nagos. She had to protect him. She hissed angrily and the za
In the morning Leanunya stood and stretched. She had stayed up most of the night making sure Nagos was warm enough and to keep predators away. She looked at the still sleeping nagos and went to him, shaking him.“Time to get up, come on. Your training starts.” Nagos opened his eyes and looked at her. She spoke, “You'll be getting up at dawn from now on, ok?” Nagos nodded after sitting up and stretching out.Leanunya watched him calmly as he got up. She nodded “come on let’s go out. You’ll only get breakfast after fifty laps around the shack.” She then left the shack and entered the cold air of the forest making her fur fluff up in response. She looked at Nagos who shivered and was holding his hurt arm. She spoke, “get going.” Nagos nodded and started to walk around the shack. Leanunya spoke
Nagos ran training, trying to keep up with leanunya. It always amazed him at how fast she could run and have so much agility at the same time. He had already been training under her for over two years. The training was harsh most of the time and many times he had almost died. He managed to survive though and now he was almost ready to go home again. He could barely wait to see his father again. He was overly excited to see his father after two years. He had already grown at least a foot in height if not more though he wasn’t positive on that.He ran barely keeping up with Leanunya who was in front of him. Nagos was panting as he ran after her. He had learned to hunt and read a situation he was in since he had started training. He could now tell when to run or fight after a few minutes. He had also become good at spotting openings in his target. Leanunya had taught him to always go for the kill
Wolferan sighed reading a report he had gotten. He had reread the paper at least ten times already. He was really disappointed. He had no news of the silver-eyed demon and only kept getting reports of rumors that always turned out to be false. This was frustrating him to no end. It had been two whole years since he had any real news of her. There had been a few times when he had reports of a mysterious woman in a few towns near where he lost the silver-eyed demon last, but it was always brief. The reports said a mysterious cattrina came into town with a boy and bought clothes and left. There was no definitive proof it was the silver-eyed demon as none of his informants got a good look at the woman and boy. He didn’t believe those reports to be the silver-eyed demon but he had a nagging feeling towards those reports and remembered them. He didn’t know why they bothered him but they did. He
Leanunya noticed the lady who stood next to her and after a few moments looked up at her. She recognized her from one of the staff in the kitchen and flicked her tail irritably. She paused wondering why she was here and asked.“Do you need something?” Jessie spoke, “yes, my name is Jessie the head chef in the kitchen. I was hoping to get your likes and dislikes on food so we can better cook for you.” Leanunya blinked, “Why?”Jessie smiled softly, “we want to be able to better accommodate you while you are staying here. If we know what foods you like and dislike we can better prepare foods to your liking.”Leanunya nodded softly. She looked down in thought wondering how to answer. She didn’t really dislike any kind of food. She had some foods she liked
Leanunya looked out the window and saw Wolferan leave and huffed softly, swishing her tail thinking; ‘good riddance’. She turned away from the window in her room and looked to her bed and the soft blankets on it. A servant had brought her several last night and slept with them. She really liked soft things but didn’t think Wolferan would have found out but with what the servant said last night he had found out. Although this wasn’t too bad she still didn’t like the fact he knew. She didn’t like him, period. He was always stepping on her tail and there was only so much patience she had with that. If not for the fact he was stronger than her she would have already made a move to hurt him. This was also the r
Wolferan sighed thinking on the matter a while more before giving up until he talked to the witness. Since it was just past noon he figured he would wait until tomorrow to leave. It would also give his servants some time to get everything ready for him and to be prepared to deal with leanunya alone. He looked around the room and noticed a servant walk over telling him lunch was ready. He nodded and stood going to put the reports on Leanunya up in his study. He put the reports up before going to the dining room.He entered the dining room and sat at the head of the table where he normally sat. He looked at the food prepared and nodded softly. The kitchen had made some lamb chops with some green beans and potatoes. It not only smelled good it also looked good and made his stomachs grumble in anticipa
Leanunya sat at the table with Wolferan to eat lunch. It was simple but good. It was mainly some sliced meat, bread and cheeses with some olives to eat but was quite filling. She soon ate her fill and excused herself from the table before walking off still holding the book she had been reading in the library. She walked around and found a couch to sit down on to continue reading the book she had in her hands. She sat down on the brown couch positioning herself so her wings wouldn’t get crushed behind her and cause her pain. She then noticed a throw blanket on the back of the couch. She flicked her tail before reaching out and touched it. It was soft under her touch and slightly smiled before pulling it down into her lap relaxing a bit.She glanced around and not seeing anyone smiled snuggling into the soft blanket face first like a little kid. she r
Leanunya looked to the door as there was a knock. She got up and went to the door, opening it to find a servant, the same one as before who led her to her room. He bowed to her before he spoke.“Lunch is ready. I’ll take you to the dining room.” She nodded softly, “Thank you, may I get your name?” The servant blinked, “My name is Jonece.” She nodded. She followed Jonece as he led the way to the dining room. She walked, flicking her tail as she followed him to the dinning hall and entered. She looked around before she was directed to sit. She sat down shifting her wings to make it more comfortable to sit.Leanunya looked at the spread of food on the table before her and looked over as Wolferan entered the room. He went and sat at the table. He looked at her before he gr
Leanunya looked at the ground as Wolferan flew. She could tell they were going back to his home from the direction he was headed. She looked at the ground passing below, staying silent. She wanted nothing more than to sleep and get some rest so she could heal. She didn’t want to deal with wolferan or anyone else. She just wanted to be left alone.Though she knew it wasn’t possible anymore at this point. She could only endure and try to ignore Wolferan. She didn’t want others to see her weaknesses but Wolferan had seen it and even made fun of it. She couldn’t stand it. It was the worst humiliation. She looked at wolferan and flicked her tail looking back to the ground as they flew. She watched as the ground below passed by. She could see the forest below and thought it would be nice to take a nap there in a tree without being
Wolferan sighed silently looking at Leanunya who had refused to talk since that disaster during yesterday's lunch. He had managed to gain some of her trust and got her to talk fairly freely but now she wouldn’t even reply to him. He had no idea how to salvage this. He had pushed too far in his questioning and instead of answers he got nothing but silence. He had tried several ways to get her to talk but to no avail. He had seemed to cross a line of hers but what that line was he had no clue. This left him stewing in his own frustration and confusion. He sighed and figured he could only wait for her to talk to him. Perhaps he could get her to talk again by letting her ask him questions? He didn’t know though as she seemed determined to stay silent. He had let her rest an hour after that disaster before he carried her continuing to fly on their
Leanunya watched as the old man and others got in the wagon driving off after saying goodbye to them and offering their thanks for the help. She looked at Wolferan who watched them disappear from view. He then turned to her and spoke.“Want to have lunch now since we are already here?” She sighed and nodded, “I guess. Why didn't you let me help?’ Wolferan looked at her, “you are injured. Now, I am curious why you wanted to help them?” She spoke, “They needed help, there was only an old man and two women like they could get out of the mud.”Wolferan took the bag off his back moving to the side of the road while asking, “Tell me again why you wanted to help them. This time don't lie.” Leanunya looked at her and sighed following him to the side of the road, “they needed help and we could
Leanunya woke to a light drizzle in the morning. She had actually slept the whole night through. She was both daunted by this and excited, she had never slept a whole night through ever since she first went to the forbidden forest. She was feeling well rested. She rarely felt well rested anymore and was glad as she had needed the sleep.Although she was glad for the rest she disliked waking to rain. It made her already aching broken ribs and wing ache even more, putting her in a foul mood despite her good rest. She stood up and went underneath a nearby tree to get out of the rain. She then looked to wolferan who was still by the now just smoking fire pit digging in his bag.She looked at him and then looked up at the cloud darkened sky. Although she liked the smell and sounds of rain she rather liked them when she wasn't wet. It seemed like Wolferan wasn'
