“We also need to explain what happened with Justin and the others,” Chase reminds us.

“Tonight, while we’re out, we can tell her and explain everything,” Jax says and I agree. There’s no point in bringing it up now.

“I need to go meet with Mr. Ainsley. The diamonds need sorting now that we have them back. I’ll see you later,” Chase says, getting up and leaving.

Turning to Jax, I ask, “So what do you think this morning was about?”

“Honestly? I think he just got tired of always being the one in control. Hiding everything, pretending like nothing bothers him—it was a release, that’s all I can think,” he shrugs, and I nod, accepting it.

Until Chase is ready to fully explain, we might never know.
