Chapter 12.

AMBERS’S POV

I woke up from my short slumber and brushed my sleepy eyes. “Who is at the door?”

“It’s Grace, your highness,” Grace replied from behind the door.

Why is she here again? Doesn’t she know that this is the time for a nap? I never called her or sent her on an errand. It would be rude for me not to let her in after knocking, I thought.

“Come in, Grace,” I permitted her.

Grace gently opened the door and walked in. “Sorry to disturb you, your highness, but I overheard your dialogue with the alpha and clearly, he instructed that you must be present during tonight’s dinner—”

“Yes yes, I know that,” I yawned as I wiped my face one more time.

“Yes, you’re aware. But I must tell you, my lady, you have just twenty minutes before dinner begins,” Grace added.

Grace’s words came at me like they were arrows that had been shot at me that were penetrating through all parts of my skin.

“Come again?” I had to ask to be quite sure I heard what she said.

“My lady, you have only nineteen minute
