Quinton's POV

The moon hung high in the sky, casting pale light over the clearing as I paced back and forth. My wolf was restless, and I could feel its growl vibrating in my chest. There was something out there, watching, waiting. The smell of blood still clung to the air, even though we’d left the scene hours ago.

Fiona was inside, sitting by the window with a distant look in her eyes. She hadn’t said much after I told her about what we found. I didn’t blame her—there was only so much anyone could take before the weight of everything became too much. The pressure was building. And it wasn’t just coming from the outside threats. It was the prophecy, her powers, my inability to protect her the way I should. It all felt like a noose tightening around us both.

I stopped in my tracks when I heard footsteps behind me. Turning, I saw Cal approaching, his face grim. "Any news?" I asked.
