Chapter 9

Things spiraled out of control for Dona. Not only did she lose the baby because of Jeffery’s abuse, but when her boyfriend found out about her affair, he broke up with her and cut all ties.

Now, Dona has lost the ability to have children, and her boyfriend is gone. Everywhere she goes, people whisper and point at her.

The stress and humiliation took a toll on her mind. Unable to take care of herself, her mother had to come all the way from their hometown to bring her back home to recover.

I guess this is what they mean when they say you reap what you sow.

After I caught Stanley with that woman, I never went back to his repair shop.

But whenever I was lying in bed feeling lonely or using a little toy to keep myself company, it was always Stanley’s rugged, handsome face I imagined.

Three months later.

I had just returned from grocery shopping and stepped into the elevator when a man wearing a baseball cap and a black mask grabbed me, covering my mouth and nose with his hand.
