111: Together

Elaine’s POV

As the afternoon sun filtered through the kitchen windows, I busied myself with preparing a meal, my thoughts wandering to Killian.

The aroma of sizzling vegetables and simmering sauces filled the air, a comforting distraction from the anxiety gnawing at my insides. I had expected him to be back within thirty minutes, but two hours had passed, and there was still no sign of him.

I glanced at the clock for the umpteenth time, my worry escalating with each passing minute. With no phone to reach him, I was left in a state of restless anticipation. I finished plating the food, but my appetite was nonexistent. The thought of Killian out there, possibly in danger, gnawed at me.

Unable to sit still, I began pacing the kitchen, my mind racing with scenarios, each more dire than the last. I spoke to my wolf, seeking solace and reassurance.

"Do you think he's okay?" I asked, my voice a whisper in the empty kitchen.

“I'm worried too,” my wolf responded, her voice a soothing presen
