Chapter 57.1

I WIPED the tears that escaped my eyes while I stared at the fire that was consuming the body of our dead comrades. There were seven of them and three of them were just on their teen stage in life. I regretted that I came  on that scene late to help them. If only I was there when the attack started, perhaps I can build a plan for us to do, a strategy to easily defeat our enemy.

That has already happened and I cannot do anything about it now. This regret of mine can never give them back to us. I just need to accept the fact that they were gone even if it was too hard.

I looked towards Matias who was staring at me for quite some time now. Of all the people in here, he was the one who knew me the most so I know he knows what I am feeling as of this moment.

“We need to find another place to hide,” I whispered to the air which I knew he could hear.

He nodded at me gently without looking. “Indeed. For the safety of our people.”
