LIAM’S POV.

“Mendy! Mendy! Where are you?’ I continuously called her out as I went outside the compound of my house. I searched the backyard to check if she was in there, but to my utmost surprise, she wasn’t there at all.

I kept searching every corner of the house to check if she dropped any letters at all before heading outside of the house. I searched carefully without any limiting factor weighing me down.

"I hope she hasn't gone to attack Chloe. I hope she isn’t planning to do anything dangerous that could tarnish my image in the pack." I spoke to my inner child as I flooded my mind with different thoughts.

I pushed the door of my sitting room open and went to go make coffee to start my day properly before I heard footsteps coming from the end of the door. I turned and saw Mendy with some luggage on her back and on her hand. From the look of things, she looked very distressed and palpable as she stood at the entrance of the door.

I dropped the glass cup of coffee I had in my hands

Chloe’s POV"Alpha Jax, what happened?" I asked, rushing to his side.As I reached him, I fell to my knees, my hands grabbing his arms. His body was burning up, yet he was shivering like a soul trapped inside a freezer."Alpha Jax," I murmured, frantically thinking of a way to save him. Did I even know the nature of his sickness? His face looked pale, his lips were trembling, and his eyes were shut tight. It seemed like he was about to have a seizure at any moment.I couldn't let him die. If Alpha Jax died now, everything would go bankrupt. I pleaded, "Please wake up, open your eyes," tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't afford to lose him.I touched the blanket covering his body, and it was as if the cloth was soaked through, feeling damp and cold."What’s happening? I can’t even think of a way to cure his sickness. His body is hot, but he's shaking with cold, and the blanket he used was wet with his own sweat. My mind is racing as I search for a way to bring him back to normal. I

Chloe’s POV His words kept ringing in my head, how the hell would he tell me to get out of his room after treating him? If not for me, he would’ve still been lying down lifeless, or probably he would’ve died by now. “Are you telling me to get out of your room?” I repeated and he wiggled his head in approval. As I keep glaring at him dangerously my heart limps my flesh and the regression of saving him Tear me apart. “Yes I mean it, so stand up and get out” he repeated and I stood furiously storming out of his room to mine. On walking there my eyes fixed on space while my mind thought of a way to get back at him. How dare he Send me out of his room after giving him a full treatment? If not for me he would’ve been miserable by now. “He’s so ungrateful after treating him he can only send me out of his room” I scoffed finally getting to my room and I banged the door loudly. Falling heavily on the bed while a loud groan escaped my mouth. My mind pinpointed the injury on my legs and

Jax’s POV I sat down on the bed, my eyes stuck on the wall, glaring at it angrily. I kept wondering what herbs she had used for me. Before, I had to endure the sickness for almost five to four hours before it relieved me, but today, I only spent up to thirty minutes in bed. If only she could open her mouth and tell me the herbs she preserved for me. I stood up with a mix of emotions, thinking of a way to lure her closer and gain some knowledge about the herbs. But She seemed so stubborn; even if I tried to persuade her, I knew she wouldn’t tell me. Inhaling and exhaling louder, I stepped out of my room feeling my energy coming back to me. This was my first time recovering and gaining so much strength within some period. My foot directed me to the way to the kitchen, and I couldn’t help but wonder why my mind kept pushing me toward where the kitchen was. I don’t have any work I have there, but since my mind wants me there, then I will listen. I walked toward the kitchen, then I heard

You just said the moon goddess has blessed me with a new mate," I said, hearing him take a deep breath."Yes, that's right, the moon goddess has blessed you with another mate, but I'm worried you won't be able to find her because of the curse on your body," Ryan said, causing my eyes to widen in alarm."What do you mean by that?" I asked, and he focused his attention fully on me."The curse in your body is blocking the path to meeting your mate. Remember when the witch told you about your mate?" Chapter 56. Chloe's POV. I paced around when I heard that my kids were nowhere to be found. I hope that Mendy had not taken them away from me for that would be an utter disaster. My heart was beating faster than a sports car but I didn't even know what to say. A few minutes later, the kids came barreling into the house with excitement in their eyes. I was worried sick, but they were busy enjoying themselves out there. It was wild, to say the least. "Where did you go all along?" "We were at Miss Mendy's place." "Mendy?" "Yes, she gave us something to eat and it was pretty tasty," Aria answered with a small smile. "Tasty? Why are you going over to your teacher's house without my consent?" I asked them. "Is there any reason why I shouldn't allow my kids to visit their lovely teacher?" "You should have told me right from the start. I don't appreciate you taking them anywhere without my consent. This isn't even to be negotiated. How don't you see this as a problem?"

Chapter 55. Liam's POV. "Where are we going to?" Asher inquired curiously making me wonder what exactly the problem was. I was waiting to see what could be done concerning these children because they seemed to have a stronger mind of their own. Courtesy of their mother. Chloe influenced the kids because that was the only reason they would ask me such deep questions like adults. "When we get to this place, I want you to be well-behaved. If not, I'm going to take you back immediately," I told both of them Aria looked up at me, inspecting my eyes. "Are you serious right now?" My eyes widened at her language. Again Chloe was to be blamed. "I don't understand what exactly you are talking about but I just want you to be mindful of whatever you are doing." "Tell me what exactly you want. You cried that you wanted to come with me, and I allowed you, and now you're asking if I'm serious? Spare those languages for your mom." Asher looked at me as though I had said something

Chapter 54 Chloe’s POV My heart beat faster as I watched Chloe fall down on the floor, my eyes widened. At first, I thought she was joking until I used my leg to tap her ass, and she refused to lift her body up. “Chloe, stop joking and wake up. Stand up right now!” I lamented, praying for her to get up, but instead, her body remained on the floor. My heart started beating even faster. “Dad! Mom!” I heard a voice from behind, and I turned only to find Aria walking toward me, her brows furrowed. “Dad, what happened to Mom?” Her small voice yelled as she ran to Chloe, leaning beside her and tapping her forehead. “Dad, she is hot! She is feeling hot!” she screamed, and I had no option but to lean toward Chloe and touch her forehead. She felt like somebody who had just been pulled out of hot water. Sweat erupted out of my body as I raised my gaze up. “Aria, stand up. Go to your room. I will be back, let me take Mommy to the hospital,” I said, and she nodded, though she hesitated fo

Chapter 53 Chloe’s POV I hesitated, unsure whether I should assist Liam or not. My gaze lingered on him, filled with a mix of anger and resentment. Initially, I decided to leave him to his fate, but when he groaned in pain, my resolve wavered. I turned back to him, and a wave of sadness washed over me. Reluctantly, I chose to help him. I approached him, bending down to his level, and gently assisted him to his feet. I tried lifting him up, but he seemed heavy. No matter how hard I tried, he kept falling back onto the floor. I didn't know what to do as sadness bubbled up in my mind. I sat down beside him with a trembling body. Tears streamed down my cheek, I didn't know why or what made everything change suddenly. The Liam I got mated to is not the one sitting beside me. The Liam I know would never go out and get himself drunk. The Liam I know would never raise his voice at me, no matter what the situation was. But the one sitting on the floor was totally different. I cleaned th

Chapter 52 Chloe’s POV The silence in the house feels suffocating, and the thought in my chest refuses to lift no matter how much I try to distract myself. The kids are upstairs playing, and I sit alone on the living room couch, staring blankly at the window side. How did we get here? I run my hands through my hair, frustration building as the memories flood back, Liam’s words, his accusations, the bitterness in his voice when he said I’d caused him to lose so much. Every time I replay it, I come up empty. What did I do to deserve this? Where did I go so wrong? Blaming myself is easier than facing the possibility that Liam might be wrong. If it’s my fault, at least I have some control. “Mama?” I heard Asher voice, interrupting my thoughts, and I look up to see him standing at the edge of the room, his wide eyes filled with concern. “Yes, sweetheart?” I say, forcing a smile that feels like it might crack my face. “Are you okay?” He asks, walking closer. Each step i took away from Chloe feels like I’m putting distance between myself and the chaos she brings, but I know it’s a temporary reprieve. Her face lingers in my mind, etched with defiance and hurt, and it only fuels the storm brewing inside of me. I head to the trails behind the house, hoping a run will clear my head. The cool air hits my face as I start, my feet pounding against the dirt path. My muscles ache in ways they haven’t before, and my breath catches, uneven and unfamiliar. Something feels… off. I slow to a walk, pressing a hand to my chest. It’s not just physical, there’s a shift deep within me, something I can’t quite place. My wolf stirs uneasily, a low growl vibrating at the edges of my consciousness. “What now?” I mutter aloud, running a hand through my hair. I search his face, desperate to find something, anything that might make sense of the mess we’ve become. He falters, just for a second. His lips parted as if he were going to say something, and for the briefest moment, I saw the man I was mated to. The man who once held me when I was breaking. But then, as quickly as it came, it’s gone. His jaw tightens, and his eyes harden like steel.“I can’t keep doing this,” he mutters, running a hand through his hair. “I’m tired of everything, I remember…” His voice trails off, and I can see the wheels turning in his head.“Remember what?” I ask, stepping closer. “What is it, Liam? She stared at him, her breath catching in her throat. “What do you mean by that?” she demanded, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and disbelief. He didn’t answer. Instead, he busied himself with his phone, scrolling through it as though she weren’t even there. The casual indifference in his actions ignited a fire in her chest. “Liam!” she snapped, stepping closer. “What do you mean I’m overreacting? Say it to my face.” He didn’t even look up. The phone in his hand buzzed, and before Chloe could say another word, he answered it. “Mendy,” Liam said, his voice softening, a stark contrast to the irritation he’d shown Chloe moments before. “No, it’s fine.
