Chapter Four: Bait.

What he said surprised me. Yesterday, he said I will be his slave, now he’s declaring that I’m his soon-to-be-wife? Really? What is in his mind?

“I didn’t know what you are planning to do, but no! I’m not marrying someone that I didn’t love.”

His piercing eyes narrowed as his brow arched. “Do you think it is necessary to marry someone you love these days? Holly, the world has changed. You have to marry someone like me. I am an Alpha, and you are just a mere human. How could you turn down such a precious offer?”

I gritted my teeth while still glaring at him. “That’s what I want to know! I am just a human and there’s nothing you can get from me. There are lots of woman out there! You said you have no intention on making me your sex slave. What now?!” I yelled.

I do not care whether he would get mad at me now that I yelled at him. What I want right now is to let me go.

Instead of getting mad at me for yelling, his jaw clenched, and then he grabbed my wrist.

“These are all Magnus’ fault. If it weren’t because of him, you’re not here. So blame him not me,” he replied.

My eyes widened. “W-what—”

“Do you think he would save you when you were just a mere human? Damn, my mark is on you, Holly. Which means you’re mine now.”

“Why is it his fault?”

“That night, do you remember why you came by the woods?” he asked.

My determination suddenly subsided, looking at how confident he was, I felt so weak. I remember that night…

“Magnus wanted you to visit him, right? I was out of myself because he took my bride, and we were fighting. Why did he call you when he knows that a Lycan might kill you?”

I clenched my fists upon hearing those. Alpha Magnus took his bride? Ever since, Alpha Magnus was really fond of me. It’s just that I felt that I became more important to him when I was bitten by a Lycan.

Alpha Luther leaned closer to me, then our eyes locked which made my stomach rumble. I didn’t know why but there was something between us, like a connection.

“Look at me, Holly. Do you feel the connection? The bond between us? That’s the effect of my mark. That night, you became my mate. Sex slave? We will not mate unless you want.”

After that, he quickly left. Leaving me there stunned and surprised by all of the things that he said.

THE next day, I woke up at the same hour as Cecilia told me to. Even though I know that today, Luther will introduce me to the councils that I am going to be his wife, I tried my best to think that it won’t happen.

Wearing a maid uniform, I was busy scrubbing the tile floor of the bathroom when someone almost surprised me.

I lifted up my head to see who was it, only to be surprised by a man wearing a business suit.

“Who are you?” I asked.

“You’re Holly Miller?” he asked.

“Y-yes…”

He looked more kind than Alpha Luther but knowing that he is a werewolf or a Lycan, he still feared me.

“I am Rowan, the Beta of East Verlice Pack,” he replied.

I quickly stood up and bowed next to him.

“I apologize, I didn’t know you are the Beta.”

“Luther told me that you’re rude. I think he was just overreacting…” he replied. “Come with me, he was so mad looking for you around the mansion. Why are you scrubbing the floor tile?”

“This is my job, he said I am his slave.”

He shook his head and then turned his back to me. I quickly washed off my hands before following him. I didn’t know how mad Alpha Luther was… but it isn’t that much.

Not long after, Beta Rowan stopped in the hall. Alpha was looking at me angrily but what I noticed was the furniture around him. There are broken vases, and chairs that I think he threw out of anger.

“Where the hell have you been?” he asked with gritted teeth. “I told you to get ready, how dare you ignore my order?!”

I bowed my head as my chest started to thump faster. “I’m sorry, Alpha. I was confused about whether I should be your slave or your soon-to-be wife,” I replied.

“You will be my wife. I will introduce you to the council later after you changed your fucking uniform. But after that, continue scrubbing the damn tile floor of that fucking bathroom since you’ve started it,” he snorted and then looked at Cecilia. “Change her clothes quickly, we run out of time because of her recklessness.”

I bite my lower lip and then sighed the moment Cecilia took me away from there. I feel awfully sad knowing that what was happening right now is real.

While they were busy changing my clothes and putting on makeup on my face, I couldn’t help but reminisce about everything that happened just three days ago. Three days ago, I was just busy teaching my students… I was still busy laughing with Lola. How is she? Is she crying after the news that I didn’t come to the wedding anniversary of Alpha Magnus and Luna Alice?

“We’re done, Miss Holly.”

I looked up at the mirror and see how beautiful I was. Although I looked beautiful, I couldn’t smile and be happy knowing where I will go right now…

Cecilia gently patted my shoulder and then smiled. “Alpha is a good man. He was just blinded by anger and loneliness. I hope you’ll be able to see that soon.”

I didn’t respond to what she said. Because really, no matter how lonely and mad he is, he shouldn’t involve anyone in his life without any valid reason… it’s sick.

Right when I turned my head to the door, I saw him narrowing over the doorway. Scanning me from head to toe and then back to see my face.

“Come on, we’re going to be late.” He said without even complimenting how beautiful I was in this wonderful gown.
