Chapter Five: Safest Place.

I WAS so nervous while we were in an expensive car, on the way to the Town Hall. I didn’t know if it was because Alpha Luther was sitting beside me or was it because I’m afraid of what the councils will say once they see me.

“Every council in Verlice especially the Royal Council will come today. You should act like we’re in love,” he said.

“Why should I do that? We’re not really in love, you forced me into this—”

“I’ll rip off your neck in front of them if you act recklessly. I know that you know I can do that,” he replied.

I clenched my fists and turned my attention outside the car instead of looking at him. Just by imagining what will happen today, I’m getting anxious.

It’s hard to imagine that I will be married to this kind of Lycan and he wasn’t just a simple Lycan, but also an Alpha.

“Magnus and Alice will be there.”

My eyes widened and turned my head to see him looking straight to the driver.

“I thought…”

I bite my lower lip to stop myself from saying whatever that’s in my mind. I remembered what Cecilia told me the other night. That Luna Alice’s name was banned inside his mansion. But now, he mentioned it… And if they were there… Could they be able to help me get away from Alpha Luther?

“If you’re thinking that they will help you run away from me, you’ll just be disappointed. They won’t help you.”

“What do you mean? Alpha Magnus cherishes me a lot! He will help me.”

Alpha Luther laughed devilishly and then turned his head to me. “No, Holly. Even though he cherish you a lot, he knows that you, being with me is the right thing to do.”

To be honest, I was confused. I didn’t know what was happening. Was this connected to what Alpha Magnus will tell me on the night of their wedding anniversary?

Does Lola right? That I will be engaged to an Alpha… and that Alpha was Luther?

Instead of arguing with Alpha Luther, I pressed my lips and remained silent. Whatever it is, I have to know everything today. I will make sure to ask Alpha Magnus!

On the Town Hall, just as expected, we came late. The car door opened for Alpha Luther, it was the driver. When I was about to get out on my own, I was surprised when he held his hand to me.

I was about to decline his hand but his brow arched, like he was threatening me to do what he wanted.

I have no choice but to take his hand and let him assist me. His hands were warm, while mine was cold and wet.

“You’re tensed. Don’t act recklessly Holly. Make sure you do what I want you to do or you know what will happen,” he threatened.

Swallowing the lump on my throat, I nodded and stand proudly beside him although my heart is racing so fast.

Right when we entered the Town Hall, everyone are sulking. And as expected, Alpha Magnus and Luna Alice was there, sitting on the other side of the long table.

I saw how Alpha Magnus’ eyes widened as well as his wife who was now talking to the Alpha. I knew by then that they didn’t know I was here.

The anger in the eyes of the councils changed with curiosity. Murmurs filled the whole town hall, curious on who I was.

“Good morning everyone, I apologize for being late,” Alpha Luther said and then bowed.

I did what he also did to at least avoid their gazes that’s weakening my legs.

“Who is she?” One of the Alpha asked. He is the Alpha of South, Alpha Arthuro.

Only the Alpha of the North Verlice Pack is not invited in the meeting. It has been twenty-three years since North Alpha killed East’s Alpha with the reason that still unknown until now.

“She’s my fiancee, Holly Miller,” he replied.

Everyone gasped at his sudden annoucement. That’s exactly my reaction when he told me that he will introduce me as his soon-to-be wife. Who wouldn’t be shock?

“Your fiancee? We didn’t hear that you’ve met another mate or a girlfriend. Don’t rush a decision, Luther.”

A woman with long blondee hair said. I think she’s one of a higher official here in East Verlice.

“This is so sudden, and… she’s…” Alpha Arthuro sniffled and his eyes narrowed. “She’s a half—”

“Father, if it’s what Alpha Luther wants, I think we should let him…” Alpha Magnus stopped him

“Let him? I care for him just like my son! He should marry someone who’s worthy.”

I felt like my heart sank when Alpha Magnus sided Alpha Luther. Does that mean that Alpha Luther said was true? That he will just let me be with this ruthless Alpha?

Biting my lower-lips, I lowered my head to avoid their gazes. Everyone is looking at me and judging me based on my look and who I was. I am just a mere human…

The meeting went well. I didn’t exactly know what it was about but the fact that the meeting started with a surprise from the East’s Alpha that he was going to get married, the tension didn’t last until the end of the meeting.

“Meeting adjourned,” Alpha Luther said.

Everyone stood up but Alpha Magnus and Luna Alice remained in their seats. To my hope that they might change their minds.

“Alpha…” I slowly called him.

His eyes were full of guilt, he turned his head to Alpha Luther who was now walking towards me.

“Why did you take her without even telling me?” Alpha Magnus asked in gritted teeth.

The tension between them was way stronger than earlier. Seeing Alpha Magnus’ reaction, he was mad.

“Did you forget what you did a year ago?” Alpha Luther scoffed. “You abducted my bride.”

“This is not the same case, Luther! You should’ve at least inform me! We’ve been looking for her for three days!”

An evil laugh echoed around the hall which made me feel terrified. His hands touched my shoulder as he slowly lowered his head to out his chin on it.

“You know that the safest place for her right now is with me. So why are you getting mad?”
