Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas
.Chapter 4.They waited in silence for another moment before there was a gentle knock on the door.Atlas moved to open it and Anais saw Amelia, another omega that she was friendly with. She smiled and waved at her. “I have a room for you,” she told them both. “If you’ll follow me?”Atlas nodded and held his hand out for Anais to precede him out of the room. He put a hand on the small of Anais’s back as she walked barefoot down the hallway and into a new room. It had been set up with a small table and there was already food on it. It was a full meal, and Anais was impressed at the kitchen to have been able to produce it so quickly.“Thank you,” Atlas told her as she led them in. He moved away from Anais and she bit her tongue to keep herself from whining.“Can I get anything else for you, Alpha Atlas?.” she asked.Atlas shook his head. “Thank you, we are fine for now. I’ll call for someone if we need anything.”Amelia nodded and flashed a smile at Anais before she let herself out. She shut the door behind her softly and Anais was alone with her alpha again. She dug her toes into the plush carpet nervously as she waited for the alpha.“Come, Anais,” he commanded gently. “I’m famished, so I know you must be. Please, don’t wait on me.” Atlas gestured to the chair closest to him and Anais moved to sit down.Once they were seated she didn’t know how to start a conversation. She felt awkward and worried. She picked up her fork and realized that the alpha was right, she was starved. It seemed like they both needed to eat first and talk later. They ate in silence for most of the meal but as they started to slow, Anais saw Atlas shift in his seat.Anais swallowed her food around the sudden lump in her throat. Her fear must have been evident because Atlas’ nostrils flared and he looked at Anais carefully.“I’m not going to abandon you, Ana,” he said. He looked Anais right in the eye and she could see the alpha was telling her the truth. His scent was calm and settled and Anais relaxed slightly. She nodded and took a shaky breath.“I wasn’t sure…” She said with a shrug. “So, then, now what?”“Well, I thought we should get to know each other a little,” Atlas replied. “For example, I know what you do for a living-“Anais winced slightly and she could feel the heat in her cheeks.“- and it’s fine, Anais. I won’t pretend that I’m better than you are as I found myself here in the first place,” Atlas continued. Anais licked her lips and put her fork down, the rest of her appetite gone. She nodded and Atlas continued. “Do you know what I do for a living?”Anais shook her head. “No, alpha. I’m guessing maybe I should, though, if you’re asking.”“I’m the president and co-owner of Hawke Networks,” Atlas told her.Anais could feel the blood that had rushed to her face drain out of it just as suddenly. She thought she was hearing things. There was no way that she had mated – oh no. Atlas Hawke, the alpha had introduced himself.Alpha Atlas Hawke. She didn’t know the alpha, but she knew Hawke Networks. It was one of the main news affiliates in the country.Anais was mated to a Fortune 500 company owner. No wonder Hazel was so angry.“Anais?” Atlas prompted when she was silent for too long.Anais shook her head slightly and blinked out of her thoughts. She looked at the alpha and tried to formulate words through her shock. She cleared her throat. “Madam Ivy didn’t tell me who you were,” She began. “I don’t know you, but I know your company.”Atlas nodded. “My brother, Jovani, was with me at the lounge as well as another business associate of mine, Luc St. Tan.”Anais swallowed and sincerely hoped that the alpha that had fucked her over the table was not her new brother in law.“Luc has since flown back to Chicago and Jovani has been in charge of the company for the last three days,” Atlas continued.Anais began to nod when she registered that the alpha had said three days. “Three days?” She asked. Her voice was an octave higher than usual and she knew that her scent was broadcasting her rising panic again.“Yes, Ivy told me that it had only been three days. She’s gone to get your in-house physician,” Atlas told her. His scent was neutral and Anais tried to breathe deeply to quell her panic. “Whatever happens, Anais, I’ll take care of you.”Anais’s wide eyes looked into Atlas’ calm ones and she tried to nod. She nearly jumped out of his chair when there was a slight knock on the door.Atlas called for whoever it was to enter and Anais watched as Ivy and their doctor, Joshua, entered the room.Anais liked Joshua. He was a kind, older gentleman who was always respectful and careful with the omegas. Anais trusted him. He was the first doctor she had ever been treated by who she trusted. Seeing him now, though, Anais thought she might throw up.“Hello Anais,” the beta greeted her.Joshua moved carefully and with purpose. He was always calm and efficient and it usually helped Anais to relax and feel comfortable, but today it did nothing for her.“Joshua,” She managed to murmur. The doctor smiled sympathetically at her.“I hear that we had a short heat,” he said as he set his bag on the bed. Anais could only nod silently. “Alright then, I’ll need to look you over. Do you want your alpha to step outside?” he asked Anais.Anais’s head whipped around at the sound of the low growl from Atlas. The alpha quickly cut it off and Anais saw he had clenched his jaw. She could see it ticking in the corner of his jaw.Atlas blinked and looked from Joshua to Anais.“I’ll do whatever you want me to, Anais,” he told her.Anais’s surprise was evident but Atlas only nodded that she had heard him correctly. She looked back to Joshua and bit the inside of her cheek. “I’d like him to stay,” She told the beta. Joshua nodded and gestured for Anais to move to the bed.“I’ll be right outside,” She heard Madam Ivy tell Atlas. “Let me know what you need.”“Thank you,” Atlas told her as Anais sat on the bed. He moved closer to where Anais and Joshua were then and Anais tried to calm her racing heart and shallow breaths.“Alright then, Ana, I’m just going to get some vitals first. Routine things you’re familiar with, okay?” Joshua’s soothing voice and scent of gardenias washed over her as she nodded and closed her eyes. She followed Joshua’s directions to open her mouth and breath deeply. The doctor didn’t mention the fact that her pulse was high or her deep breaths weren’t as deep as they should have been, nor did he mention the fear and panic that was surely saturating the air in the small room.He took a moment to check her mating bite and put some ointment on it to help the healing along.Anais tried to calm herself down but she couldn’t. The situation was already a mess with an accidental mating, they didn’t need this on top of it.Atlas told her he would take care of her no matter what happened, and Anais wanted to believe him. So far Atlas had shown that he would take care of her. He had defended her against Hazel’s hurtful words and had fed her. He told her he would keep Anais as his mate and wouldn’t abandon her.She hoped it was true.“Ana.” Joshua’s voice changed slightly and she opened her eyes. “I can take some blood to be absolutely sure, but I think that your alpha would probably be an easier test.”Anais pressed her lips together. She didn’t mind Atlas being close and scenting her, that wasn’t it. It was just the fact that she would have an answer one way or another if Atlas scented her. Her alpha would be able to detect the faint sweetness in her scent. The blood test would only back up her alpha’s nose. She looked at Atlas and nodded her head.Atlas moved closer from where he was still standing separate from them. Anais moved over on the bed slightly so that Atlas had more room to sit down and she laid her sweaty hands flat on her thighs to stop them from shaking.Anais sucked in a deep breath of Atlas’ icy scent and tipped her head, exposing her throat and scent gland on the opposite side from where her mating gland was.She closed her eyes as she felt Atlas’ arm snake around her waist and pulled her close.Anais shuddered when she felt the alpha’s hot breath on her skin. Atlas pressed his nose into the juncture between Anais’s neck and shoulder where the scent would be strongest and ran his nose up and down. The slight stiffening of the alpha combined with the increase in excitement in his scent told Anais all she needed to know. She looked warily at Atlas when he pulled away. He smiled at Anais and cupped her jaw. She didn’t need the confirmation, but she knew that Joshua did.Atlas nodded his head and looked to the doctor. He pulled Anais closer to his side as he spoke. “I can smell it. There’s a faint hint of sweetness there.”Joshua nodded and smiled.“Congratulations,” he told them. “If you can smell it and your heat stopped on day three, Ana, that means that you probably pupped the first day or very early on the second. It might have been one reason that you mated her, Alpha Atlas.”“Thank you, Joshua,” Atlas told him quietly. He turned to Anais and gently tilted her chin up until she was looking into her clear blue eyes. “Do you want to do a blood test to confirm?”She licked her lips before she spoke. “No, Alpha, your nose is just as good.”“Then we’ll forgo that and get you home.” He turned back to Joshua. “Would you tell Ivy that we are finished and that Anais will need to get her things from her room? I assume that I will not be allowed up to the private quarters.”“I’ll do that,” Joshua told him as he packed up his bag. “Good luck to you both,” he said as he headed to the door.Anais didn’t resist when Atlas pulled her into his arms and tucked his nose into her neck. Anais let him mold her how he saw fit and relaxed against his strong chest. She breathed in and out, focusing on the scent and the calm the alpha was exuding. She heard the door open and close and knew that Ivy was there again.“Joshua said that Anais needs to get her things from her room,” she said, confirming that was correct.Anais heard the rumble of Atlas’ deep voice as he answered her. The vibrations through his chest to Anais’s ear helped to calm her down further. She took a deep breath and took all the pieces of the last few days and pulled them apart in her brain.Heat.Mating.Unemployed.Pup...TBCAUTHOR’S NOTE: please comment and leave some gems if you got to this pointAccidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter 5.Once Anais had sorted everything in her mind she felt like she could think more clearly, even if there were no answers and she was still reeling from the events of the last hour or so. She had gotten good at putting things away to be able to push through in the moment. “Anais?” Atlas asked. She jerked up and realized that Atlas had probably called her name a few times.“Yes, sorry,” She said, flushing. “It’s alright,” Atlas reassured her. “I know you’re exhausted and you’ve had a long few days followed by a lot of new information to process.”Anais nodded when it seemed like he was expecting a response. “I want to get you home so that I can get you settled and we can decide what we are going to do. In order to do that, I need you to go with Ivy to your room and pack your things. She’ll escort you so that no one will stop you.”Anais nodded again and the alpha released his hold, allowing her to stand. She glanced up at Ivy’s fa
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter SIX.Atlas turned to Jesse and thanked him for bringing the bag. He shouldered it and said good night to the beta who tipped his hat before he went back to his post. Anais clung to Atlas’ hand as the elevator opened and they stepped inside.“Jesse is our usual night doorman. He’s friendly and good at his job. This is a well secured place, so you will be safe here.” Atlas looked down at her and Anais nodded. She wasn’t sure what else to do or say. She glanced down and realized that Atlas had pushed the button for the top floor.Anais’s stomach sank. She wasn’t sure how much money Atlas had, but if they were going to the penthouse in this building, it was significant. She waited in silence. She tried to take deep inhales of Atlas’ scent and remain calm. She knew she wasn’t succeeding when Atlas let go of her hand and pulled her into his side. Atlas wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her close. Anais didn’t fight the urge
. Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter SEVEN: .Atlas’ lifestyle was something that Anais would need to get used to.There were certain expectations that came along with Atlas’s job and life. The house was something Anais would be able to make her own and she would make friends with the other omegas in her circle. Anais could do whatever she wanted now, instead of working. Anais would figure it out and would be happy, she was sure. Atlas wasn’t naive. He knew that omegas didn’t sell their bodies if they had any other choice. Anais was young and he wondered how old she was. Atlas wasn’t old by any means, but he was just past thirty, which made him older than the omega by at least a few years. He was the president of a multibillion-dollar company that he ran with his brother. The duffle bag that weighed nothing to him on his shoulder held all of Anais’s possessions in the world.Atlas had quietly led Anais through the penthouse when they arrived. He knew that she was
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter EIGHT.Anais dawdled in her new room for as long as she could. She unpacked her meager belongings and set things up. She put her clothes in the drawers and her books on the nightstand. The room was large and spacious and bigger than anything Anais had ever even dreamed about having. It was a calming blue color with white trim that gave it a clean and peaceful feeling. The bed was large with soft sheets and a thick comforter. The windows provided her a view of the skyline that took her breath away.Anais felt a little like Cinderella here, but she snorted at the thought. Cinderella was not an accidentally mated whore who got knocked up so the prince had to take her in.Anais sank down on the bed as reality crashed around him. Her hands gripped the soft comforter on either side of her hips. It helped to anchor her. She was in a strange alpha’s house. An alpha who had money and power and authority over Anais in a way that no other al
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter NINE.Atlas continued. “It’s going to take me some time to get used to it, too.”“It’s okay, Alpha,” Anais whispered. “I don’t want to overstep.”Atlas shook his head at Anais. “You’re not. This is your home and I am your mate.” Anais nodded again and watched as Atlas tilted his head slightly. He looked like he was thinking and his scent was laced with curiosity. Anais pressed her lips together anxiously but the soft touch of her mate’s hand on her face helped to assure her that nothing was wrong.“You call me ‘Atlas,’” he said quietly.Anais felt her face slack in surprise. “Oh,” She said simply. “I’m sorry. I don’t know. I can stop if you want.”Atlas shook his head. “I like it,” he told Anais. “Many people call me Alpha Atlas, but mostly just my close friends and family call me Atlas. I wasn’t prepared for you to call me by my name so quickly.”Anais nodded. “You’re sure you don’t mind?”Atlas smiled at her. “No, Ana,” he
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter TEN: .When Anais woke up the next morning she was disoriented. She shot up in bed and looked around the brightly lit room in panic before she remembered where she was. The reality of the night before hit her and she flopped back down into the bed.She glanced at the clock and saw that it was after eleven in the morning. She had been extremely tired the night before and had slept hard. She usually needed to replenish her calories and fluids and sleep for an extended amount of time after a heat. She rolled out of the bed and grabbed some clean clothes. She would be sad to change out of Atlas’ shirt, but she wanted another shower. She crept across the hallway into the bathroom that she had put her things in the night before and turned on the shower. She stepped under the spray and sighed, able to appreciate it more than she had last night. The water pressure was strong and the temperature was hot. There were glass doors around the shower
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter ELEVEN.Atlas seemed like he wanted Anais for his mate, but Anais felt more like a child or a pet at the moment, not an equal. And maybe she didn’t need to be an equal, but she would like to have some decision making power with the things that directly impacted her.She looked at herself in the mirror and saw someone else staring back at her. It was her face, but the outfit that Anais wore was far from something she would choose for herself. She thought that Atlas was going to a lot of trouble to outfit her just for a few months. She would need maternity clothing sooner rather than later anyway.Anais felt like a bucket of ice had been dumped on her. The pup. She swallowed hard and steeled herself. She needed to get a grip on her emotions and thoughts in order to keep her place. She wasn’t sure where that was exactly, but she knew that she needed Atlas to be pleased with her if Anais would have any chance of a home and be able to s
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter TWELVE.Back outside on the busy street Anais didn’t know what to do. She needed to move out of sight of the doors so that they couldn’t see her, but she wasn’t sure where to go. She didn’t have any money or a cell phone, even if she did know how to get in touch with Atlas. She could probably find a number somewhere, but she’d never get high enough up into the company to even have a chance of speaking to Atlas and no one knew who she was.And there was the whole thing about Anais not knowing if Atlas wanted him to broadcast that they were mated. She sighed and looked around. There was a low wall just down a bit, still in front of the building but out of sight of the main doors, where Anais could sit and wait. Her spirits sank when she remembered Atlas saying that he would be working most of the afternoon. Anais resigned herself to a lonely couple of hours and made her way to the wall. She realized she was still a little shaky fro
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter SIXTY: . Anais let Atlas lead her around in a swaying motion and realized that the evening had gone better than she ever thought it would. She relaxed and enjoyed dancing with Atlas. They stayed on the dance floor for several songs before Anais started to drag a little.Atlas noticed right away and pulled her back to their table where they said their good-byes. Anais followed Atlas as they made their way across the room to the doors. Anais stopped and stepped out of the way as Atlas moved to the window to get their coats from the coat check.“I didn’t think I’d see you here tonight,” a breathy voice said behind her. Anais turned to see Lilith approaching her.“Lilith, it’s nice to see you,” Anais said. She would be civil and cordial. She reminded himself that she and Atlas had had a wonderful night and she wasn’t going to let this woman ruin anything for her.“Wish I could say the same,” she simpered. Anais rolled her eyes.“What
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter FIFTY NINE: . They had been home for three days when Atlas brought up the subject of a charity ball.“What do you think?” he asked Anais. She paused. It would be the first function out in society since her illness. Anais licked her lips and thought about it. “Like, how big of an event are we talking?” Anais asked.Atlas handed her the glossy invitation and Anais stared at it. It was for the Rainforest Alliance Annual Gala. It looked fancy and it was going to be held at the American Museum of Natural History. A big event.“If you don’t want to go, it’s alright, we won’t.” Atlas’ scent was honest and the understanding look on his face made Anais feel like Atlas meant what he said.“I’ll have to go out sometime, right?” Anais asked jokingly. “Anais , it really is-““No, no, Atlas, it’s okay. I mean, we knew something was going to have to happen to get us back out there, it’s just…” She shrugged. Atlas stepped forward and took her
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter FIFTY EIGHT: . “What are you thinking about?” Atlas asked softly. They were laying together after Atlas had cleaned them both up, Anais’s head on his chest. Atlas had been brushing his hand through Anais’s hair, grooming her. He noticed that the omega’s scent was wavering. He knew Anais was thinking about something she wasn’t sure of and worried about. Atlas wanted to give her the chance to talk about whatever was bothering him.He continued to try and read Anais’s scent more than he had before. Anais was expressive and he wondered if the omega had been this way all along and Atlas had ignored it, or if she had controlled herself tightly the first few months.Anais sighed and shifted slightly. Atlas felt the brush of her rounded belly against her hip and he reached over to stroke it. He felt Anais’s mouth lift into a smile against his skin and it made Atlas smile in turn.“I don’t want to destroy the mood,” Anais told him. “It’s
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter FIFTY SEVEN: . ATLAS POVAtlas lay with Anais after they were knotted, thinking about their discussion. Her omega had dropped off after several minutes and Atlas took some time to look over her. They were laying on their sides, spooned together and he could see a clear view of most of his mate. His eyes followed his fingers as they trailed over her collarbone and down her back to her ribs. He brushed the hair off of Anais’s face and ears and looked at her lashes and freckles. Her perfect bow lips relaxed in sleep made her look young and youthful. He thought about what Anais had said that night and realized, again, what life was like for his omega. He felt sad and angry that Anais had gone through so much. Atlas was both appalled and honored that Anais had such a tie to him, but it also made him feel slightly ill to know that his mate’s situation was so precarious. He had been confident with Anais that this fragility wouldn’t be for
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter FIFTY SIX: . Anais knew that people needed time to change, but she was angry and frustrated now. She was upset that Atlas told her one thing and did another. She was mad because her body was betraying her and she felt helpless to do anything about anything. She didn’t want to go back to living in fear every day and she could easily see how that would happen if she knew she was going to be sick every night if Atlas was late.“Do you know how frustrating it is to have your entire life taken away and put into the hands of someone else who could literally kill you with indifference?” Anais asked him. She heard Atlas' swift intake of breath and pressed her lips together. “Atlas, I’m not trying to blame you or make you feel bad. I want to move forward as much as you do, but it’s different for me.”She swallowed and ran a hand through her hair. “You want all these things for me. You want me to be happy and safe and well cared for. You
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter FIFTY FIVE: . “Atlas, dinner’s ready,” Anais called from the kitchen. She plated the food and set everything out but Atlas hadn’t appeared. She padded back into the hallway and knocked on the door to the office.“Come in,” Atlas’ voice called. Anais pushed open the door to see her alpha at his desk. Atlas had been working non-stop the entire day and Anais wanted him to stop and eat. The pictures from the night before had run that morning, along with a short article and the rest of the news outlets had quickly picked it up.Anais had been reluctant to look at it when Atlas asked her, but she had in the end. It wasn’t as bad as he thought. There were several pictures that made Anais smile. There was one of her and Atlas when they got to the restaurant and Anais had made the joke. They were smiling at each other, sharing a little excitement about the future. One of the others was a shot of Atlas kissing her hand when they were in
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter FIFTY FOUR: . She and Atlas had made a lot of progress, but Anais was still feeling her way with the alpha. She felt more confident that Atlas was going to try his best, but Anais was still conscious of the fact that he hadn’t been back to work yet and it had only been about a week since they got home. Things could and would change and Anais still wasn’t sure how Atlas would react to the new situations. She had to remind herself often that she needed to keep her wits about him and be careful. The intimacy of their conversation and the atmosphere had caused her to let her guard down and be completely honest with the alpha and now she didn’t know what would happen.“You refer to the penthouse as my house, not our house,” Atlas told her. “You haven’t felt at all like it was your home?”Anais sighed and briefly closed her eyes. She didn’t really want to have this conversation now. In fact, she was hoping that they wouldn’t have to tal
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter FIFTY THREE: . “You’re sure you’re ready for this?” Atlas asked her. Anais turned and smiled at the alpha. “Atlas, it’s been a week. I think it’s time.”“Do you think it’s time or are you ready?” Atlas asked. Anais nuzzled into Atlas’ neck. She scented the pure icy clean fragrance of her mate and she let out a soft sigh. “Both,” She whispered.Atlas’ arms tightened around her and he hummed. “Anais…” Anais pulled back. “Atlas, it’s time,” She said firmly. “I don’t know that I’ll ever be ready. I’ve hidden away and it hasn’t made a difference. I’m not sure how comfortable I am with being in the news all the time, but you are and I am your mate. You’re not the only one who needs to do some things differently. This is part of you and your life and I can’t hide forever.“The media needs to see that I’m healthy and whole and that we are ok. They won’t go away and I’m sure there will be plenty of nasty things said about me, but I
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter FIFTY TWO: . Anais blinked her eyes open sometime later and smiled when she felt the strong arms of her mate holding her. She realized she must have fallen asleep. She stretched slightly and huffed a laugh as she remembered another time she woke up disoriented in this position. She turned slightly and glanced over her shoulder to see Atlas awake and smiling. “Something funny?” She asked.Anais shuffled and Atlas loosened his arms enough for Anais to roll over to face him. “Just remembering the first time I woke up like this,” She said. Atlas smiled back.“I remember it was a bit of a shock,” he replied drily.“Just slightly,” Anais laughed. “How long was I out?”“About forty-five minutes,” Atlas told her. “Not too long, but you need to rest, so I wanted to let you sleep.”Anais nuzzled further into Atlas’ embrace. “Thanks Atlas,” She mumbled. “Are we going to go to the store?”“If you want to, Anais. I’ll do whatever you want.”“
