CHAPTER 1

The sound of glass shattering on the floor echoes through the room. Penelope now on her knees with tears pouring down her rosy cheeky, “Marriage?” She said her voice cracking and barely above a whisper. She knew what marriage meant for her but in this moment it was a cry for clarity, one to reassure her that she had misheard her father’s word. “ yes marriage Penelope, you are to marry the king and give him an heir” her father Alpha Philip said coldly with authority resonating through his voice. “But father…..” Penelope cried out clenching her hands in a failed attempt to protest, she knew it was no use this had been her life, and she was to live for the benefit of others only. “It is an omega's duty to serve and bring honor to her family, that is the only way you can be of use to this family. This marriage will be of great value to our family so prepare yourself the elders will be here tomorrow to start the marriage rights” Alpha Phillip said calmly as he left the room leaving Penelope on the floor with tears streaming down her face thinking about how unfortunate her life was and all because she was born an omega.

The birth of an omega was highly unusual and frowned upon. It was believed they were of little to no value to the community and therefore irrelevant. It had been over a hundred years since an omega had been born into the kingdom of Enchantia and at this, they were believed to be a myth however this was about to change.

Loud footsteps of could be heard from outside the small borning room as Alpha Philip paced back and forth in anticipation of the birth of his child. This birth had brought him much worry due to his wife Beta Lela’s difficult pregnancy. It was unlike her previous 3 pregnancies which had run smoothly and ended in the birth of her 2 alpha sons John and George and her beta daughter Caroline. Beta Lela’s cries filled the room, she was exhausted and had been in labor for many hours with nothing to show for it. The midwives began losing hope of a good outcome but continued to edge her on “Come on, we can see the head of the pup. One big push and that will be all” the head midwife said as she looked at the exhausted beta who had sweat pouring down her face slowly nodding. “Argh” Lela yelled mustering up all her strength to push, finally it was over and she smiled to herself but there was no cry, she could not hear her baby’s cry. She glanced at the midwife now holding a limp pale baby in her arms her face filled with sadness signaling that the baby had passed on, the midwife then walked across the room to clean up the baby before placing it in the beta’s arms "No please, please my baby” the beta yelled," My baby can't die". Hearing the distressed voice of his mate alpha Philip barged into the room and immediately rushed to his mate's side who was now holding the limp baby in her arms crying out in pain "Please moon goddess save my baby. Please save my child" she cried out while looking at her baby "Please" she cried out her heart completely broken. Suddenly she felt movement in her arms at first she thought it was a hallucination but then she felt it again and then a loud cry came out of the baby's lips. Seeing this Lela held her baby tightly Full of joy as she looked at her now smiling husband and began to thank the moon goddess for this miracle when suddenly she saw the happiness drained from her mate's face now replaced with a look of confusion and anger. Panicked She quickly turned to look at the baby in her arms whose eyes now shone with a bright blue color Lela's eyes widened in disbelief with tears streaming down her face she whispered "Omega?"

From that day onwards Penelope's life was set in stone her daily routine comprised of tutoring sessions learning how to cook clean and behave around the higher ranks. “ conceal don’t feel, be seen never heard, only speak when spoken to, Never look directly into the eyes of a higher rank and most importantly submission and respect.” And even though she did not agree to all these things she knew it was not use protesting. Growing up in a house full of alpha was not the easiest, Penelope wasn’t as strong fast, or articulate as the rest of her family. She was soft delicate and sensitive, it took a while for her to understand why she was so different and it did not help that her parents lacked the patience to understand the difference between their children often comparing Penelope and her sibling. Penelope often found herself feeling alone and invisible even with her family. All the attention and love from her parents seemed to be towards her older siblings. Oh how she longed to be like them powerful strong and loved, but a girl could only dream and she too had come to slowly come to terms with her sad reality. Penelope had grown into a beautiful strong-willed young lady, with long wavy shiny red hair, soft pale skin, beautiful blue doll eyes pink full lips a bottom nose with freckles scattered beautifully across her face and curves her clothes barely hide. She was indeed a rare beauty and although she did not realize it herself

Every moment of her life had led to this very moment, after hearing about the news of her arranged marriage she knew she had to run away, this was her breaking point, and she made her escape once she was sure everyone had gone to bed. Now In the middle of the forest, a wolf with pure white fur was running as fast as its paws could go now covered with mud and injured she tried her best to run as fast as she could. Unfortunately, some of her father's guards had seen Penelope climb down her window and run into the nearby woods. Alarmed they chased after her, she tried to run as fast as she could but her body was losing its energy, “ curse this omega body” Penelope said to herself. Her wolf Let out a low howl, seeing the Pack border "Finally there is the Pack border. "Her wolf said, making Penelope light up with an unknown hope. Only a few meters and she will be able to escape her father’s guards. Penelope increased her pace, ignoring the pain in his body, and launched towards the Border. There lay her freedom she could see it and smell it, anything would be better than her present living conditions then suddenly a sharp pain was felt coursing through her back and everything went black.
