Alex didn’t speak much afterwards. He needed to think things through. Luna let him. She decided to assimilate with the pack first before telling him what his future holds.
Sab awkwardly called her as Little Moon. She assured her it’s fine to call her that.
“Little Moon, do you want to look around the pack with me? Alex would probably be busy catching up with what went on while he’s away to rescue you. He may not have the time for a few days.”
Luna nodded in understanding, “I see. Won’t I trouble you, though? You must be busy as well.”
“Not as busy as the men. I do get more free time than them. There’s still a couple of hours before lunch, I’m supposed to visit the nursery this morning. Should we go?”
“Yes, that would be great.” Her smile was endearing.
It didn’t take long for Sab to warm up to her. In a way, she could understand the disbelief of people
He was given a short break. An hour of it and he decided to spend it staring at Luna. He sat on the bed, leaning on the headboard and looked at her closely. She’s no doubt the most beautiful person he has ever seen. The way she carries herself is also unique. He’s not sure if it’s confidence or she’s just a naturally calm person. It seemed like the latter. Sometimes, the air of mystery around her causes him discomfort. He doesn’t like not knowing whatever she already knew.As he was contemplating, there’s one thing he has concluded. He couldn’t fully trust her when she’s clearly withholding information. A part of his mind reminded him that she claimed she couldn’t divulge things when the timing isn’t right. He sighed. Should he believe that? Should he try pushing her to tell him? Just thinking of doing so, he somehow saw a disappointed image of her in his head. It was similar to when he suggested she kiss someone els
When Alex received the food Luna made, he was a little stunned. The staff has already left before he returned to his senses. He has his own office within the pack house and he was currently alone. He’s poring through several reports, needing his input or opinion on the matter. He was surprised to see the dish was one of his favorites and it did smell delicious, making him feel hungry all of a sudden. He didn’t hesitate to dig in. The taste . . . it was indeed a little different than what his mom usually makes. He shrugged it off as it’s still delicious. Afterwards, he returned to his work.Hours later, his eyes were tired and he decided he’s done for the day. He stretched before getting up. Looking around, he saw a box on the coffee table. Ah, yes. He asked for clothes. Luna would need normal-looking ones if she wants to fit in with the rest of the pack. Her dresses are nice, but they’re impractical to wear for most of the pack’s act
Luna shook her head. She felt a little useless and stupid.“Are you done? Let’s sit and I’ll teach you.” He took the empty box from her hand. She closed the door of the cabinet and followed him. They sat on single chairs. Alex thought the bed might be distracting. She listened attentively as he showed him the coins they use in Snow Mountain, how much each is worth and what things they can purchase. He also tackled how much a person can earn, depending on what tasks they accomplish. It seemed fascinating to her. Afraid she would get greedy, he told her that money isn’t that important. The pack is a pack which helps each member with their needs.“I understand.” Luna wasn’t really keen on accumulating coins. She spent years working on her own to supply her own needs. She never needed any. She figured it’s just a way to exchange goods in a more unified way.“Let’s go down and eat. Would
She’s not supposed to interact closely with everyone, right? That would be absurd and quite a feat. Being familiar with them should be enough. Also, some people prefer minimal interactions. These things she saw in some of her visions and allowed her a glimpse of how people behave. She’s not entirely clueless. But since this is her first day, she was rattled and couldn’t think calmly.“Today? There are a lot of people. I remember a number of names, but I can’t remember how they looked. Most of what I remember are the kids’ names. Sarah. Janine. Hector. Jay. Paul. Miri. Thea. Yuan. I remember their faces. The others, not so much. Kevin. Aldrin. There’s Derick. Zed? Benjamin?”“How about at the meeting with the elders?”“They didn’t introduce themselves, did they? I only know your family and Jeremy.”Alex was stunned. Did they actually forget the introductions? That wasn’t re
The older couple were waiting for them. Clyde informed his father the previous night. Luna was introduced to them and after a short greeting, she presented them the item she has been carrying.Alex didn’t realize it was the same thing Akira brought. Luna has changed the covering into a pretty glittery textile.“This is a gift from me and my wolves. I’m sure you will like it and you might have to use it soon.” She addressed Alice directly.“For me? What is it that I might be using soon?” Alice still looked young, with a few wrinkles near the eyes. Her smile carried a certain warmth.“You guys rarely visit. This is quite a surprise.” She continued to speak as she began to unravel the piece of cloth.“She got up early to cook several dishes. You must stay for lunch.” Conrad informed them, sounding both annoyed and commanding.Alice gasped as the gift was finally revealed.&ldquo
They began to chat. Conrad and Alice asked questions about Luna. They haven’t involved themselves with most pack matters, letting Clyde showcase his leadership. They help out when they’re needed, especially when there’s an attack. They haven’t stopped training. The two of them would still train together on a daily basis, even if it’s just a couple of hours a day. They have nothing much to do anyway.Clyde and Sab updated them on what’s going on in the territory. Alex was asked a few times and shared information.Luna felt relaxed around them.“You didn’t bring Tyler?” Alice finally asked, though she has an inkling on why they didn’t. That boy is still her grandson.“Today is for you to meet Luna. You know that kid. He would’ve caused trouble, one way or another.” Clyde responded with a somewhat defeated expression.“You still can’t control him, huh?” Conrad mocked his own son.Clyde sighed and Alex noticed that Luna suddenly smiled while sipping her tea.He wondered if she knew someth
The thing was, the young man didn’t want to talk about it. Not even when Clyde persisted on getting answers. He can only give his son a set of general advice when he doesn’t know the specifics.“She doesn’t want you?” There was a change in the young man’s expression but Clyde couldn’t tell what it was. He seemed angry and disappointed, but he’s not lashing out. That’s something.“Do you want her?”Tyler’s expression became even more complicated. So, he himself was unsure, huh?“Well, once you’ve decided whether you want her or not, you better start building a good relationship with her. I know you have a sharp tongue. I’ve heard you talking to your friends. You’re crude and nasty things come out of your mouth. If you’ve talked to her like that, I can understand why she doesn’t like you.”Tyler began to look pissed and Clyde could swear
Luna shook her head, “He will have an heir, but he’s not going to be this pack’s alpha. You will.”Tyler’s getting confused, “I don’t get it. How about him? You’re not some crazy shit, are you?”She chuckled at his tone and expression. The sound of her laugh was enchanting. The young man felt like he should believe her. And yet, it seemed so absurd . . .“How about Alex?” Unless he gets a response to this, it would be difficult for him to believe he’s going to be an alpha. Sure, he might have fantasized about it when he was younger but that was it. He kept reminding himself that there’s no way he would have the chance.“There’s something else in store for him. You don’t need to be worried. He will be an alpha as well, but not of Snow Mountain.”His frown deepened. Her words don’t make sense to him.“Which pack are you from? Is th
