Chapter Six

Dusk had started to form by the time I left the library. I learnt a lot from the book. It did not say anything about Alpha Leo's pack but I learnt a lot about werewolves than I already knew from having a werewolf father and sister.

It had enlightened more about the rules of werewolves, especially their alpha's who had the most title in the pack.From the book, I learnt how to stay alive in the pack by abiding the alpha's rules.

But I still needed to find ways to get information about the Alpha. How his temperament works, and whether or not he liked to have women around him.

When I got to my street, just a stone throw from my apartment, I saw two ladies fighting. One of them looked like my mate or a year older and the other one was mature. They were scratching their nails on each other's bodies, and from the way they kept their mouths, I knew they were growling at one another.

No one seemed interested in separately them, neither were they interested in knowing what caused their fight. And they kept on fighting without any shame.

When I got near enough, I heard one of them speaking. She had red hair and it was so tattered probably due to the flights. Her bracelet hung loose to her wrist and her top was revealing too much flesh of her mounds. And I felt an urge to go cover her up. But I cautioned myself because it was none of my business.

"Stay away from Alpha Leo. He only belongs to me." She snarled, her hands still making a girl at the other girls face.

I shook my head having heard the reason for their fight. They were fighting for the Alpha and I wondered how he looked. Because they seemed pretty smitten by him.

"The Alpha is mine." The one with brown curly hair retorted, her arms were already bruised but luckily for her, she wore a hard dress that did not stand a chance of getting torn by her rival.

"He is mine, for I happened to be the head concubine of Alpha Leo. You all came along and snatched him away from me." The red head hissed, before she kicked the other girl hard on the tummy.

She fell down hard on the ground, and a gasp escaped her mouth. She moved her right hand to her waist as she whimpered in fear. Her eyes started to mist while the other girl threw her dagger eyes on her.

"That's it." The one on the floor cried out, and she recoiled in pain and she let her butt hit the floor one more time. "You may be his first concubine or the first woman he had been with, but I happen to be the one he cherished the most."

The red head's face grew furious the more and she began to kick her harder. And I felt yet again the urge to step in, but this time it was to beat the red head into a pulp.

But I didn't, I was still waiting to hear information concerning the Alpha. Until then, I'd endure watching them fight.

Suddenly, the one who was on the floor overpowered the red head girl. She was going on top of her and was hitting her everywhere. Her eyes, her nose and her mouth.

Then a guy came along, whose swiftness told me he was a shifter. Shifters always moved differently from the rest of the wolves. Dad too was a shifter and one of the advantages they had was the ability to heal faster than the normal wolves.

He shoved the girl on top to the ground and stood between them. Immediately they saw him, they recoiled and stared speechlessly at him.

"What happened here?" He demanded in a deep voice, and I always knew when I heard the voice of authority. This one had it.

He couldn't be the Alpha, no.

"Beta." The brown head girl began and I swallowed. I heaved a sigh, do one moment I was afraid of meeting with him like this.

In a place like this.

"It was Elivinia who started the first. She wants me to steer clear from the Alpha but I refused. Alpha Leo cherish me more than the rest of them."

I looked at the Beta, waiting to hear what he would say to that. Somehow, hearing from the girl, I felt a little uneasy and I did not know why.

"Is this true?" He said, his eyes turning to Elivinia. I noticed he was trying to control his temper, and from the position he held as the Alpha's Beta, I knew he was able to pass out punishment to the pack members. But I wasn't so sure about these women, since they shared bed with their Alpha.

She kept mute and he grew more furious.

"You all are just the Alpha's little Muffins. He will get rid of you all once he found his mate." He scoffed through gritted teeth.

"The Alpha would be crossing this route around four and your punishments would be to stand here till that time."

Good.

It seemed the moon goddess was in my favor this evening. Now I have gotten what I wanted...

They cried and he paid no heed to them.

His eyes met mine and I squirmed under them. I knew perhaps he was wondering what I was standing there for. I hadn't separated them when they were fighting, but I had just stood there, gawking at like a tiny lizard.

I moved back, not removing my eyes from him. And from the corners of my eyes, I felt the ladies eyes on me. But I still managed to keep my head high because I was more beautiful than they were.

He looked up and his eyes met mine and i squirmed under them. I knew perhaps he was wondering what I was standing there doing. I hadn't separated them when the two were fighting, and I simply gawked at them like a tiny lizard.

"You heard everything?" I heard the accusation in his voice and the way he said it made it more like a statement than a question.

I raised an eyebrow at him, pretending not to understand anything.

I was human of course, and not every woman understood the werewolves. But Mom understood Dad and I felt a surge of pride.

"No, no. I had just arrived." I lied, hoping they would buy it. "I only caught on Alpha and Mate. Do they exist?"

The ladies looked at me with untrustworthy eyes but I didn't mind them. Because right now, the lie was necessary.

If only they knew who I was.

The Beta shook his head and I smiled. I lifted my hands as if to surrender before nodding my head.

I walked away with the piece of information I had learnt. The Alpha was crossing the same route by four. With that information, I walked away to my apartment.

Rubbing the last dirt on my face, I smeared it from my forehead to my jaw, I took my appearance in front of the mirror. I had worn a peasants clothing in preparation to the Alpha's arrival. I had picked a black skirt which perfectly showed by clothes and at the same time looked like a beggars'.

I applied my deodorant which I had read to be able to provoke sensual arousal in every male, and I closed my eyes before inhaling deeply.

It was nearly time and I felt a little excited, and I walked out of the room before locking the door.

Standing on the road, I waited patiently for the Alpha to drive past. My face was gloomy and I knew two things were bound to happen. Either the Alpha would take me out of pity or he would take me in because of how sexy I looked.

Ten minutes later, a car pulled out and a man got down from it. For a moment I was confused. I didn't know if I was looking at a fairy prince or a man. He was very handsome, more like an angel from the heavens. He was athletic and walked in perfect strides.

With someone like him with me, I was sure of being protected He's eyes were a darker shade of green and I felt myself swooning. He had blond hair that was long enough to be plaited.

He had on a pair of sweatpants and a baseball cap on. Somehow, the casual clothes did not put him out but he looked rather eatable.

I noticed he seemed to be sniffing the air and I wondered what was wrong. I sniffed myself to see if it was coming from me but I completely smelt alright.

And the air too.

My legs began to wobble when he started approaching me and it was like I was in a trance when I heard the word Mate.
