Clarissa,
TWO MONTHS LATER
It's been over two months now since I got my degree. I spent most of my time searching for a decent job. I was tired of working for Paddy Bio, given that it didn't fit what I studied in school. Also, I found it nasty.
Two months of submitting my CV in different structures. But each time I walked into any of them, I was asked the same question. "Who sent you here?" Like, if you had no one important in society, you could not work for one of the big companies in the area. Is that what life was all about? I guess a poor, low-key lady like me had no place in society.
Unable to find a job for the moment, I was home managing the little cents Virginia left me every morning before going to work.
Her attitude towards me changed since the day I spent the night with that good-for-nothing soul. She felt responsible for what happened that night, but I didn't blame her at all. Maybe it was written in my destiny that the person who was going to take my virginity away from me was going to disappear into thin air.
Scotched to the TV all day, I felt a burning sensation at my lower abdomen. It wasn't the first time I was feeling this pain, though it was dull. It was associated with vomiting, nausea, fatigue, and anorexia. The last time I felt this, Virginia asked me to meet a doctor. I was stubborn and decided to play deaf ears. I didn't even like visiting hospitals.
I brushed over the topic and left for the kitchen to get a bottle of soda. It was soon 2 pm and my favorite series was about to commence. After getting my soda and potato chips, I was about to get out when I felt my legs weakening. This is more serious than I thought. Not only did I miss my series, but I ended up sleeping on the floor because I was too weak to walk. I didn't want to bother Virginia cause she had so much to do.
Four hours later, Virginia walked in. She was wearing a white over-white suit. If not that I had registered the smell of her cologne, I would have thought I passed away and my angel was standing next to me.
"Holy Jesus, Clarissa are you okay?" Virginia jerked me from the floor and made me lie on the couch.
"I-I'm feeling weak," I said in her embrace.

Virginia succeeded in getting a cab that drove us to the hospital. We arrived and the nurse in command asked us to take a seat and wait when it was our turn to be served. I quickly understood it was because we didn't have enough money that we were asked to wait. Even those who arrived after us were granted permission to see the doctor before us. What could we do apart from waiting until she tell us is our turn?
"Your turn!" The lady shoved her hand in our direction. Her expression was cold and irritating.
We got in and the doctor conducted a series of tests. Before then, she asked how long I had been feeling the signs and symptoms. I told her the truth, which was three weeks ago. She did three tests; a malaria test, a CRP test, and lastly, a pregnancy test.
"Okay, young lady. Kindly seat in the waiting room. When your results are out, I'll call for you." The doctor said, her voice low and intimidating.
I grabbed my purse and rushed out of her office. Seated with Virginia, we began checking what could be the real issue. I'm pretty sure I was suffering from malaria. It was evident that was what was disturbing me. Thank God Virginia came with some money, it will help get some anti-malaria drugs.
Thirty minutes later, the doctor called me back to her office. Yes, finally the results were out. It didn't take that long.
She cleared her throat and began; "Miss Clarissa, we have the final results." She opened the sealed document, reading the content in it, "You tested positive for two tests; malaria and pregnancy test. You are eight weeks pregnant and suffering from malaria. It's a great risk in early pregnancy." The doctor said plainly.
"What?!" This can't be happening, did she just say pregnant? How come? I only did it once, how can I be pregnant?
Holy shit… I'm carrying a child in my stomach and the one responsible for this is nowhere to be found. A child I won't be able to take good care of because I am broke and don't have a penny to my name. Why did God decide to curse me this way?
I don't even know when a tear erupted down my cheek, which got the doctor worried. She grabbed a tissue from her back and handed it over to me, "This is not the time to cry. You have to be strong for the task which is ahead of you." she whispered.
I took the results and clutched my purse to my tiny body, walking out of her office with tears damped on my face.
"What's wrong Clarissa." Virginia pleaded while taking me in her arms.
"I'm finished." I let out a loud cry while I face-palmed.
"Talk to me, I'm here with you. What did the doctor-" Before Virginia could complete her statement, I suspended her words into thin air.
"I'm pregnant, do you understand? I'm f***ing carrying a stranger's child."
"Calm down, don't cry. Breathe in, please." Virginia said, her voice growing softer.
If she was in my shoes was she going to calm down? How dare she asked that of me? How was I supposed to raise a child I had no idea where the father was?
"You can as well get rid of the baby if you don't need it. It's a hospital here and not a crying show." One of the nurses objected.
I placed my hands on my belly in a protective way, the tears stopped dripping and I confronted her; "I won't get rid of it. I'm keeping the baby!"
Aiden,The elevator door dings open, with my briefcase in hand, I walked out and quickly reached to my office. I removed my coat jacket and arranged it behind my chair. Next, I went through the already scattered files which were on my table. I had to go through the proposals that I received.I already signed a contract with Mac borel's firm last month. This happened in Singapore. After that, I received another proposal from a oil and gas firm in Thailand, he was requesting a five years contract but he couldn't provide a decent price for my services. I don't work for peanuts. Nope, I don't do that. I already proved to the entire world that my firm has the best service ever. What I find surprising about this is the fact that I have not been paying full attention to my job, especially with my mom who hasn't allowed me to rest by myself since she arrived. Her last visit didn't end well because of the constant harassment from her path and now she's back. The only good thing here is that sh
Clarissa,I'm in the kitchen trying to make something for myself. It's the third time I tried making something, but my stomach won't just accommodate it. I tried taking French toss and tea, but it didn't sink down, I flushed it and made matched potatoes and grilled chicken. Still, my stomach rejected it. I'm now trying to prepare African jellof with enough pepper. Hope the baby will accept it this time, I need him or her to understand that we don't have enough money to live a fancy life. After stewing everything and placing it on fire, I returned quickly to the living room to continue the football match that I paused. The hormones these days are causing terrible things to my system. To the point that I seat in front of the TV and watch football, my baby will surely be a boy."Hey, isn't that something burning?" I heard Virginia's voice from the interior.Hehe, I jumped out of my chair, and before I could realize it, I slipped down the floor. I totally forgot I placed a cup of water on
Charles wale,Have been standing at the other section of the road for the past forty-five minutes, waiting for my so-called brother to show up himself. He walked into the building and have only been seeing him from the glass windows. I don't want to miss a single detail concerning his life.In mid-rise jeans, a button-down shirt, and a baseball cap covering my face. My one hand was tucked in my jean, and the other hand was placed on my cap to help control and have a broad view of Aiden's activity. While observing him, I momentarily piped at the Kia Picanto that was wrongly parked in front of the bank. That car belonged to an old friend of mine. If anything happens to it, then I'm good as dead. I promised to pay him double once I sort out this issue. I changed my car because I noticed Aiden had remarked on my Toyota. It was no longer safe for me to walk around with it.Okay, okay… That's him, he just walked out in a silver coat. He was talking to a huge personality, who in turn smiled
Aiden,The weekend has been a long one for me, busy and most especially noisy. I took it as an advantage to renew my wardrobe and run other errands I knew I wouldn't be able to do throughout the week.Mom left one week ago, which gave me that liberty I had been missing. My countenance was filled with surprise when I spotted Miller and Gabriel shopping in the same boutique as me."Aiden, is that you?" Gabriel stated. His grin widened as he watched me with surprise written all over his face."Yes, as you can see for yourself." I said firmly."Long time no see. How many years is that? That should be three years ago." He said, his face covered with smirks."Yeah! You are right, it's been three years." I said annoyance mixed in my speech.Gabriel is an old friend from the university. Clarissa,"Where have you been all this while? Have been searching for you." I asked with annoyance mixed in my speech."I am so sorry that I had to take some distance," Aiden replied nervously. He tilted his hair in an awkward manner."Why did you go so long? Is it that you don't love me?" I halted in my speech and looked in his eyes, to see how he was going to react, "We are both expecting a baby." I placed my hands on my belly and began contouring it in invisible strokes."Do you mean you are expecting my baby? That's good news. Have always wanted to be a father, and I'm glad you are about to give me that opportunity." Aiden said. He took me in his arms."Will you marry me?" He knelt and presented a ring before me.At this point, I heard someone rubbing her hands on my wrist. I gasped before waking up from my long sleep."Oh, calm down darling. What's the matter?" Virginia addressed me. She wore a surprised face."It was just a dream." I placed my hands on my aching head."What dre
Aiden,The past few days for me has being hell. The Billionaires' Award is coming up in a month, and this whole shit is stressing me out. Not only have I been nominated for three awards, but I'm to host a party after that. Have never experienced this issue before, so I don't know how it works. Not withstanding, I got an invitation from a publishing house. That's where I rendered myself this morning before resuming for work. I must say their offer was tempting and also ridiculous at the same time.Mrs. Charlotte Lamenz, the chief executive officer of Worldwide Publishing Ltc, wants to write a book about my firm. In this book, she wants everything about me to the published.Thinking of it, it was a good and a bad idea. Good because I was going to be exposed to more people than before, but the bad side of it was that I was going to become my haters' object, as through this book, they were going to try by all means to tarnish my reputation.Frankly speaking I had to think about all that b
Clarissa,An alarm ranged annoyingly beside my bed and I angrily slammed the buzzer. I had been sleeping since yesterday at 6 pm trying to run away from what I saw. The little toddler in me made it impossible for me to kill myself in drinking. Hence, drugging myself to a long night sleep was the only option."Damn, my head ache." I let out as I struggled to step down from the bed. My eyes were blurry making it impossible for me to see where I was placing my foot. I had to hold the edge of my bed to help control my steps. After struggling for some minutes, I managed to get to the bathroom. I washed my face, my body and dressed. After which I closed the room door behind me. I was heading to the kitchen to make something for myself. By this time of the day, I’m sure Virginia must have prepared already.“Oh, there you come. I was about to come pick you up. Please seat down and have something.” She said, her voice echoing down my system. This baby I’m carrying has brought a change in Virg
Aiden,It’s Monday morning, and I’m looking as hot as hell. This is because I accepted Mrs. Charlotte’s proposal. The proposal of appearing on her next book. Last night, I got an email from her team, requesting some photo shoots for the cover of the book. This is something I’m not quite open to, but for the sake of this project, have got to give it my all. I took some time to go through some of her past achievements and I could tell she really has influence. This is going to help me get the exact influence I have being craving for.Not to say I am not famous. In the city, most of the people know me for the business maniac I am. Apart from my businesses, I haven’t been able to create another life for myself. I just want to prove to my family and the rest of the world that although I ain’t married, I can create a life out of my business.Dressed in a deep crimson trouser, made of silk chiffon, light-coloured shirt and a pair of brown brogues, I glared at myself through the mirror oppo
