Chapter 65

No one is ever prepared to lose a person you love so much, especially if that person is your Mom or Dad. Sometimes even both.

It’s not always common when a child has a strong, beautiful relationship with their parents. I did. My bond with my Dad was unconditional and unwavering. It was special and unique. I had that with my Mom as well, but we all know it’s different with both. Mom is everything to me. She is my warmth, affection, and care. Together they are love, inspiration, and irreplaceable.

Losing either one, is an incalculable lasting blow, a heartache that you will carry with you as the days, weeks, months, and years go by. I feel like losing my Father is losing that guidance, a pillar, a protector, a support, first love, a mentor, and an anchor.

I just can’t help but feel that this is my fault. ‘If only I was honest and told them the truth Zo. If only I let them know what my plans were, we wouldn’t be in this situation!’ I yelled.
