Aiden,
Not wanting to aggravate the situation at hand, I simply nodded my head in response before moving to my room. I knew the guest she was talking about was non-other than a lady. As usual, she still tried to matchmake me with the daughter of one of her billionaire friends.
I took a cold bath. Moving to my closet, I picked out grey pants, a white handless shirt and flipped them on. Next, I strolled down to the living room, I knew she was seated there.
She clasped her hands firmly when she saw me walking towards her, "Don't tell me you would be dressed this way for dinner?" she asked surprised by my looks.
"Mom, please let's not do this tonight." I was tired of the constant dispute with my mom. No day passed without us having an argument.
I honestly don't know why she didn't love the clothes I was putting on. It was just dinner, and I honestly don't give a fuck about who she invited over. While trying to make her resonate, we both heard a car hunk outside the gate.
"Fast, darling. Go change your clothes, she'll be here any time from now." My mom shoved her hands to the stairs, her voice fast and intimidating.
I was not in the mood for that tonight. I simply took a seat next to the one she was seated and scrolled through my phone. I just received a message from Mac Borel's firm; they were requesting a partnership. The message was sent by the director himself, requesting a thirty-minute talk about the deal.
This was exactly the kind of people I wanted to be surrounded by.
People who talk business! Not some asshole who was ready to parade herself in my home just because my mom promised her marriage.
Two minutes later, the doors of my living room pushed open, revealing the features of a lady.
She was a barrel-chested, light-skinned lady. She had flowing, moon, shadow-black hair. She was putting on a short hibiscus flower skater skirt, a butterscotch crop top, and black high heels.
Her enticing constellation-almond eyes gazed at me over her puffy heart-shaped lips.
"Sarah, you are here already." Mom quickly split the silence in the hall, walking to her for a hug.
"Yes, Mrs. Carter." The lady responded politely.
"Son, come over. Let's welcome our guest in the right manner." she said, stretching her hand to take mine in hers. I did not want to ignore this gesture of hers, so I kindly played whatever game she was playing.
"This is Sarah Comans, she's the only daughter of the Comans. I'm sure you know them." Of course I knew them, her parents were one of the top leaders when it came to real estate business.
"Look how beautiful she is. A pretty lady from a good background with a good education. Son, isn't she lovely?" Mom held the lady's hand in the air and whirled her around so I could take a look at her shape. She didn't mind shaking her behind in front of my mom, puff…
"She is," I said coldly, ignoring my mom's signals. I didn't even go close to them. All I wanted now was to get done with the dinner and move to my room. There was a lot to do in there rather than seating with ladies!
That said, we moved to the dining table where the food was well-installed and waiting for us. We had bacon, tacos, vegetable sauce, grilled chicken, and yam for dinner. Accompanying the food was a bottle of Carbanet Sauvignon. I wonder what we were celebrating tonight.
There was absolute silence at table, the only noise which could be heard were those of plates and cutleries.
"I heard you concentrate a lot of time and energy on your companies. Hope you'll spare some for me too?" She said curtly, her voice low and intimidating. What the hell was she thinking this was? A relationship? Puff…
Instantly, I remembered the lady I got intimate with some days back. I don't know why but the image of that night kept reflecting in my mind. Did her image suddenly flew in my head because of what Sarah said?
I gave her a cold glare without saying anything, next, I gazed back at my plate of food.
"What, are you mute? Say something." She barked again.
I harshly dropped the cutlery I had in hand on my plate, making it echo, "Listen, Sarah, or whatever might be your name, you are here for my mother and not for me. Kindly finish your plate of food and dash out of my mansion. I'm beginning to get uncomfortable with you being around." I gritted my teeth in annoyance.
The expression on her face at that moment was priceless. Her face was stiff, just like acid solution was thrown on her body. That serves her right. Next time she tries something stupid again, I will bounce back.
"Aiden, you don't talk to a lady using that tone." Mom banged the table so hard. I won't want to be disobedient, but does she knows she was hitting my table, and she was in my house? Not hers.
"Mom, I'll be in my room. Excuse me," I woke up, gradually moving to the stairs.
"Aiden, don't you dare walk out on me. No matter what, I'm still your mother and I'm ordering you to sit your a$$ back in that chair." mom said pointedly.
This was what I was expecting. Mrs. Carter, always trying to extort me. I don't know why she couldn't just respect my decision of not wanting to be in a relationship. Was it overdemanding? Even if I felt like doing something like that, I will prefer a different girl, not all the ones she was proposing. Apart from her parents being wealthy, there was nothing else interesting about her.
I turned back and returned to my seat as she ordered.
"Good." I heard her say.
What was good about it? I only took back my seat because I didn't want to be a narcissistic
Clarissa,TWO MONTHS LATER It's been over two months now since I got my degree. I spent most of my time searching for a decent job. I was tired of working for Paddy Bio, given that it didn't fit what I studied in school. Also, I found it nasty. Two months of submitting my CV in different structures. But each time I walked into any of them, I was asked the same question. "Who sent you here?" Like, if you had no one important in society, you could not work for one of the big companies in the area. Aiden,The elevator door dings open, with my briefcase in hand, I walked out and quickly reached to my office. I removed my coat jacket and arranged it behind my chair. Next, I went through the already scattered files which were on my table. I had to go through the proposals that I received.I already signed a contract with Mac borel's firm last month. This happened in Singapore. After that, I received another proposal from a oil and gas firm in Thailand, he was requesting a five years contract but he couldn't provide a decent price for my services. I don't work for peanuts. Nope, I don't do that. I already proved to the entire world that my firm has the best service ever. What I find surprising about this is the fact that I have not been paying full attention to my job, especially with my mom who hasn't allowed me to rest by myself since she arrived. Her last visit didn't end well because of the constant harassment from her path and now she's back. Clarissa,I'm in the kitchen trying to make something for myself. It's the third time I tried making something, but my stomach won't just accommodate it. I tried taking French toss and tea, but it didn't sink down, I flushed it and made matched potatoes and grilled chicken. Still, my stomach rejected it. I'm now trying to prepare African jellof with enough pepper. Hope the baby will accept it this time, I need him or her to understand that we don't have enough money to live a fancy life. After stewing everything and placing it on fire, I returned quickly to the living room to continue the football match that I paused. The hormones these days are causing terrible things to my system. To the point that I seat in front of the TV and watch football, my baby will surely be a boy."Hey, isn't that something burning?" I heard Virginia's voice from the interior.Hehe, I jumped out of my chair, and before I could realize it, I slipped down the floor. I totally forgot I placed a cup of water on

Aiden,The weekend has been a long one for me, busy and most especially noisy. Gabriel stated. His grin widened as he watched me with surprise written all over his face."Yes, as you can see for yourself." I said firmly."Long time no see. How many years is that? That should be three years ago." He said, his face covered with smirks."Yeah! You are right, it's been three years." I said annoyance mixed in my speech.Gabriel is an old friend from the university. I halted in my speech and looked in his eyes, to see how he was going to react, "We are both expecting a baby." I placed my hands on my belly and began contouring it in invisible strokes."Do you mean you are expecting my baby? That's good news. Aiden,The past few days for me has being hell. The Billionaires' Award is coming up in a month, and this whole shit is stressing me out. Not only have I been nominated for three awards, but I'm to host a party after that. Clarissa,An alarm ranged annoyingly beside my bed and I angrily slammed the buzzer. I had been sleeping since yesterday at 6 pm trying to run away from what I saw. The little toddler in me made it impossible for me to kill myself in drinking. Hence, drugging myself to a long night sleep was the only option."Damn, my head ache." I let out as I struggled to step down from the bed. My eyes were blurry making it impossible for me to see where I was placing my foot. I had to hold the edge of my bed to help control my steps. After struggling for some minutes, I managed to get to the bathroom. I washed my face, my body and dressed. After which I closed the room door behind me. I was heading to the kitchen to make something for myself. By this time of the day, I’m sure Virginia must have prepared already.“Oh, there you come. I was about to come pick you up. Aiden,It’s Monday morning, and I’m looking as hot as hell. This is because I accepted Mrs. Charlotte’s proposal. The proposal of appearing on her next book. Last night, I got an email from her team, requesting some photo shoots for the cover of the book. This is something I’m not quite open to, but for the sake of this project, have got to give it my all. I took some time to go through some of her past achievements and I could tell she really has influence. This is going to help me get the exact influence I have being craving for.Not to say I am not famous. In the city, most of the people know me for the business maniac I am. Apart from my businesses, I haven’t been able to create another life for myself. I just want to prove to my family and the rest of the world that although I ain’t married, I can create a life out of my business.Dressed in a deep crimson trouser, made of silk chiffon, light-coloured shirt and a pair of brown brogues, I glared at myself through the mirror oppo
