CHAPTER 56

“You didn’t have to eat all that was given to me, you know?” I said as we walked down the passageway to our room.

“You said you couldn’t eat anymore,” he replied, falling into step next to me. “I did what I had to do—to help you eat.”

“How charming,” I murmured, smiling at him.

He shrugged, tossing the apple into the air and catching it. “I did what I had to do. And weren’t you the one who said we had to share a room?” he questioned.

I nodded. “Do we have a choice?”

I knew he would have suggested separate rooms, but without asking, his mom had given us one.

“I guess we don't,” he replied.

Reaching the room, I hesitated to open the door. Mrs. Vinters had told me the door was white compared to the other doors in the house and it was the largest too.

I guess they took giving us the best room seriously. However, I wondered what the decoration might be like inside.

“Are you going to run away?” Tedros questioned, pulling me out of my thoughts.

“Of course not,” I replied.
