Chapter 56.2

Matias gave me his hand to help me stand, which I warmly accepted. I almost stumble when I finally stand because I can feel my knees weakening as it started feeling exhausted with the fight earlier and with what I am seeing around me. My eyes were left following Adrina because of the two bodies that he left on the ground for it was too late to save them. Their families were now mourning near their bodies.

I tightly gripped Matias' arm because of the heaviness I felt in my heart. I do not like what I am seeing, even the wailing that I  am hearing. It makes me feel like wanting to disappear instantly right here from where I stood just to escape this situation I am in.

"What would we do now, Matias?" I asked in my most vulnerable voice as I forced my tears not to fall from my eyes when I shifted my gaze onto him. "Do you think that if I had gotten here much earlier, we would never have suffered like this? We would never lose our people?"
