Zyrielle's POV.

My eyes narrowed at his statement, trying to read between the lines yet failing woefully. "Teach Lucas a lesson? Why?" I replied skeptically.

He sighed, leaning slightly forward to touch me but I recoiled at his near touch. "My bad, I was only trying to adjust the pillow, you looked uncomfortable." He pointed out which I didn't feel was too bad. I appreciated the fact that he wanted to help me out, at least. However, I was still a bit reticent about him.

"Okay, so..."

"So, my nephew has done a lot of things that he needs to be punished for. One of which is hurting you." He answered with a hint of anger and determination in his tone. This wasn't just because of me, it was some deep-seated anger that he was trying to contain.

"And we return to square one," I muttered.

"You still haven't told me what I want to hear," I answered him as I pondered on what Lucas could have done to cause his uncle to hate him so much.

"Yeah, I was coming to that... Let's just say that hi

Zyrielle's POV.The ride to the hospital was a cool one if I did say so myself. It was just too serene, and I couldn't help but relax in the car and watch how everything was playing out. Soft music played in the background. I think it was a familiar R and B singer but right now, I wasn't paying attention to it other than my fate at the hospital. If I had my way, I would have gone alone but since I was penniless and had received the ability to access free healthcare, I would take that over other things though."Do you want some Cheetos?" Rain interrupted my thoughts and my eyes snapped open. "Is there anything else you'd like?" He inquired, thinking that I didn't want what he offered when I was only just toying with the thought of eating something. My stomach was a warzone right now. "I can manage." "Are you sure? We could stop by the diner at the side before entering the hospital." I wrinkled my nose at the thought of food. This was weird given the fact that I loved food before th

Zyrielle's POV. "Of course not. I only try my best to make sure that things are in order." "You may come in." The nurse mentioned and we rose before walking after her into the doctor's office. "Good day, Mr and Mrs..." He trailed off when we walked in, not wanting to offend us. "Duncan." Rain supplied. I didn't object. "Please, take your seats." He motioned to the chair and we sat. "I will be taking your vitals signs because I want to assess you personally. I hope that's okay?" He inquired. A nurse was present with him and I nodded. There was no way that I could object that. It would give me more confidence that I was probably in good hands. "Yeah, you can go ahead please." I told him and he looked up at me. He checked my blood pressure and my weight. "Lovely results." He muttered, making me a bit happy at the answer. It was great. I didn't want to be hypertensive. "May I know the symptoms you're having?" "I feel weak and do not have any appetite to eat." I responded whi

Zyrielle's POVMy heart beat faster as I came down from the couch in which I lay a few minutes ago. A lot of thoughts circled my mind as I walked right to where Rain was seated. "Okay... So, where are we going?" Rain probed, impatient to get answers which I also was in a hurry to get. "You'll have to return tomorrow. It should be done in the morning, you can just relax here for a while if you don't mind. I would have suggested placing her on admissions but I don't know how that might sound." He explained to us. Rain glanced at me and I nodded, I loved the fact that he was giving me the opportunity to choose whatever I wanted. To others it might seem so small but it was pretty significant to me. "My wife will tell you what she wants. Babe?" He whispered and I shrugged. "I don't mind, but I don't want to stay here longer than tomorrow. Is that possible, Doc?" I answered, smiling softly while shooting him a pleading gaze. I honestly didn't want to be confined to a bed when I still

Send them to me via email so that I can rectify it from over here." "Don't tell me what the hell to do. If you can't do it, send her away." He replied and I stared at him softly. He didn't know that I was watching him. His muscles flexed underneath his flannel shirt, while I watched him slowly. "Hmm, are you sure you heard her well? I can't believe that because I know what's at stake here. Now, if you will allow me to talk to Zyron he'll sit up." He spoke and I stared at him quietly. He was angry. I wonder who managed to piss him off. "Okay, is there anything that you want me to do for you? Name it." He continued talking. I was confused, was he that generally nice or was there some caveat which I didn't understand? I wondered. "Yeah, I'm in the hospital, I will talk to you later." He answered the perso

Zyrielle's POV.I sighed in relief when I heard that I wasn't undergoing any serious case. "we will seek a second opinion. She doesn't look happy." I heard Rain telling the doctor. "I need her to be up and running before I can be at rest." He told her. The doctor nodded squarely, "Well, don't worry about it. I can refer you if you want. But I still maintain that she stays on bed rest so that she doesn't grow worse. She's in a delicate state that required utmost care." Rain nodded solemnly. I knew that he was going to go overboard with his care. I wasn't handicapped, only pregnant at least for now till we have been to ascertain my real condition. "Let's go home." I heard Rain say and I turned towards him. He was smiling down at me. I placed my foot softly from the bed and climbed down. My head reeled with pain but I held in the pain, not wanting him to fuss about me. "Rain, can you help me?" I called when I still felt woozy. This was obviously due to my lack of appetite. "Thank yo

Zyrielle's POV. "Not now, Lucas." I groaned under my breath. We were beginning to draw attention and I was pained by this outcome. This didn't make any sense at all. I locked eyes with Rain but even feared for my life when I saw the way he was vibrating in anger. I reached for his arm across the table. As much as I would like to answer Lucas, this wasn't the right place. I wanted to slap a lawsuit in his face. That way, I would be able to get rid of him instantly without any remorse. He was seething, tension was brimming and sparks were about to fly. If we condoned it, then we would be butting heads soon. Instead I smiled at him. "I didn't know that you frequented a place like this. One would think that a man of your status wouldn't be found here. Where's your arm candy?" I pretended to gaze around, searching for his royal deliciousness. His face turned grim, causing me to laugh at him. He was making a big fool out of himself and I was here to watch in delight. I placed an arm on

Zyrielle's POV. "I think it will be better if we go to a park so we don't get overwhelmed," Rain suggested to me. I nodded after a moment's hesitation. I contemplated it for a second and came to the conclusion that it was not a bad idea. "I don't mind that," I said, giving him a small smile to show my approval of his suggestion for us to go to the park. It would be best than returning to his house. We walked to his car. I was not expecting that he would follow me to my side of the door and open it for me. I could feel the blood rush to my cheeks as I blushed. "Thank you," I said with a small smile. He smiled back at me as he shut the door. While he headed to the driver's side of the car, I struggled to catch my breath. I fanned my face so that the heat would calm down. He got in and started the car after I was buckled in. "You ready?" He asked and I nodded. He nodded with a brief smile and put the car in drive, pulling out of the driveway and into the road. He seemed very serene a

Zyrielle's POV. "He hits you?" I inquired from her softly. "Tell me you are lying Cheryl. I know that this might be a ploy for you to begin your pity party but..." "Why would I lie about something like that? I am a victim of abuse. Why do you think I demanded a divorce from him? I can play you the videos so that you know that I am not lying." Cheryl said. I refused to believe that she was enduring abuse yet never said anything. Well it could be because she wanted to have everything to herself and right now it was backfiring sweetly. "My goodness... Are you kidding me?" I replied, waiting for her to deny it. She shook her head pitifully and in that instant I didn't know what else to do. "I wouldn't lie about something as grave as that. I am happy that he is behind bars but let's be factual, he wouldn't be staying there for a long time. When he comes out, he would only continue from where he stopped and that is where you come in. Zyrielle's POV. Although a few days had passed yet I couldn't shake off the nagging feeling in my head that I hadn't seen the end of Lucas. He was going to do something one way or the other. I still walked in fear hoping that he was just bluffing and there weren't any nudes on the internet waiting to be released. These thoughts ate deeply into my subconscious and gradually I was beginning to lose my patience. Brenda noticed this because she handled all my meetings with ease and told me to get some rest. It was easier said than done, especially with everything that was going on. A knock drew me out of my thoughts, making me look up. Brenda walked in with a smile on her face. "You have a visitor. Cheryl." She spoke. I wasn't in the mood to discuss with Cheryl despite expecting her after all this while. I knew she was going to come up with something more like an accusation but I wasn't ready to dive into that. I nodded anyway. Putting our meeting off was not going to solve the probl

Zyrielle's POV.Right at that moment a lot of things went wrong with my mental health. I couldn't breathe properly, I began to think of how the media was going to go agog with the current development. I couldn't even fathom how I was going to be able to walk around except if I to prove that it wasn't me in any of those clips he threatened to pull out. "You must be the most delusional person that I have ever met in my entire life. How do you think this is going to favor you in any way? You came here with the intention to threaten us to do what? Will the company to you?" Rain piped up. I wasn't even sure that he had any videos of me but coming from someone who was this desperate, had this sinister plan before I could even find out, nothing was impossible with him. Lucas threw his head backwards and began to laugh. "I wouldn't give out my trade secrets now would I? I came to make a proposition. Chapter 117. Zyrielle's POV. "Wakey wakey, rise and shine my sweetheart we need to leave as soon as possible." Rain dragged my feet from under the bed making me grimace in mock anger. I definitely didn't mind whatever he wanted from me as long as it gave me peace. "I told you I had a meeting earlier today. Can we take some time before traveling?" I negotiated so that I could sleep in more. "Nope, because I know you don't have anywhere to go. Courtesy of Brenda who has informed me of your schedule beforehand. So what other excuse do you have?" He inquired, making me a bit worried. "Should I be worried about your stalkerish tendencies?" I grinned into the blanket refusing to show my face. He knew what he was doing and I also wanted to beat him at his game. "Yep... That's why I need you to stand and confront me about it. You cannot just allow me to get away with my stalkerish tendencies." He made quotes in the air. There was no winning with Rain. This man was a smooth neg

Lucas' POV.Cheryl entered my room with a small smile on her face and now I was stunned by this attitude. "Why do you have such a long face? Is anything the matter?" She inquired and I looked around to confirm if she was truly talking to me. "You're acting weird. What's with the newly found attitude? Why are you smiling so much?" I demanded from her. I had a lot of projects at hand and the last thing I wanted to get involved with was making sure that she dampened my mood the most. "Why don't you just keep calm for a minute?" She said, rocking on her feet. "I can't keep calm. I just want some answers from you. How far have you gone with Zyrielle?" "What suddenly makes her your friend? I thought that you wanted me never to talk to her in the first place." I replied. "You warned me categorically to stay away from her so why the useless questions?" She giggled softly before walking towards me. "That was because you refused to defend me in front of your family and watched me get ridic

Zyrielle's POV. That wasn't going to suffice. "Love doesn't cut it most times," I replied angrily before heaving a deep sigh so that I didn't come across as a problematic fellow. Not a lot of things required immediate action. Sometimes, it was good to leave a lot unsaid so that there weren't any worries."I guess what I'm trying to make you understand is that... I would like my opinions to be taken into consideration. I know that you love me. You might want to pay deeper attention to my needs. He slammed his hand against my desk and I jumped. I fixed him with a blithe stare. "Do you want to kill me?" I inquired from him.
