Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas
.Chapter EIGHT.Anais dawdled in her new room for as long as she could. She unpacked her meager belongings and set things up. She put her clothes in the drawers and her books on the nightstand. The room was large and spacious and bigger than anything Anais had ever even dreamed about having. It was a calming blue color with white trim that gave it a clean and peaceful feeling. The bed was large with soft sheets and a thick comforter. The windows provided her a view of the skyline that took her breath away.Anais felt a little like Cinderella here, but she snorted at the thought. Cinderella was not an accidentally mated whore who got knocked up so the prince had to take her in.Anais sank down on the bed as reality crashed around him. Her hands gripped the soft comforter on either side of her hips. It helped to anchor her.She was in a strange alpha’s house. An alpha who had money and power and authority over Anais in a way that no other alpha ever had, even her dad. Atlas could do anything he wanted because Anais was his mate and that scared her badly.Anais hadn’t even begun to process the fact that there was a pup in her belly either. She was too immersed in the physical reality of her new room and the alpha downstairs. She knew that there was a pup, but right now, it wasn’t in her face like everything else. The chances of her losing the pup were almost nothing. Omegas tended to hold pregnancy well and unless there was a serious trauma or sickness, pups were viable and usually term, so there was a certainty that she would have to deal with it sooner or later, but for now, she needed to adjust one thing at a time. Her stomach growled and she realized that she was also still thirsty. She needed to get her calories back up and get hydrated. She knew that the alpha needed the same thing. She got up and opened her door. She listened for any sounds coming from the upstairs and heard nothing. She wondered where the alpha was, and if it was ok for her to wander around. Atlas didn’t tell her she had to stay in her own room all the time, but Anais was unsure. She hated that feeling. She had always been independent and had handled her own business. Now, she was at the mercy of an alpha she didn’t know and it scared her and made her angry at the same time. Anais wanted to be herself, but she warred with the idea because what if Atlas didn’t actually like her?The omega needed to do everything she could to make sure she gave the alpha no cause to reject her and make her leave.Anais didn’t know what she would do if that happened. And the pup. He could take the pup from her. Real or not in her mind, the fierce protectiveness that omegas usually felt for their pups surfaced inside of her and she set her jaw. She would do whatever she needed to do to make sure they were both safe and had a home. Together.Anais crept down the stairs and peered around. Everything was just as it was and it was quiet. She didn’t hear anything at first and had a moment of panic that Atlas had actually left the apartment. She took a deep breath and got a hold of herself before her thoughts ran away with her.She moved into the kitchen and as she did so, she heard rustling coming from down the hallway. Anais hadn’t been down there when she got home and she was curious what there was. It was on the other side of the kitchen, accessible from both the kitchen and hallway out of the dining room. She walked down the short hallway and breathed a small sigh of relief when she saw Atlas sitting at a desk in one of the rooms. The door was open and he was typing on his computer. He looked tired and there was a messy, unkempt look to him that Anais enjoyed. She couldn’t scent him from this far away, but she found that her omega wanted to.She held herself back though.Anais knocked lightly on the door jamb to get the alpha’s attention instead.“Hello Ana, are you all unpacked?” he asked.Anais bit her lip and nodded. “Thank you,” She said. The alpha smiled and nodded.“I want you to make yourself at home here, Ana. This is your home now. I’ll give you a tour tomorrow but I need to catch up on a few things from the office. I wasn’t planning on taking leave and there are a things that I need to see to immediately.”“Of course, alpha,” Anais was quick to say. She took a step back from the doorway. “I’ll leave you alone.”“Ana.”Atlas’ voice stopped her and Anais turned to face him. The alpha smiled softly at her.“I know it’s late and I have some work to do now but if you need me, come and get me.”Anais returned the smile and nodded. “Thanks,” She said softly. She held the alpha’s eyes for a few moments before she ducked his head and turned to leave. She heard Atlas begin typing again and she made her way back to the kitchen.Food and water were her number one priority. She could make something for both of them, so that when Atlas was finished working he would have something to eat.Anais could do that and be useful. She wasn’t a gourmet chef by any chance, but she could put a meal together. She had never really had a lot of opportunity to cook or use a nice kitchen like this and she was excited. She had always wanted to cook more. Maybe this would be something she could learn to do now that she was mated and would have access to a kitchen regularly. She opened the fridge and grimaced.Apparently, her alpha wasn’t a cook either. She reached into the bare cavern and pulled out a few leftover containers. She set them on the counter to throw away. It had been at least three days since Atlas had been home, so those needed to go.Who knows how long they had been in there. She threw away a molded bit of cheese and a soft apple along with a few other things and sighed at what was left. It wasn’t much at all and Anais didn’t know if there was anything in there she could use other than the half dozen eggs.Thankfully they were still in date. She closed the door and opened the freezer and laughed out loud. There was ice and booze. Not even a frozen pizza in there. She closed the door with a shake of her head and moved on to the cabinets. She familiarized herself with what was where and was impressed that an alpha that didn’t cook had such an extensive collection of cooking items. There were pots and pans and gadgets that Anais had never seen before. She would have to read up on those. She found olives and a package of expensive pepperoni that looked like it was for a picnic or something. She pulled those down, an idea forming in her head. She went back to a cabinet she had been looking in before and bent down to pull out one of the drawers. There were a few onions there and she grabbed one.Anais busied herself chopping the onions and pepperoni before she got out the eggs and olives and made two large omelets. It wasn’t much but it would fill them both up.Anais would have to ask Atlas what she needed to do for groceries.Anais put the pan on the stove warmer and refilled the glass of water she had kept with her. She was worried that Atlas didn’t have anything to drink or eat and she didn’t want to eat without him.Uncertainty swept over her again and she paused, unsure of what to do.She wasn’t sure how long she stood there, worrying and wondering what to do when Atlas came down the hall and rounded the doorway into the kitchen. The alpha stopped suddenly and sniffed the air and Anais blinked.“Are you okay?” Atlas asked her.Anais nodded and moved to take the pan off of the warmer. “I made something for us to eat,” She told Atlas while her back was turned. She put one of the omelets on a plate and handed it to the alpha.Atlas’ surprise was evident and he took the plate gingerly. His scent told Anais that he wasn’t expecting food and he was pleased by it. Anais breathed out a small sigh of relief and turned to fill her own plate. She watched Atlas open the freezer and pull out the bottle of vodka. Anais held her tongue and tried to control her scent. She poured a glass of water for the alpha and set it, along with her own, on the table for them to eat.She went back for her plate and Atlas stepped in front of her. Anais took a step back in surprise and Atlas smiled at her.“I didn’t mean to startle you,” Atlas told her. Anais nodded, suddenly unable to find her voice. “Is something the matter?” Atlas asked her.Anais warred with herself for a moment before she decided to be honest. She looked the alpha in the eye before she spoke.“You need water, not liquor, after your rut. Especially this one. You haven’t had any aside from the single glass you drank when we ate earlier.”“You noticed how much I drank?” Atlas asked her. He looked at Anais curiously and she flushed.“Of course, I did,” Anais told him confidently. “You need to have water after a rut like yours.” She pointed to the full glass on the table.Atlas nodded at her and smiled slightly. “I know, Ana, thank you. There is bottled water in my office and I have had several of those since we got home.”“Oh,” Anais said, flushing deeper. She felt embarrassed and stupid. Of course, the alpha would know how to take care of himself. “I’ll just…” She turned back towards the table, feeling tears prick her eyes. She didn’t know what was going on, she wasn’t a crier normally, but something about this small embarrassment made her want to break down.“Ana…I…” The alpha caught her wrist in a gentle hold, but Anais didn’t turn around. “Thank you for thinking of me.”Anais nodded, afraid to use her voice. She tried to blink away the tears before they spilled but she couldn’t stop them. She heard Atlas sniff and Anais knew he could smell the salt in the air as well as her embarrassment. She heard the soft clink of a dish on the counter and Atlas pulled her gently towards him as he stepped forward to Anais.“Are you…Ana, why are you crying?” he asked.Anais shrugged and shook her head, unable to say anything past the lump in her throat, but not sure what to say anyway. Atlas seemed to understand and he pulled Anais to his chest. She went willingly and something about the comforting gesture and the understanding in the alpha’s scent let the knot in her chest loosen and she hiccupped and wrapped her arms around the alpha’s waist.Atlas held the back of Anais’s head into his neck for her to scent. He let Anais cry and soothed her with strokes of his hand up and down the omega’s back and gentle sounds of comfort. He didn’t tell Anais to calm down or stop crying, he just held her and let her process through the night. When Anais calmed, Atlas pulled her away slightly and cupped her jaw. The tenderness in his eyes and touch made Anais want to start crying all over again.“I want to reassure you that everything is going to be fine, but I don’t know if that’s true. There’s probably a lot of things we are going to have to work out, but you’re not alone with this.”Anais closed her eyes and let Atlaa’ words wash over her. She nodded slightly and opened her eyes again as she blinked away the last of the tears.“Thank you for worrying about me and taking care of me. I haven’t had anyone to do that in a very long time,” Atlas continued. “It’s going to take me some time to get used to it, too.”..TBCAUTHOR’S NOTE: hi you guys, how’s the story so far? This is your home and I am your mate.” Anais nodded again and watched as Atlas tilted his head slightly. He looked like he was thinking and his scent was laced with curiosity. Anais pressed her lips together anxiously but the soft touch of her mate’s hand on her face helped to assure her that nothing was wrong.“You call me ‘Atlas,’” he said quietly.Anais felt her face slack in surprise. “Oh,” She said simply. “I’m sorry. I don’t know. I can stop if you want.”Atlas shook his head. “I like it,” he told Anais. “Many people call me Alpha Atlas, but mostly just my close friends and family call me Atlas. I wasn’t prepared for you to call me by my name so quickly.”Anais nodded. “You’re sure you don’t mind?”Atlas smiled at her. “No, Ana,” he
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter TEN: .When Anais woke up the next morning she was disoriented. She shot up in bed and looked around the brightly lit room in panic before she remembered where she was. The reality of the night before hit her and she flopped back down into the bed.She glanced at the clock and saw that it was after eleven in the morning. She had been extremely tired the night before and had slept hard. She usually needed to replenish her calories and fluids and sleep for an extended amount of time after a heat. She rolled out of the bed and grabbed some clean clothes. She would be sad to change out of Atlas’ shirt, but she wanted another shower. She crept across the hallway into the bathroom that she had put her things in the night before and turned on the shower. She stepped under the spray and sighed, able to appreciate it more than she had last night. The water pressure was strong and the temperature was hot. There were glass doors around the shower
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter ELEVEN.Atlas seemed like he wanted Anais for his mate, but Anais felt more like a child or a pet at the moment, not an equal. And maybe she didn’t need to be an equal, but she would like to have some decision making power with the things that directly impacted her.She looked at herself in the mirror and saw someone else staring back at her. It was her face, but the outfit that Anais wore was far from something she would choose for herself. She thought that Atlas was going to a lot of trouble to outfit her just for a few months. She would need maternity clothing sooner rather than later anyway.Anais felt like a bucket of ice had been dumped on her. The pup. She swallowed hard and steeled herself. She needed to get a grip on her emotions and thoughts in order to keep her place. She wasn’t sure where that was exactly, but she knew that she needed Atlas to be pleased with her if Anais would have any chance of a home and be able to s
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter TWELVE.Back outside on the busy street Anais didn’t know what to do. She needed to move out of sight of the doors so that they couldn’t see her, but she wasn’t sure where to go. She didn’t have any money or a cell phone, even if she did know how to get in touch with Atlas. She could probably find a number somewhere, but she’d never get high enough up into the company to even have a chance of speaking to Atlas and no one knew who she was.And there was the whole thing about Anais not knowing if Atlas wanted him to broadcast that they were mated. She sighed and looked around. There was a low wall just down a bit, still in front of the building but out of sight of the main doors, where Anais could sit and wait. Her spirits sank when she remembered Atlas saying that he would be working most of the afternoon. Anais resigned herself to a lonely couple of hours and made her way to the wall. She realized she was still a little shaky fro
Accidentally Mated To Alpha Atlas .Chapter THIRTEEN .He looked into his mate’s eyes, pleading with him to understand. He felt like an asshole. His mate thought that he didn’t want to publicly claim her then he dumped her at the apartment building to fend for herself when no one knew her and rushed to work. The deal was important, but Atlas was going to have to think about Anais now, too. And their pup. Suddenly, the situation got a lot more serious.“Have you been out here the whole time?” he practically growled. He saw Anais’s eyes widen a fraction as the omega stiffened. Atlas gritted his teeth and controlled his alpha.“I’m sorry, alpha, I didn’t know what else to do.”He pulled Anais to him and tucked his nose into her neck. “I’m not angry with you, Ana, I’m angry with myself.” He sighed and stroked her back. Anais relaxed slightly and Atlas was able to let go of a little tension too.“First thing tomorrow, we’ll get you a cell phone so that you can always reach me
ANAIS’S POVThe next few days were boring for Anais. She felt increasingly restless and adrift. Atlas had taken care of her that night after she had spent the afternoon on the street, but the next day ended up working from home a lot of the time. He spent hours in his office and though he frequently came out to check on Anais and though he always touched her somehow, Anais still felt very alone. She didn’t feel sick or rejected like she had that first day, thank goodness, but there wasn’t anything really to do and she felt like she wasn’t working on building a relationship with her alpha. They slept in separate beds and made conversation about little things during the day. Sometimes they ate together but mostly, Atlas was in his office, leaving Anais to her own devices. Eileen didn’t come the next day but Anais quickly understood that she was there several times a week to do the cleaning and the laundry.Atlas had seemed distracted and though he had not gone out to get the
“Let’s get you set up,” Atlas told her as they entered the building. Anais gaped at him but didn’t have time to question him further before a sales attendant approached them.“Alpha Hawke,” he greeted them. The beta was tall and dark with a bald head and a wide smile. Anais didn’t like him. She wasn’t sure what it was, but the beta made her feel inferior with just a look. She shifted closer to Atlas but didn’t reach for him like she wanted to.“Uriel,” Atlas greeted the other as he shook his hand. “I need to get some things today for Ana here,” Atlas continued as he indicated her next to him. “She will need a laptop and a cell phone.”“Of course,” Uriel responded. “Follow me, your private room is ready.”Anais tried not to gape at the fact that not only was this guy waiting for Atlas to arrive, he was on a first name basis with her alpha and was currently leading them to a private room. If she had come in here a week ago, they would have turned her right back around and made
Atlas didn’t seem to notice her and Anais watched his face as he clenched his jaw and shook his head. Anais’s stomach churned at the sight of the alpha so upset. Anais’s omega instincts were to bare her neck and submit to the authority and anger of the alpha but she couldn’t make herself move.Anais looked over to the table that was littered with several laptops and devices, coffee cups and paperwork. It wasn’t that late but it looked like they, too, had been here and working for a while. She was confused and worried as she continued to take in the details of what was going on.An unfamiliar red head was hunched over one of the laptops and there were two other female betas sitting with her at the table. They each wore headphones and were completely absorbed in what they were doing. Anais couldn’t see any of the screens in front of them and didn’t know what she would be looking at anyway. She turned when she heard something in the kitchen and Eileen came out carrying a pot of
