Evie scoffed. “Listen carefully, Caleb Long. I will never marry you again ever. Just give up!”

She hung up. Caleb called again, but she simply blocked his number.

Not long later, Julian called me too. He had probably just gotten home from work and noticed I had moved out. I did not answer either, so he sent me text message instead.

“Where did you go? Why didn’t you tell me in advance? Your body is still weak, so you should be resting.

“Please move back in. You can ignore me all you want, but you should rest up before we talk about what to do next.”

He sent me dozens of texts within a few short minutes. My phone never stopped vibrating.

In all the time we had been together, he never sent me more than three lines of text at once. I would always be the one texting him, and he would only reply after hours, if at all.

I kept telling myself it was because he was introverted or busy with work.
