Chapter 2

Cassie had a pale face, sobbing, she grabbed Camille’s arm and said, “Sister, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to come in between your marriage with Fredrick, please don’t be angry with us, everything is my fault, if you want to scold or fight, just do it!”

Camille looked at her sudden weak and fearless appearance and felt disgusted. She shook her hands off surprised at her sudden change in attitude.

It didn’t take much strength, but Cassie’s body suddenly stumbled, and her entire body fell to the ground.

“Cassie!”

Fredrick screamed from behind and rushed to help her up, yelling in a low angry voice, “Camille! What are you doing? Why did you push her?”

“I-I didn’t…”

Camille turned pale and subconsciously wanted to explain, but was interrupted by Cassie.

“F-Fredrick, please don’t blame my sister, I’m the one who is trying to come in between your marriage, don’t say she pushed me, even If she hit me and scold me, it’s still the right thing to do,” Cassie said while crying.

Camille’s pupils shrank, shock written all over her face. She lifted her head and met Fredrick’s disappointed eyes.

Fredrick turned to Camille, his eyes blazing with anger. “I didn’t think you’d turn out like this, why do you have to hurt Cassie? How dare you push her? Your sister!”

Camille opened her mouth and the explanation suddenly choked in her throat, sticking out like a thorn across the place.

“Do you think that I pushed her?”

“Yes, I saw it with my own eyes. You’re a ruthless woman, I was wrong about you after all these years!”

Camille stood there, unable to believe what she was hearing.

She turned to Cassie and her eyes flashed with malice and self-satisfaction.

A slow chill spread all over her heart.

“It was all Cassie. She planned this. She hates me and she wants to ruin our life,” She cried desperately, clutching his chest.

“Shut up, Camille! You’re the one who ruined our life! Get OUT! You’re not allowed to be here!” Yanking her hands off him he pushed her away mercilessly and walked away with Cassie.

She blinked back her tears at his ruthlessness. “Fred, please. Don’t do this, I’m your wife,” she begged, running after him, and trying to hold him.

He pushed her back again and turned around with an enraging and disgusted expression. “WE ARE DIVORCED! Stay away from me and Cassie. I will harm you for what you’ve done if you stay another second in front of me.”

“She’s lying Fred. She’s trying to destroy us, and she’s framing me up. Please believe me this time, please…” she cried, pulling on his shirt to stop him from leaving her.

SLAP!!!

Cassie ran to hold him. “It’s alright Fred. You don’t have to go too far.”

He turned back with a dark face, eyes piercing through hers. “You know what? I would have taken pity on you and let you stay for a while in this marriage for your sake. But after seeing your true self,” He leaned closer, his furious glare making her gulp.

“So you want me to get out after all we’ve been through together?”

“It was all an act. Don’t delude yourself. We both moved in because our family forced us to.”

How could he say that? Why is he so heartless and selfish? Her hands were shaking and her teeth were grinding together, her jaw so tense that her head hurt.

Cassie suddenly bent her head, holding her forehead as she whimpered softly in pain, “Fredrick, I feel dizzy.”

Camille watched as Fredrick held her, his eyes were filled with so much care. He never once looked at her that way. He never cared when she caught a cold. Even in his sleep, all he mentioned was Cassie.

Fredrick touched Cassie’s forehead and turned to Camille glaring at her angrily. “I swear if any harm comes to Cassie, I won’t let you off easily.”

***

Fredrick took Cassie to the hospital and Camille went back home. She waited the whole night for him and eventually slept off on the couch while waiting.

After a moment, she got up from the couch. She walked to the kitchen to get a glass of water, still reeling from the previous night events.

She walked past the room and met the door slightly opened and was about to close the door but she froze as she heard a person’s voice. Like someone was talking on the phone.

“It’s finally over, Mum. Fredrick is finally mine.”

“Including the company?”

Camille was frozen in shock. “Wait…that’s Cassie and mum? What company is she talking about?”

“I’m not interested in the company, all I want is Fredrick.”

“Just do as I say! Make sure you stick to the plan. The company is important to me just as Fredrick is to you.”

Camille walked closer and peeked through the half-opened door. Cassie was standing by the door, her right hand folded beneath her breast as she leaned against the wall.

“But Mum…..”

“Once your father signs the documents, everything will be ours.” Her mum said, cutting her off.

“What about Camille?”

“Do you care about her?” The woman scoffed loudly.

Camille covered her mouth and stepped away awkwardly.

“I don’t care what happens to her.”

Camille heard her sigh and said something but she didn’t hear it.

She slammed the door open and Cassie shrieked in fear turning back.

“Camille. What the hell?” Cassie yelped.

“What is happening?” She asked, looking at her.

Cassie furiously snarled in her direction. “Nothing, now would you please leave?”

Camille’s mind raced as she processed her betrayal, “I can’t believe you would say this, Cassie.”

“I have no clue what you’re talking about,” She directly lied to her face.

“Fredrick? About the company you and mum are feasting your greedy eyes on?”

“And? What strange about it?” she shrugged casually.

She sneakered, “I’m taking over dad’s company. But, so what?” She rolled her eyes and cut the call.

Camille blinked her eyes like a fool at her. “Why did you create all this drama that I pushed you?”

She raised a taunting brow at her, enjoying her misery because she knew Camille had no chance to win against her.

Camille couldn’t believe her, “He’s not going to leave me.”

Cassie laughed. “We’ll see.”

“Mum is also in this too?” Camille asked in disbelief.

“What did you think? Of course, she is.”

Camille was shaking in anger.

“And soon Dad’s company will be mine.”

“Why are you doing this? He’s our father. Don’t you care about him? He is sick, he needs us by his side. And you are here after his company, his wealth?” She asked, feeling the anger build inside of her.

“I hate him. Because of him, I have nothing. If you weren’t born everything would have belonged to me. He was always picky, he chose you over me. I was always the black sheep of the family.” She scowled.

“You know that’s not true, Cassie. Dad loved us both.”

“Will you please leave now?” Cassie asked boredly.

“I will tell Fredrick everything.”

Cassie's eyes widened but then she burst into laughing. “Sure do that.”

Suddenly, she stopped laughing looked over her shoulder, and started crying. Camille looked at her in confusion.

“P-please leave me alone, Camille. I already told you, I will not ruin your marriage. Why don’t you believe me?”

“What? Is she going crazy? Is she bipolar?”

“What are you talking about?” Camille crossed her arms.

But she sobbed harder. “Why do you hate me so much?!” She rubbed her cheeks. “You didn’t have to slap me.”

“What the fuck is happening?” Camille stared at her in confusion.
