"Mom, I’m the one who failed Phoebe. Please stop talking!"

In a rare moment of conscience, Christopher pulled Sally away and started walking home.

When they returned, Nikki was already making herself at home, acting like the lady of the house.

Everything I had left behind had been thrown out, replaced with her clothes filling up the wardrobe that once held mine and Christopher’s belongings.

"Christopher, I threw out all of that bar hostess’s things. From now on, it’ll just be me and the baby with you."

Christopher suddenly erupted in anger and slapped Nikki hard across the face.

"What right do you have to touch her things?"

Both Nikki and Sally stood there, stunned. No one dared to intervene.

Christopher was fuming and he threw Nikki’s belongings out in front of her. He also demanded to know where she had discarded my things.
