"Are you enjoying yourself?" He asks snapping me out of my train of thought.

I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding gulping my water before nodding with a slight smile.

"Tell me more about yourself Lyra." He adds.

I know he was trying to pick up conversation and I want to help by giving lag responses.

"There's nothing much to say really. I've been living with my uncle and aunt all my life. I didn't grow to know my parents, I lost them at a very tender age and the only memory I have of them is," I pulled out a locket from my neck showing it.

I saw a mix of piety in his eyes to which I shrugged.

"I'm sorry about that," He says.

I nod, "It's fine. It's not your fault."

"You're very beautiful Lyra, you know that right?" He suddenly says cutting me off guard.

My cheeks swelled up his words getting to me.

The soft glow of the candles and the gentle hum of the restaurant's ambiance did little to ease the tension between us.
