Maria, the old woman who found her outside the abandoned shop listened to her silent cries. She knew immediately the stranger she had brought inside her home was more than broken. Maria always walks around Tagadi Town as a means of stretching her legs.

By the time the town gets busy, she would be on her way back home or sometimes just sit around and speak to some of her friends. It was easy this way for her because she didn’t have to deal with the busybodies during the day, and damn, how hectic it always is when everyone is in town.

This morning, she didn’t know what came over her to come to town this early, but now, just hearing the woman in the bathroom sobbing, she knew she did the right thing not using a different route.

Maria’s head snapped toward the bathroom when she heard a glass breaking, the woman inside there had gone through something terrible and she didn’t know what words she would use to calm down.
