There was nothing I could do. I’d tried picking up the files again, but I was still finding it really hard to concentrate. “What?” I said looking confused. Not trying to listen to a word coming out of my mouth Uncle Eddie slapped me really hard across the face. “I feed you, clothed you, basically brought you up and when I think you’d help with my business you thought it would be a good idea to steal from me?” Uncle Eddie yelled again. **CONNOR** I watched as Alannah struggle to walk back to her office and I immediately began to rethink my decision, maybe I’d been too harsh. Those files were already too much and she had to wait and watch me go through all of them over again. I felt her staring at me, but I hadn’t carried my head up to look at her. I got to an error and I asked her to come closer to take a look at it, Alannah walked towards me and stood behind me bending over so she could see and I smelled her sweet breath on my face. I finished showing her what needed to be done and immediately agreeing with me, she took the files from me and walked out of my office. My eyes followed her and I soon saw Camilo and the sight of him made me slightly jealous, especially when he held her like that. **ALANNAH** My phone rang while I was talking to Connor and I walked in to pick my call. “What?” I asked surprised and wanting to know why he was staring at me. “He was abusive?” He said softly, I wanted to ask him who was but I remembered, he was talking about his dad. “He got really mad because my mum wouldn’t sign the inheritance over to him, she signed them to me instead and asked that I took over when I turned 18.” He started explaining. “So must of the time he’d come either drunk or angry and he would hit her so much that she wouldn’t be able to move and I couldn’t do anything, I just watch.” He sighed. “He would send me to my room and lock me up, sometimes for days. Julia and Adrian would sometimes come when he isn’t home and the would keep me company from outside.” He laughed “it was funny, they’d tell me stories and it would feel like I was with them until I fell asleep. I woke up feeling better than I’ve ever felt before, I felt confident and even more beautiful than I’ve ever felt. Yawning and stretching I turned to see Connor still asleep, peacefully. **CONNOR** I stopped walking and decided to go to Alannah and take her out for lunch today, I hadn’t told her anything , I just wanted to surprise her a little and she was.
