“ I mean, I'm your mother's old friend.” She suddenly grinned up at me.

I turned to face mom. An uncomfortable smile appeared on her face as she looked at Catherine.

“ Is she??” I asked, narrowing my eyes at mom.

“ Yes.” She breathed out before standing up and Catherine gave her big smile as she hugged mom.

I shook my head at the odd situation as they broke apart. “ It's been a long time, Nancy.” Catherine said and nodded quietly.

“ Yes. I-It's good to see you again.” Mom replied before Catherine turned to face me.

“ Look at you!! You have grown up into a beautiful woman now.” She smiled at me and I stood up with an hesitant smile.

“ But I don't remember you.” I chuckled, shrugging.

“ You were this small when I last saw you.” She made a gesture with both her hands to describe my size and laughed.

“ It's nice to meet you… um..??” I trailed off not knowing how I should address her.

“ Call me Catherine.” She smiled again, pulling me into a hug.

“ Nice to meet you,
