CYRUS STEELE
I stormed into my office leaving my "new secretary" behind. I loosened my tie and breathed in heavily. I could feel my heart racing, fast, almost pounding off my chest. It's been like this since the encounter I had with that woman at the cafe.
This morning, I woke up earlier than usual so I decided to grab my coffee at the cafe near my company. It's a little full but I was able to set my order without struggling because I am a regular there.
While waiting for my coffee to be served, I smelt something. A mixture of vanilla and strawberry that almost made me sniff the air obviously. I was just lucky I was able to control myself before anyone sees me sniffing like an animal.
But the smell lingered around me like a magnet testing every ounce of my patience. I was itching to look for the delicious smell when suddenly, my order was served. I stood up from where I was seated and went to the counter.
As I was nearing there, the smell became stronger and I could feel my insides twisting and howling in joy.
My mate is in the same room with me. My wolf is rejoicing. He had been waiting for his other half for years and now, he finally found her.
I, on the other hand never believed in love. I always thought that a mate is a destruction. Instead of looking for her, I fought the urge of sniffing the most delicious scent I have smelt and went to fall in line although I was having a hard time for I could clearly sense her somewhere near me.
Right in front of me is a woman wearing a body con dress that hugged her curves in the right places. Her brunette curly hair rested smoothly about two inches above her waist and she's got this long sexy legs but she's nothing compared to my height even with her heels on.
She kept on making little movements and the scent reached my nose, once again. I tensed when I realized that the woman in front of me is indeed my mate.
I was enveloped by her scent. Slowly, I took unsure and heavy steps towards her until a guy came in between us. That just angered me. I was disrespected. I clenched my fists and was about to pull the guy from his back and punch him hard when I saw how his large hand landed on my mate's butt.
He ran off a little not too far from us and hid behind a wall. I felt my anger rising up but I can't seriously attack and hit him because that will make me look like a fool, besides, I have no intention in staying connected with this woman, mate or not.
I just did my best to ignore my wolf's command and when I was just about to face the woman, I was welcomed by a very hard slap right on my left cheek.
Tingles flew all over my skin and instead of feeling the pain, it felt beautiful. As if tons of current flowed down my veins with just a single touch and if I wasn't able to control myself, I could've made a mistake of pulling her close to me just to feel once more, the sparks that warmed my body.
"That's... for the booty slap!" She screamed trying to look intimidating but she's nowhere near that.
I took a very threatening step forward and saw how she tried her best not to step back. With my eyes still fixed on her, I said,
"You see, I don't appreciate it when a nobody touches me and takes ownership of what is mine."She blinked a couple of times at my words. I saw how her hand squeezed the cup of coffee, its content spilled and burned her skin. I wanted to take it away from her because she was hurting herself. Without making my intension obvious, I took another step towards her almost making her kiss my chest. I bent down forwards and my back made a small sound at this action. I leveled my face with hers, taking up her personal space.
"And I don't appreciate people accusing me of non sensible things like you, for accusing me of "slapping" your nonexisting butt."
I said right in her face before snatching the cup of coffee from her and throwing it on the floor. Its content scattered everywhere and I couldn't care less.
Looking satisfied, I then straightened my position and looked over her shoulders saying, "I don't want anyone touching what's mine" before leaving the cafe. What I said came out with a double meaning but I don't think they got what I meant.
"This won't happen again Mr. Steele!"
The one in the counter screamed. Finally, getting away from my mate, I was able to breathe back normally. I did not even notice that I have been holding this sack of air until she was nowhere near me. I decided to just go calm my nerves into the woods before going to work.
I ran freely when I reached the forest. My wolf was disturbing me all the time though. Asking questions like why I did not take her with us but I just blocked my wolf. I wanted to run to breathe and relax for that little encounter I had with the woman put me on the edge.
But now, after twenty minutes of breathing back normally, she appeared in my company and claimed that she's here for work.
I could not believe it. One touch from her and I could not move at all."Get the hell up here!" I screamed through the phone.
I paced back and forth inside my office and my imagination once again went out of control when I remembered what happened earlier. How warm and soft her hands felt when she placed them on my chest. How innocent and scared she looked and how she flinched whenever I screamed and my wolf was not happy about it. She was scared after all.
"Mr. Steele." Someone called followed by three knocks.
"Come in." I said in a low and more relaxed tone.
The door clicked open and I watched as a young woman in her late twenties walked in. Her straight long hair swayed behind her with each step that she took. Her skin is glowing as usual and she is now dressed in a black pencil skirt and a plain silk blouse in gold that is neatly tuck in her bottoms.
"Where's that woman?" I asked.
"I told her to have a break until everything's cleared out, Alpha."
"I want her out of my company. Now!" I said through gritted teeth.
Her faint sighs were heard and I knew that she was about to bombard me with questions and that she would not stop until she gets the answers to it.
"But Alpha, she's fit for the job. Her curriculum vitae is excellent and she just got here about 30 minutes ago and you just fired her."
"I'm not changing my mind."
"But why? Why the hell would you fire her when she didn't even get to work yet?!"
I looked at the woman as I could feel my anger starting to rise. She cursed at me and no Alphas in their right mind would allow that.
"Watch your word, Lopez."
"No. I don't understand why on earth you would fire that poor little girl without having basis. Do you know her? Has she done anything wrong or are you on drugs and you're just picking on her?"
Her accusations increased my headache. Her hands are now on her hips trying to give me the feeling as if I was talking to my mom.
"I don't need to answer any of that because I own this company and I can do whatever I want!"
"Oh, don't give me that crap, you jerk. I am not just your sister, Cyrus! I am the Hiring manager and I have every right to know what went wrong on this one! I fucking hired her and you're trying to get rid of her? Now tell me, why are you doing this?"
She's pissed off just like me. I groaned in annoyance. I sat down on my swivel chair as I listened to my sister while she kept on tapping her feet on the floor. She was waiting for answers. Closing my eyes shut, I told her the word I never thought I would say.
"Mate." I said without looking at her.
The tapping of her foot stopped, my heartbeat raced. I put my head in between my hands. Just the mention of that word brought my wolf to dance with glee and I am not happy about it.
I find the idea of having a mate stupid and useless.
"Holy shit!"
Finally, she recovered from the shock. I sighed when she ran towards my table. She was so excited about the fact that I have found my "other half."
"Then, congratulations, Cyrus! You finally found your mate. Oh my goodness! Mom and dad should know about this..."
"No!" I said, stopping her from calling our parents. She looked at me with wide eyes.
"And why not?" She asked with her eyebrows raised.
I closed my eyes and breathed in heavily before I spoke.
"I don't need her, Lopez."
"What?!" I didn't say a word.
"What the hell Cyrus! Why are you being like this? Every werewolf needs a mate and that includes you!"
"I don't want her, I don't need her. That's final." I said leaving no space for argument but she was just not quitting.
There was a long silence between us and I could clearly hear my heart beating wildly.
Moments later, my sister huffed. She leaned down and pointed her forefinger at me. She made sure I was looking back at her when she said,
"Fine. I don't know why you're acting this way but you can't fire her. You might think that you don't need your mate but this company does. So brace yourself, Cyrus, because starting today, you're gonna feel that sparks you felt moments ago with your mate behind this darn closed door." She said with a smirk on her face.
And in a blink of an eye, she was out of my office. With a loud growl, I surrendered, taking her words seriously because I know for sure that this is going to be one hell of a ride.
CYRENE LOPEZI smirked as I threw my phone to the ground and crushed it under my combat boots. It shattered into tiny pieces, and I couldn't wait to do the same to Cyrus. He thought he was smart, but I knew what they were doing. They must have tracked me down with the help of Andy, that asshole. I stepped out of the building and got into my car."Where exactly are we going?" I turned to my side, and the witch looked at me smugly."Somewhere deep in the forest," I said simply. She shut up, quite satisfied with my answer.I glanced at the rearview mirror and smirked as I saw Carmela still unconscious. She looked more decent now compared to earlier since we didn't want to attract attention, especially at road inspections and checkpoints. Of course, we could kill anyone, but we wouldn't do that. This witch beside me was very useful indeed. Her spells worked wonders, and I had to keep her until I no longer needed her.I started the engine and drove us to his cabin. Right. I was going to en
"Coffee?" I asked, smiling at my boss who just came out of the elevator. He looked petrified when I appeared out of nowhere but he immediately looked at me with distaste. He moved aside and walked straight ahead, went into his office and shut the door close with a loud bang.I just sighed and gulped down the coffee that was intended for him and coughed right away when I burned my tongue."Ouch." I rubbed my tongue with my forefinger and thumb and decided to go back to my seat and think further on how to get in his good side."So, how's it going?""Miss Lopez. Good morning!" I exclaimed. She smiled at me and took the vacant seat across me."How are you keeping up with him?""I... I don't know, really. It's been three days since I got here and I think that he really hates me."It's been three long days since I started working as his secretary but within those days, I never got the chance to speak with him because, first, I never received phone calls nor guests to say that they need him
I have been staring blankly on the walls for the four hours now and I think I could stare at it until it's time to get off work.I could still feel my heart beating, my breath still unsteady and my hands and knees shaking. Trying to calm myself, I took slow but heavy breaths but it's not helping."Arrrrgh!" I groaned in frustration. Throwing my head right in my table, I kept mumbling curses and hoped that the floor would just open up and swallow me now. I can't take the embarrassment anymore.I can't help but feel conscious after what happened inside his office. I never expected him to do that. I can't believe he sniffed me like I'm a perfume he can't get enough of, and the fact that he knew that I was with Tristan made me wonder how the hell he found out! Like, you can't just say who I was with by merely smelling my skin right? It's not like Tristan sprayed perfume that made it cling to my skin and we weren't even close to one another. As far as I can remember, there was about a mete
"Carmela?" I heard someone call my name. I didn't move from my bed and just hugged my huge pillow tighter. Then, I heard the door creaked open. A small light lit my room and I did my best to avoid it, not liking how it's blinding my already swollen eyes."Carmela, honey.""What are you doing here, Miss Lopez?"Yes, I knew it was her the first time she called my name so I didn't bother moving."I came to visit you. You've been absent for four days now and I am starting to get really worried." There was sincerity in her voice.I sniffed and tried to swallow the saliva that's starting to form and hid my face even more. I am not in the right mind to talk to her and I don't want my boss to see me in this state."I can't do this... I... I want to resign." I admitted."But why?" She asked as my bed sank down. I felt her sitting near my feet."I just can't take it anymore. I can't stand Mr. Steele's attitude towards me. He despises me and I don't know why or what I can do to make him like me.
CARMELA THOMPSONI kept glancing between Cyrene and our boss--Cyrus, for what seemed like an hour. There's this heavy silence lingering around us the moment Cyrus stopped us from our trance a few minutes ago.Cyrene scoffed disrespectfully at our boss then without a notice, she grabbed me by my arm then dragged me back to our feet."I said stop." My heart leaped at how cold and demanding he sounded but that didn't bother Cyrene as she just kept going, dragging me along with her."Cyrene, I think Mr. Steele is mad." I whispered. She just smirked to herself and I can't help but wonder where she gets this confidence to disrespect our boss."He should be." She said meaningfully and hearing nothing more from our boss, she successfully dragged ourselves to a very famous bar.My head is filled with Cyrus and his weird actions were thrown outside the window the moment we stepped foot inside the bar. I wasn't even shocked anymore to see famous celebrities partying in here. Young people trying
For the past fifteen minutes, I've been silently praying to God to keep me and Cyrus safe, especially now that he is driving like a mad man leading us to a place only he knew where. We kept passing through big trucks and other vehicles and I am starting to wonder why the cops aren't following us yet when he has been over speeding as hell. I can't help but hold onto the seatbelt that is keeping me safe ever since we hit the road. The night is still young and cold, as cold as this man beside me. He never spoke nor looked at me after we got out of the club. I could still tell that he is mad but he has calmed down a bit, thank goodness! I don't think I can handle another beast like Cyrus at the moment.Even the nausea has gone off by now and just a tiny bit of headache is giving me a hard time but I know I can endure it. Finally, the car stopped and I looked outside the window and realized that we're nowhere near the city. He brought me into the woods. The fucking woods. My heart started
CARMELA THOMPSON"Could you bring these papers to Mr. Steele and have them signed?" I looked up to find Ms. McCarthy, my trainer, looking at me with a worried look.I sighed as I put my pen down. I nodded at her and took the papers from her. She looked at me for awhile. I can tell that she wants to ask me something but when I avoided her gaze, she just left without saying anything.I knew this would happen. Sooner or later, I knew I will speak to him, but for work at least. Trying my best to put on a poker face, I walked my way towards his office and gave myself a minute before knocking."Come in." I heard him say.I struggled a little as I am holding quite a lot of papers but I managed to open the door eventually. My eyes immediately fell on him and he's busy with his laptop. He didn't say a word nor looked at me as I stepped inside and again, the pang in my chest didn't go unnoticed.Clearing my throat, I said, "Ms. McCarthy wanted you to sign these, Mr. Steele." I said as I walked
I stepped into the café with a bright smile on my face. Positivity radiated from me as I joined the line to order my drink. After placing my order, I chose one of the many empty tables and took my time admiring the cozy atmosphere and delightful aroma that always filled the shop. It was a mere five minutes before I heard my name."Order up for Carmela!" Steve, the barista, called out.I stood up and marched towards the counter. Without hesitation, I grabbed the first cup of the three placed in front of me, confident it was mine. But just as I was about to turn around, I felt a large hand on my butt cheek. My freakin' butt cheek! My heart raced, and in an instant, my left hand slapped a face as I spun around.Silent curses erupted from the customers, and I couldn't help but smirk when I saw the red imprint of my palm on the face of the maniac. But in a blink of an eye, my sense of power and rage evaporated when I looked into his eyes. It was like staring into a brewing storm, dark and

Terrified, I mentally slapped myself for being so stupid and clumsy for spilling coffee all over my boss. His skin must have burned by now. Without thinking rationally, I looked at him to ask for forgiveness and to spare my life, but to my shock, I found myself staring at the arrogant man from the café."What the hell?!" he screamed—more like growled—and I swear the entire floor shook. My eyes went wide, my mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water. I couldn't find words to describe how stupid I felt about the whole situation. Who wouldn't, when the guy you mistook for a maniac is standing right in front of you? I couldn't believe that this cliché scenario from movies was now happening to me."Oh God, why does it have to be him?" I whispered."What?" the furious man asked."I... I..." Closing my eyes shut, I did the most appropriate thing to help him calm down—at least, that's what my mind came up with.I put the cup down on the table, raised both of my hands to his chest, and
