Chapter 1

Roberta's POV:

Happiness, a never attaining illusion that I had deceived myself into thinking I had finally attained. But such was never the tale of the pack reject.

How did I get here where all I can do is watch my mate be happy in the arms of my cousin with everyone applauding them.

Even the room that I was given, the first I ever owned, was being turned inside out as Charlotte stood guard for her minions to tear everything apart.

But when a maid grabbed my most prized possession and I tried to rescue it, a hot slap was delivered and I could do nothing but take the hits from the one I once called my sister.

The hits stopped and I heard Charlotte screaming at someone to get the f*** out. Whoever this stranger was, he didn't say anything to her but placed a hand on my face. Instant relief flooded my system.

“I said, who the hell are you and what right do you have to interfere in my affairs?!" Charlotte screamed at the man whose presence screamed power. I did not know who this man was but I knew it was best not to mess with him.

The man finally stood up from where he was crouched in front of my fallen body. Every part of my body hurts. Not to mention that I haven't been allowed to eat anything that was prepared in the palace.

Charlotte's order. 

The royal family who if I was being honest only tolerated my presence did nothing to stop her. And she forbade me from leaving the pack house. Until she did this, that is.

“Your tongue seems to want an escape from you, perhaps it is your head I should take for a souvenir?" The strange man said to Charlotte who choked on air in apparent shock at the audacity of his words.

I looked around to see that the maids were gone and then Charlotte stormed out in anger.

I had completely forgotten that I was in the company of the strange man until he spoke to me.

“Are you alright? Can you stand?" The man said to me and I tried to get up, the starvation from the past few days was catching up with me with speed.

I felt warm hands wrap under my knees and back, then I was lifted and placed on a seat that managed to survive Charlotte and her cohorts.

There was commotion outside the door which opened to reveal a very irritated Charlotte and Adrian Elijah, my moon blessed, in tow with her. The sight of the both of them together still tore at my heart.

The most unexpected thing happened next, Elijah turned on Charlotte and slapped her hard. So hard that she fell to the floor.

“My sincerest apologies, Alpha Narcisse. Please forgive her impudence and disrespect. I will ensure that she is properly punished for this." Elijah said to the strange man whose eyes flashed dangerously before he turned to look at me.

“You are dismissed. Take her with you if you want to keep her alive." The man, Alpha Narcisse said to Elijah without so much as turning in his direction.

Elijah bowed deeply before roughly pulling Charlotte to her feet and walking away.

I tried to rise to my feet because my Elijah was leaving but a wave of dizziness ruined the plan as I fell backwards. I never made an impact as I was caught by a strong arm around my waist. The other arm cradled my face.

“This won't do." The man I have come to label as Alpha Narcisse, the strongest Alpha in this region, said before I closed my eyes and welcomed darkness.

The next time I woke up I was in a dimly lit room on a very comfortable bed. It felt like clouds, but there was an irritation on my arm so I moved to take it away. A hand held mine down firmly.

“You better not rip out your IV, you reject! It's bad enough that you were given a VIP room in the hospital!” The lady who I later understood was a nurse said to me with as much venom as she could deliver in a muted voice.

The door opened at that moment and the nurse stood straight, her facial expression doing a complete three sixty as she wrote on the pad she had with her.

" Your entire pack irritates me, Adrian." The man from earlier, alpha Narcisse said to our alpha who has his head bent to him. The nurse immediately turned white in fear.

“Apologies, Alpha Narcisse, I will have her fired immediately and another nurse will be assigned to her." Alpha Sebastian said to Alpha Narcisse who was yet to take his eyes off the nurse, as though he was contemplating if she was worth his time.

" There is no need, I'm taking her with me. I'm sure she's of no use to your pack since your son was dumb enough to toss her out for another.” Alpha Narcisse said to Alpha Sebastian and my eyes widened when his words sank in.

He wanted to take me, a rejected omega wolf with him?

That can't be. This pack was my home, if they didn't want me here how then would I fare with strangers that mostly look like me.

" As you wish, Alpha Narcisse. I will have the rest of her things packed and ready for your return trip.” Alpha Sebastian responded without wasting time. Tears filled my eyes, the machines suddenly began to beep loudly, drawing the attention of the two Alphas.

Alpha Sebastian glared at me hotly while Alpha Narcisse had a blank expression on his face.

No, they shouldn't throw me out like this! I will behave, I swear!

I felt the tears that filled my eyes run down my cheeks before a team of doctors rushed into the room.

The two Alphas watched as they fretted over me, one was bored and the other was inexpressive.

“Your doctors’ response time was too prolonged. Nothing has impressed me since I came here.” Alpha Narcisse said to Alpha Sebastian.

What the actual fuck was he talking about right now?
