Chapter 2

"Mom, let go of my hand. Why are you apologizing to her? What did I do wrong?" 

Amelie's questions were relentless. Making Lauren stop her steps and release her hand. Lauren looked at Amelie, who still looked upset.

"The man you were with earlier was Raymond," Lauren explained.

"I didn't ask," Amelie snapped. 

Lauren's look was terrifying. She was staring intently at Amelie. It made Amelie feel uncomfortable and uneasy. 

"Yes, who is he? Who is Raymond?" asked Amelie, after getting a sharp look from Lauren Amelie lowered her voice slightly. 

"You'll find out later. Now come with me." Amelie, gasped as her hand was forcefully pulled by Lauren. Amelie thought Lauren would explain who Raymond was but she didn't. Lauren led her into the pack house.

The packed house was surprisingly large. Along the way, Amelie stared in awe at the whole pack house which looked strange and a little creepy. There were several guardian statues in front of the terrace. The courtyard was large, with a garden and a fountain in the center.

However, it wasn't the main door that Lauren went through. Instead, it was the back door and now Amelie was in Lauren's room. A very small room that was far from her expectations. 

"Sit down, put your suitcase over there." Lauren pointed with an order. 

Amelie complied. Put away her suitcase and sat in front of Lauren. 

"Raymond Reid, the first child of the Reid family. Jacob and Alfie Reid are his two younger brothers. Don't ever be impolite or disrespectful. Don't interfere, let alone find out about his life. And keep your ears closed and don't be curious about what you hear," said Lauren.

"I don't understand," said Amelie.

"It's better that you don't understand. Just remember what I told you," Lauren replied. 

Amelie didn't understand anymore. Lauren walked over to the drawer and picked up an envelope which she handed to Amelie.

"What's this?" asked Amelie who opened the envelope. 

"Starting tomorrow you will be going to Reid High School, Mrs. Anne gave you the scholarship. And you can study there. That's why I asked you to transfer," Lauren explained. 

Amelie was stunned, she speechlessly still didn't expect to go to a popular school. Only the children of the crazy rich can study there, Amelie didn't expect to be one of them.

"Mom, is this for real? I got a scholarship to study there?" 

Amelie looked happy. But not Lauren, who was scared because of her identity as a servant. However, Anne did not call Amelie a servant's daughter but made Amelie her daughter. 

"I wasn't going to give it to you at first, but seeing you so happy I couldn't help it," Lauren said.

"Why did you say that? I'm happy to be going to school there. I won't waste it, I promise I'll succeed." Amelie promised, hugging Lauren. 

Lauren released her hug. 

"Hurry up and clean up, and come with me to the back to prepare dinner." 

"Yes!" Amelie replied excitedly. 

Amelie hurriedly tidied up all her clothes. Then she followed Lauren into the kitchen. The scholarship was not free. Of course, Amelie would have to work and devote her entire life to the Reid family.

Night had fallen, and Amelie was glued in front of the long table filled with the Reid family. Amelie was very nervous especially when those scary faces looked at her. The Reid family was truly like the undead. 

"Mr. Matt, Mrs. Anne, please meet my daughter Amelie." 

Amelie bowed as Lauren introduced her. 

 "Welcome Amelie," was Anne's most enthusiastic greeting. Her smiling face favored Amelie. "You're prettier than I thought," continued Anne who was still looking at Amelie with a smile.

"O, yes, this is Alfie." Anne pointed to the cute man sitting next to her. "This is Jacob." She pointed again at the cold man sitting next to Alfie. "And that's Raymond." Anne pointed to the man at the end of the long table. Without explaining, Amelie already knew who Raymond was and that he was the most annoying guy to her.

"Nice to meet you," Alfie said, unexpectedly.

Amelie was quite surprised by the welcome Alfie gave her. It wasn't just Alfie's kind words but his smile too. 

Amelie bowed, smiling.

"And this is my husband Mr. Matthew. You can call him Mr. Matt," Anne said, taking her husband's hand. 

Amelie was instantly wide-eyed. Matthew looked more like a vampire. His gaze was so sharp that it scared Amelie. It was as if Matthew did not accept her presence. Amelie bowed and turned to Lauren. She couldn't bear to look at Matthew. 

Without Matt realizing it, Raymond was watching him. And Raymond was curious, with his father's gaze on Amelie. Matt looked at Amelie as if she were an enemy.

 Amelie looked at Reymond confused. 

"Are we done? When are we going to have dinner if you keep standing there," said Reymond staring at Amelie. 

Amelie who was stared at realized, apologized and left.

"Sorry. Please continue with your dinner," she said stiffly and left the dining room. Lauren bowed and left with Amelie.

Matthew, Jacob did not say anything, not even reprimanding Reymond's behavior just now. They focused on the dishes in front of them, but Alfie gave Reymond an annoyed look. 

"Can't you be nice? What's wrong with introducing yourself? You should be able to behave yourself." 

Reymond, who was about to scoop up his dinner had to stop because of Alfie's words. Reymond looked at Alfie coldly, his eyes were so wide that it was probably his gaze. 

"Who is she? Did I hear wrong?" asked Reymond, who looked at everyone there. "She said she's Lauren's daughter, what does that have to do with us?" Reymond looked at Alfie. "Ah, I forgot, humans are your relatives aren't they?" added Raymond looking sarcastically at Alfie.

Previously, Raymond and Alfie argued. Because Alfie had not been able to do the shifting to the shame of his family. Alfie, too, was too nice for a werewolf. And he is the most familiar with humans. Maybe because Anne was born a human. 

And Raymond's words unconsciously offended Anne.

"Reymond!" snapped Matthew. Reymond immediately looked at Matthew who was now staring at him sharply. Reymond clucked like that. 

Reymond regretted his words just now. "Sorry, I didn't mean to offend." He said while looking at Anne. 

Anne remained silent. The dinner was now silent. No one dared to start until finally, Anne left the room. Matthew went after her. 

Reymond, Jacob and Alfie, were the only ones still in place. At that moment Jacob got up and looked at the two men beside him.

"Are you guys going to stop fighting? After hurting Mom." 

Jacob immediately left the room, leaving only Alfie and Reymond in silence. 

"Do humans and werewolves have to know each other?" Alfie asked Reymond. "The answer is they should," he added. "You should have thought of our mother before saying that," Alfie added with emotion.

Alfie also left the dining room, now it was just Reymond. That was the nature of Reymond, who never cared about others. Did his words offend anyone? He didn't care. And his heart was so hard, his attitude showed that he was very arrogant.
