Chapter Two

I woke up with a slight ache at the side of my waist which I knew was due to my long journey yesterday, and I stretched my hands widely across the bed before bending at my side once again. I knew it was time to wake up but I was too lazy getting up from the comfort of my bed.

I covered my body well with the duvet, which had slipped off my body while I was sleeping, and I closed my eyes.

Early morning sun was peeping in through the window but I ignored it and continued to seek the sleep that I knew had left my eyes.

I heard my phone beep, which I had kept somewhere on the bed. I stretched my left hand as I searched for it with my eyes still closed.

When I finally got it, it stopped ringing and I sighed happily. Whoever it was that called should have known it was still early to wake someone up, I thought.

It started ringing again, this time I picked it up on the first ring and had it on my ear. There was a buzz on the caller's end, and I couldn't make out what he was trying to say. I was about to end the call when a frightened voice came through.

Maria.

" Hello, big sis. Did something happen?" I heard her say, which was slightly muffled by her sniffing. " You didn't pick up when I called the first time, is everything alright?"

I sat up, my pillow to my chest and I rubbed my face to clear my vision.

" Yes, everything is alright. I'm sorry I missed your call. I had actually woken up then." I explained, my fingers going to rub my eyes. I knew I had to stop, else it would be so painful but I couldn't, enjoying the sensation at the moment.

" Oh, I forgot. I shouldn't have called you by this time, I forgot we have different time zones now. I'm still propped up on my bed watching Harry Potter. Mom has come in twice to scold me for getting some sleep. But you know me, I don't listen to anyone other than you. '' She said, her laugh echoing in the small room I rented.

I listened to her, and I tried imagining what Mom would do if she heard her right now. She was definitely impossible, and she was right. The only person she ever listened to was me.

" I think you have to obey Mom, you know. It's late over there, 1 am if I'm not wrong. Little pubs like you are already dozing off. And you better start listening to Mom and Dad. " I scolded her, and I imagined the growl on her face now.

" I know, no need to remind me. I only called to check on you, thinking you would be watching your favorite program or unpacking. "

I sighed, my right hand rubbing my temple.

" How could I? I don't think I'm even going to unpack today. I feel so tired from my journey, and I am surprised I woke up this early. " I told her, and I heard her curse under her breath.

" You are using the F-word ag... " I couldn't finish my sentence as I heard the door slam quietly.

Gosh, she is in trouble.

Mother!

" Maria, put the phone on the loud speaker now. I want her to hear my voice. " I said, as I didn't want Mum shouting on her.

" Okay. " She muttered and did exactly asI asked her to. I heard footsteps from her end and I kept wondering who it belonged to. I knew Mom wasn't going to beat her but she was going to scream and wake Dad up.

" Good evening Mom. " I greeted, as I tried to make my voice less suspicious. Having her hear my voice would make her think that Maria stayed up to talk to me. That was the plan.

" Oh, is that you Anne? " She questioned, and I knew even without being there that a smile was on her face.

" Yes Mom, it's Anne." I answered.

" We will discuss it in the morning, dear. And you should have asked Maria to go to sleep. It's 1 am in the morning and she will be going to college tomorrow. She needs to be there on time." Mom commented, and I heard Maria growl in the background. She always hated school, but no one listened to her pleas to stay back at home.

Dad wanted her to be a doctor and live a normal life as human but she was against it. She hungered for her own mate and I knew how slightly the possibility was since she wanted a werewolf for a mate. She claimed humans were too weak and I totally agreed for being human myself, I knew I was weaker than her.

" I forgot about that Mother. But she will be fine, and I need to catch some more sleep myself, before it breaks fully into a day." I said, and threw the pillow aside before going into the convenience.

" It's alright dear. We will talk more when you are free, make sure to find something to eat." Mom said, and I heard from the movements made that Maria wanted her cell phone back.

" Yes, I will, Mom. Sleep tight." I said, before giving her an air kiss. I flushed the toilet clean before going back to the room.

" Is she gone?" I inquired, when I heard Maria heave a sigh of relief.

" Yes, she is. Thank goodness you were able to calm her down, else she'd have had me write down all the words in chapter 12 of Isaiah." She sighed and I just laughed. It was so true about Mom. She always made us write down chapters anytime we did something to annoy her. Maria and I hated it but Dad never came to our rescue.

" At least I have escaped that for now. Living a spinster's life is really enjoyable." I blurted, a small laugh escaping my mouth.

" That is true." She sniveled, and my laughter increased. " I wish I were you."

" Be careful what you wish for dear." I reprimanded her. " You may never be able to step back from it. "

" Alright, alright. I surrender and I take back my words. "

" Better. " And I heard her laugh.

" And about your duty there, how do you plan on seducing Alpha Leo? " She said, her voice serious now.

I paused for a moment, before sliding back into the cover of my bed.

" I don't know yet. I haven't thought of a plan yet. But right now I have to go back to sleep, and you should do the same as well. Else, I won't save you the next time Mom catches you." I warned, as I let out a yawn.

" Oh, it's fine. We can talk some other time." She said, her voice light.

" No, call me when you get back from school. I need the full gist of your first day in college."

" Sure, I will. Good night."

" Sweet dreams baby sis, I love you." I said into the phone, my heart warming up to her. I was happy that the moon goddess had given me a sister like her, one as lovely as she was.

" I love you too. " She said, before ending the call.

I threw my cellphone on the bed and laid my head on the bed. A smile on her face, I let my eyes drift off to sleep.

I made my way to section C which collected what I wanted. I was at the shopping mall trying to get provisions for my breakfast. It was already 10:35 and I hadn't eaten breakfast. I had slept since Maria ended the call, and my tummy growled from neglect.

It was the snack I had last on the plane that I still carried, and the worms in my tummy weren't sparing me.

I moved my trolley forward, stacking in whatever my hands caught on. Biscuits, Milk, Milo, Bread, hotdogs were flying in. I moved my trolley towards another section as I took packets of indomie and spaghetti from where they were kept to join their family. They needed some bonding before I moved each of them to their rooms.

I laughed at my own thinking.

Just then, a body bumped into me and I looked up into a handsome face. He was dressed in a local attire and I knew immediately that he was human. His looks, his focus and definitely his breath spoke of humans.

I had lived a long time with Dad and Maria to notice how a werewolf was to look like. They were meant to look intimidating but he looked somehow off.

" I'm sorry beautiful lady." The compliment I heard was genuine and I gave him a smile before moving out of the way, not like I was actually obstructing.

" It's alright, you are definitely not the only one at fault here." I told him, flashing him a smile.

He smiled, and I noticed a beautiful set of teeth that looked like they belonged to a baby.

" You are just saying that." He commented, his smile turning into a laugh.

I felt a little uneasy, even though he was handsome but I didn't like talking to a stranger. A stranger who had actually bumped into me. I knew it was silly to let my thoughts tread on that part, but I couldn't help it. After all, I had just arrived from the States, less than 24 hour to a country I had never visited.

" No, I was not. But I'm fine now." I said, bringing my left hand forward to check the time. I always did that anytime I needed to ward someone off, but it didn't seem to bother him and he looked amused.

" I know you could spare some time for me to get your name. You are probably trying to chase me away." He ranted on and I grew so tired of him. " What's the name?"

" Lol, I don't think so. I actually have a busy day and I have to be on my way." I corrected, deliberately ignoring his last question.

I pushed the cart forward, my hands reacting to its heaviness. I hadn't realized just how much I had packed until then.

" Do you need help?" He offered, but I shook my head while continuing pushing the cart.

" What a strong head!" He said, and I laughed in my mind. He hadn't seen anything yet.

He followed me and I just ignored him. A lot of women would have been thrilled to have a handsome man like him trailing after them but I wasn't. Not in the least.

We got to the counter in silence and I noticed his eyes on me all along. I pushed the trolley closer for the girl on the seat to measure what I took, and she told me the amount after she was through.

As I had put my hand inside my hand bag to bring out some cash, the stranger took out his credit card and gave it to the lady.

I looked at him in anger, almost panicking. I never asked for his help but he was still bent on helping me. But I kept my cool and waited till we left the mall.

He smirked at me after paying for my bills and I folded my fist at my side to show him that I wasn't grateful. But that made him chuckle and I wondered what was amusing him.

We walked out of the mall with the things I had bought and I stayed clear from the entrance before squaring my face at him.

He smiled, his dimples revealing now. What could have made many women blush didn't actually turn me on.

" What is so funny that you have been laughing all these while?"
