Drake POV
We walked as far as we had to get to the where the SUVs were waiting. I offered multiple times to carry Maddie, but she refused, thanking me just the same. Her feet were bare; Jasmine had offered to give her shoes to Maddie but again Maddie declined. She was being incredibly strong for everything she had been through.
We all walked in silence. I desperately wanted to question her about her experiences but didn’t want to do so in front of everyone. She let me hold her hand, which I did the entire time. Even when I went to help her inside the SUV, I helped her and nudged her over, so I didn’t lose contact with her. Her hand had warmed up considerably since I was holding it, I just wanted to get her home and to the Pack hospital. Having no idea what she endured, she needed to

Drake POV As we move towards the bathroom, Maddie starts stripping off her clothes. She must have thrown her undergarments out because she was bare beneath the scrubs. As wolves we are used to being naked and we should be comfortable in our own skin. But this was the first time we would see each other naked. She was beautiful. The cuts and bruises pissed me off. Knowing what she had endured, and that Marsha had had a hand in it kept bringing my wolf to the front in anger. I was still thrown off with Maddie’s scent not being there. It was making my wolf Ben feel weird as well. I would mind-link the doctor after to ask if anything came up in the tests around that. I didn’t know how long it would take for her scent to return. I hoped it wouldn’t be long, I had missed her scent while sh
Drake POV As soon as we finished eating Maddie fell fast asleep. She asked me to stay. This is the first time I have had her in my arms for the night. I want to say it was perfect, but missing her scent threw me off. Some of it lingered from showering with her bodywash but it wasn’t the same. Having her in my arms was perfect I reminded myself, I just hoped her scent and her wolf would return. We still had not talked about her experiences. I was going to tackle that this morning before I dealt with Marsha. My Alpha had mind-linked me asking what I wanted to do. Kill her was the only option, that I could see. But I needed to know who she was working with, and why she gave Maddie up so easily. As Maddie s
Drake POV The ride over to Kate’s Pack was tense. I could feel the anger rolling off Maddie as we drove. She had been ready when I got back to our suite; however, she hasn’t spoken to me since I went to get her aside from yes or no replies. I knew she was hurt with the answers she received but I couldn’t change my Alpha’s mind and I agreed with him. We needed more information. My Alpha had put a warrior on to watch her parents for the short-term. Not that we thought anything would happen, but we wanted to be cautious. They were Pack members and potentially threatened so we would treat them like any other Pack members. “Maddie, we haven’t eaten yet today. I am stopping at a diner for something to eat,” I say to her. She sighs and nods her head. Well, this should be a fun meal,
Drake POV “Maddie, what the hell was that?” I asked pulling her back away from Kate as she tries to swing her foot to kick her in the stomach. Kate was quickly back up on her feet and stepped back avoiding Maddie’s leg. Wiping blood from her lip, Kate looks at Maddie coldly, “Make no mistake Maddie, you get one free one – after that I fight back,” Kate says. Maddie smirks at Kate as she continues dabbing at the blood on her lip. “Now did you both come here to talk or to fight?” she asks us. As she’s standing there her Alpha comes running over to see if everything was alright. “I’m fine Reid but perhaps you can join us for our meeting?” she suggests. I don’t think she had planned for Reid to participate but seeing Maddie’s hostility changed her mind. &
Drake POV “How long were you going to let me look like a fool?” Maddie asks me. I look at this woman in front of me. I can see her anger and hurt, but I have no idea how to help her. “Maddie, you don’t look like a fool,” I start to say as she huffs. She’s standing off by the wall now and I cannot reach her. I stand to move toward her, but she starts to move clearly indicating there is a line in the sand where she doesn’t want me to cross. “I’m the fool. I should have told you sooner, and I most definitely didn’t want you to find out from someone else,” I assure her. She looks at me with contempt. “I didn’t feel we were close enough to have that conversation,” I say to her. “And Kate is right, it was so long ago, it wasn’t a big deal,” I finish.
Kate POV I would have liked to have spoken to Colby before meeting with Reid’s and my fathers; however, I hadn’t heard from him, and I refused to call him again. I could only hope he had seen through Josey’s tricks, and he was fixing things before he called me. As I entered the conference room, I saw Alpha Reid sitting there with his father beside him, former Beta Ralph Thompson. As I sat down, we waited for my father to make his grand entrance. Not surprising me that he was late as he was reluctant to even have this conversation. At least Beta Ralph was prepared to meet us somewhere in the middle. Finally hearing footsteps come closer in the hallway, my father finally graces us with his presence. Former Alpha Jackson, my fath
Kate POV “Colby?” I say in shock. I look at his face; he looks haggard and tired. Moving forward slowly I look at him as he stares back at me. “When are you coming home, Kate?” he asks me. I move forward jumping into his arms wrapping my legs around his waist. He pulls me in tightly to his body, just hugging me. His face is in my neck where my marking spot is. “I’m sorry Kate. Sorry for being such an idiot. I can’t live without you. We need to figure things out,” he says, which sounds muffled as he is still wrapped up in my neck smelling me. I chuckle as it tickles and then moan softly as he swipes his tongue over my marking spot. He knows that always makes me come undone. Moving out o
Kate POV “Are you joking?” I ask him as I continue to look at him from the other side of the tub. “I don’t understand this obsession with Josey, but if she bothers you that much, I’ll look at placing her someplace else when we get back to the Silver Crescent Pack,” he says. I feel like he’s trying to pacify me, but frankly I’ll take it for the short-term. “Did Amelie ever say anything about why she didn’t want Josey around?” I ask Colby. “Kate, Amelie is a little girl with an over-active imagination, she never said anything else, and I never pushed her on it,” he replies. “She was right about your ex-girlfriend,” I remind him. Before I met Colby, his ex-girlfriend Jessica was jealous that he had stopped dating her when we found each other. She scared Amelie into being afraid of me. Amelie final
