Fiona’s POV

The endless night stretched before us, weighed down by the shadows of uncertainty and the ominous threats we faced. Despite our exhaustion, neither Quinton nor I could find respite. The encounter with the cloaked figure had left us on edge, and the cryptic message they delivered lingered in our minds.

Quinton sat across from me, his gaze fixed on the table strewn with ancient texts and maps. The dim light of the lamp cast flickering shadows, adding to the atmosphere of unease. I watched him, noting the strain etched into his features. He ran a hand through his hair, a gesture that had become all too familiar.

“Are you okay?” I asked, breaking the silence that had settled between us.
